Playstation TV Thread: Vita Who?

Uh I have no clue. How do I go about checking? Ive never owned a vita so this remote play thing is totally foreign.

They are relatively close in nature, so maybe thats the case? If you dont mind helping me out, that would be greatly appreciated!

No prob. It's in the ps4 settings. Just uncheck direct connection

It's improved a lot doing it that way. Much happier. Think I'll invest in a new router since this one is 8 years old and slows down a lot.

do you have remote play on the ps4 setup as a direct connection? they might be connecting directly, and thus due to distance providing an inferior experience vs. going through the router
Hmm this might be my problem why I can't play in my living room. I'll try this later.

Serious time to upgrade... 8 years is way too much. Get the ASUS U56 and you will be happy for years to come. Paid 60 Euros, has AC WLAN, 2x 450mbit (2,4ghz+5ghz network), many other good features like VPN routing, USB 3.0 for media....

You are missing out. Also 5GHZ network won't be interfered by other devices in your location :-)

alright cool. Any recommendations for a modem too? Maybe a router/modem combo? My modem is about 10 years old. Comcast keeps emailing me saying my modem isn't allowing for the higher speed. Just been to cheap to upgrade haha

Yeah. The Featured tab was annoying at first but then I got use to it. I can understand if it's a default setting. I don't mind having default settings on some of my electronics. The PS TV is an example.

Just to be sure, digital games are not region free and buying Danganronpa off the US store would not enable me to play it on my EU PSTV right? I don't think NISA is ever going to care enough to take a day off its schedule to whitelist it.

You can't just switch your region? Or create a new account in a different region?

Digital games are "region free" but they are locked to one account and Vita only supports one account. If your account is US it will but and play US games fine, if your account is EU it will do that with EU ones, regardless of "region" of hardware. Accounts matter not hardware.

As a "default" for a cheap family device, sure it's fine, really would appreciate being able to turn it off though. It's not really a "default" if you can't remove it

Apparently not. Already have an account in a different region, but you apparently can only use one account on the PSTV.

Damn it, I wish it was possible to switch between accounts easily. Fuck you NISA and Sony, let me play my game already!

Oh and also thanks for the info.

if they put it on vita, it should go to PS TV also. However I've got little to no hope they implement it, as they dismissed the idea even before selling the hardware.

OK I got the PSTV recently and finally got to play around with it.

First off I have a wired PS4 set-up with fast internet connection. I connected my PSTV upstairs in my bedroom while my PS4 is downstairs in my family room. I had my PSTV using wifi and my router is about 10 ft from it so it has a perfect connection. playing remotely worked fine but there was a touch of lag that was noticeable, even more so than when I would play remotely from my room on my Vita. This was a bit of a downer since that was one of the main reasons I got it. I could still play a few games, but with the lag some games were basically unplayable.

At that point I decided to change some of my settings, most notable hard-wiring my PSTV. So I unticked the "connect directly to PSTV" box in my PS4 settings, I changed my TV settings to "Game" and I changed my settings on my PSTV to stream "720p" instead of Automatic. With this set-up remote play works amazingly well. There is VERY little lag, if any. it is on par if not better than my Vita Remote Play.

I am now extremely happy with my PSTV and if you can have a wired-to-wired Set-up with your PS4 I HIGHLY recommend it, especially for $70. If they had a Netflix app, it would be a must buy in those cases. It is also a great bonus to play some vita games on a larger TV. Can't wait to try out PSNow on it!

The proximity to the router wouldn't matter if it was connecting directly to the PS4. Wired is definitely the best, but if you're ever curious you could see how it fares on wireless without the direct connection.

Is PSN under maintenance? I keep trying to connect with my PSTV and getting a maintenance error. I checked the PSN status page and it says it's online.

someone has offered me a used PS TV with ds3 and 8 gig memory for 65 $. Worth it ? It'd in good condition and I know its 99 in amazon but if I want to import it from amazon it will cost me around 120$ to Saudi arabia . also, Here it also costs around 120$

If you haven't played games like P4G and both Danganronpas etc, it's a good investment. Not sure what the compatibility list is for Saudi Arabia, but as long as you have a few games on there that you're interested in, I say it's a good device.

I don't use Saudi arabian account. I use my US account. I do have a slim vita but its on 3.18 and I don't want to update it. I have some games I would like to play on the system such as final fantasy x plus others. I don't have ps3 . I have ps4 so maybe I can use it for streaming

Had a gift card at best buy, and bought one of these on whim. I'm having a hard time finding the Amazon and Netflix apps. Also, I have four accounts on my ps4 and it seems like I have to log on to my account before the pstv will connect. Am I missing a setting? The whole point is to not disturb the people using the our main tv.

Shit, I'd buy it at that price :lol
You should get them to sell it to me

Hmm...Is there any indication of them working on Playstation Gold Wireless Headset compatibility?

i fear it might not be capable of it depending on the USB capabilities. hopefully DS4 audio, as in fully routing audio through the controller and subsequently a headset, is a possibility

Maybe one day we'll all find them...

