Wii Titles (SMG2, Metroid Prime trilogy and Punch Out!) Announced for Wii U eShop

Has anyone had issues when playing Galaxy 2 where at times Mario will stay a straight line even when you turn the stick in another direction?

Happened twice. Wondering if it's my Nunchuk. I've barely used it since buying it so it's likely that.

Both times IIRC were him heading to the right. I actually lost a life due to it the first time as I was in the intro level following Luma through the colored platforms. I walked off and fell into the great abyss instead of heading down the path. XD

Your comment is pretty outrageous. Under $10 for a classic Wii game is an amazing deal.

This isn't anywhere near as egregious as selling the NES games for $5. Not anywhere close.
 
Bought SMG2 for me (even though I already own it) and a friend who has never played it.

Exactly this. Some NES games are worth $5 but charging that for junk like DK math and Urban Champion is a way bigger ripoff than SMG2/MPT at $10-20.
 
Just heard about original Wii saves working here and that's awesome! I was going to pass on Metroid Prime Trilogy because I already have it AND ripped to a hard drive, but having an official digital version with my achievements carried over is too good to pass up.

I'd bite if they did this. I JUST beat Xenoblade so I don't have much incentive to play the 3DS version but again, having a version I could play on the gamepad would be sweet.
 
So, does the Wii U Gamepad work as a classic controller for Wii games now? Or just the ones on the eShop? Apologies if this has already been answered numerous times.
 
What I find really sad about Xenoblade not being confirmed for this program yet is, well...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but not a single one of the confirmed Wii DD games supports the classic controller. Xenoblade would be a perfect fit since EVERYONE who has a WiiU has a gamepad. Not everyone with a WiiU has a Wiimote.

Just an opinion.

They need to make people buy the New 3DS to play Xenoblade again.
 
So tempted to buy them all at $10. I think I'll definitely be grabbing Punch Out since it has controller support. Might do Metroid as well even though I have the physical game.

Edit: No regular controller support! *sob* patch that shit in Nintendo!!!!!!
 
I sold my physical Wii MPT right after this announcement. I was always afraid to open it because of its value (so silly, I know), but now it doesn't matter. :)
 
Yeah, even though you can get TLS as low as $30 new, I'd be all for an Eshop release for the convenience of having it in a matter of minutes on my god-tier business class internet rather than days waiting for it to be shipped.

It tells me to point my wii remote at the tv and I'm pointing it at my monitor but nothing is happening.
 
I know it's been mentioned a lot but I'm still surprised they went with Galaxy 2 instead of the first. Wonder if it'll be looking into it too much if I said that it could be because they're planning a HD remaster?

As a retro collector I'm sure you also value physical far beyond digital correct? Because it's easy to be a digital collector of old games depending on what your morals are and it doesn't even cost a dime, which is why "digital collectors" aren't really a thing. We're talking $5 for digital nes games, games that if you owned a working nes, you could find the majority of in working physical condition, for sub $1-2.

$5 for any of the digital nes Mario/Zelda games at this point is laughable, especially considering how easy they are to find as physical or even online in some form. We're not talking $5 for the rarest of the rare old games on vc that people only physically collect and let sit there in their collection because they were too terrible to actually play yet had only a handful of copies made for them, we're talking about games that had millions and millions of copies made and have been on every single Nintendo system for years....going for $5.

Looking too much into it probably. Super Mario Galaxy is readily available, even got re-released under Nintendo Selects. Galaxy 2 isn't as readily available, much like the other games being released this month.
 
Sorry if this has been asked but how is the Wii U GamePad going to work with pointer-shooter Wiimote controls of the Wii Metroid Prime series.

I remember Metroid Prime 3 having some of my favorite FPS controls of the gen.

Edit: Or Mario Galaxy's Wii-mote implementation for that matter?

How about for Prime 1 and 2 sans Wiimote pointer controls?

In other words did the Wii collection versions of Prime 1 and 2 force Wiimote controls or did it give you the option to use the Classic Controller (Pro)?

Doesn't really matter if it's a rom rip, when you're only legal alternative is to pay 20 plus dollars to experience the game. Take a look at the prices of mega man games on eBay and then VC. 5 bucks is a value and not the highway robbery some people make the VC out to be.

Granted, when VC first launched Mario was valued at 87 cents and Zelda on NES approximately 4 bucks. I could understand the issues with their pricing then, but in the current incline if retro demand I find five dollars to be a great value. This is, of course, if you don't like to pirate stuff.
 
When VC first launched on Wii, almost a decade ago, I didn't like the prices at all.

Given inflation, it's not as bad as it was. $5 isn't much nowadays. A fast food meal costs $10.

Urban Champion still isn't worth $5, though.
 
Probably already mentioned but I was pleasantly surprised to see my previous save files working with my newly dl Mario Galaxy 2. I know, it should be a given, but in this day and Nintendo age just about everything they do is a surprise for better or worse. Anyways, happy with the game...glad the Wii is represented...now where da frack is the GC games I've been harping about?
 
You guys complaining about $10 for these games...smh. It's not out of line with what PSN charges for classic games. MPT is a fucking steal at $10.

Not that I disagree with the general principle, but Mega Man isn't a very good example since you can get the entire original series on the PS2 via the Anniversary Collection for around 5 bucks.