What price do you guys think it'd be worth picking up a PS TV up? I already have a Vita 1000, but I weirdly want a PS TV. Saw it at my local gamestop for $80 but that still seems too expensive :lol

Anyone willing to sell theirs? :D

The bundle is $99 on Amazon. I still think it's a good deal at this price, considering the DS3 alone still goes for at least $40. Could resell the Lego game and 8GB MS I guess?

I got the standard since the price drop came after my order was shipped. I thought I'd be fine since I have a PS3 and 4, but I'll be getting another DS4 soon so I don't have to keep re-pairing stuff around.

Just bought a PS TV from a gaffer for $60
Should arrive next week.
What should I hook it up to? 32" 720p LCD Dynex TV from like 08 or my 23" Asus IPS LCD/LED 1080p Monitor
I probably sit around 8 feet away from the TV (thoough that can be changed to half of that since I have an office chair) and I sit anywhere from 1-3 feet away from my monitor depending on how I want to position myself.

I guess it depends on whether you want 720p, 720p upscaled to 1080p, or 1080i.

Hi gaf quick question. I've read other people say they're able to run Atelier Rorona on the PSTV but the PS Store says it's not compatible when I try to buy. Can anyone on here confirm or deny that Rorona works before I buy it?

NA PSTV BTW

I don't own it, but I have friends who claim it works.

That's reassuring but I really need someone to say for sure 100% it works and they have tested it on the latest firmware because I really want to buy it but I'm not gambling $40 on a maybe. If it is available I'll probably be playing the entire Arland Trilogy.

Lol. I already got it. I really think its awesome an awesome device. I am playing final fantasy x on it and no longer from my vita. The streaming.....its the same as vita and I didn't find it that impressive. Its awesome sure but not super impressive as the wiiu pad for example.

All in all I am happy. I didn't pay much for it anyway so I am good

Well, I ended up getting one.

It's pretty good for playing fighting games and RPGs. There is a huge catalogue of RPGs on the Vita and the PSP and PS1 that can all be played on it.

It's ridiculous that it doesn't have Netflix. It's embarrassing, actually.

It should have come with a DS4, not a DS3.

The power brick is almost as big as the console. Seriously, why not integrate it?

Hell, why not use the same charger and Micro USB port as the Vita?

It's okay....I guess.

I love it personally it allows me to play all of my (yes all of the ones I own work) on my TV. I sold my vita for it actually.

This list says that it works as well. In my experience this list has been accurate, but I understand wanting to hear from someone directly.

Works alright ;)

Now question. I don't have a PS4 but my DualShock 3s aren't holding a charge anymore and so I want to know, what controller should I get, DualShock 3 or a DualShock 4 for dedicated PS TVing? Not to familiar with the DS4, but I heard the light is annoying and it doesn't last as long as a DS3 as far as "cons" go.

DS4 is better in every way, par the battery.

YES! Alright, I'm going to buy it. Just to double check it's a NA Vita TV set to NA account right?

DS4 is more comfortable and can use the touchpad to mimic the vita's touch controls that's your best bet.

I finally set mine up today and I was surprised at how nice Freedom Wars looks on the big screen.

Also concerning FW near the start

Ten fecking years for walking around my room to much?

I've spent the past few weeks playing nothing but Persona 4 Golden on my PSTV. I was doing a new game plus to go for trophies, but I kinda fucked it up....the guide I was using had a mistake when it came to getting me a book I'd need to get the read all books trophy.

Because of that I feel like I'm ready to move on to something else now, but I can't decide what to play >_< I keep hearing Freedom Wars is a good, but I'm not really big into the MONHUN style games. They're fine, but I just don't like their gameplay much. I keep eyeballing all the Atelier games, but I don't know if they'll suit my tastes or not.

Freedom wars isn't really a monster hunter game. Monster hunter may be the closes thing that exists to describe it's structure though. For starters this game has a real and evolving storyline and when you fight the abductors you take a team with you. The hub world as well as the way you create and upgrade equipment is way different as well. The only real similarities are the mission based structure and the fact you fight large monsters that take a little while to kill.

On the Atelier games you would have to give me a few games you are into for me to decide if it would be worth it for you.

Well I didn't mean to generalize and reduce Freedom Wars to just that, but it does seem the most easy comparison.

As far as other games I'm into...it's hard to pinpoint my own interest at times, because I kinda dip into everything. Often if I were to list some of my favorite games ever though, that list includes Persona 4(although strangely enough, I really don't like Persona 3), EarthBound, Mother 3, Final Fantasy XI, Metal Gear Solid games, Zelda, Mario... I like JRPGs, and I'm into the whole cute art style of the Atelier games, I just don't know if the story or gameplay will suit me or not.
