If Melee is still in, I might have to start practicing again. I'll be going to Evo, so I want to enter whatever I can.
On Kachitagari tv, Nyanshi said that the Topanga event at Tokaigi (Feb 1st) will be bigger than the Madcatz event at TGS. Bonchan, Kazunoko, and Fuudo were all surprised because of how big Madcatz did their thing.
you can already start practicing Smash 4 instead![]()
8PM UK time on Tuesdays.
Logan Sama, organiser of the old WSO weeklys in London, invites some of London's finest to Capcom UK HQ for first to 5 sets in USF4.
Ususally goes on for a few hours.
Thanks guys, will update OP.Btw, Topanga could use a description. Topanga tv is a weekly show featuring Mago, Tokido, and Momochi. They go over the tournaments they will participate and have participated in overseas and in Japan, as well as the general news in SF. For long periods of the year, there is a student-teacher session involving one of the 3 topanga members taking a player under their wing and teaching them how to play SF. The show features rank matches (sometimes random char. matches) and ends with a 8 man online tournament featuring players around 4.5kpp like Poongko, Inco, etc...
Best avatar *melts*I have a feeling they won't be able to have both Smash 4 and Melee, so one of them will have to go. With Nintendo most likely be sponsoring again and would want there new game to get the spotlight, giving Melee the boot. If this happens, the response to PM getting the boot from Apex will be noting compared to the response to that.
Sup fighting GAF...been awhile.
I'm hoping to find a fighter that really cements me again now that I'm settled into my career and working on paying off college. Haven't had a fighter hook me hard since I got involved in Injustice and Marvel. Tried with KoF , but my execution and time constraints just didn't come to terms with one another lol.
Hopefulls this year are Smash, MKX and possibly something unexpected hooking me in. Lately though I've just been playing Smash Bros, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, some Blaz Blue and just testing the waters with returning to DOA. Most of what I do is pretty much work overtime and slowly put in work on getting assets for a long standing game project.
Hoping Nintendo has something good to say soon with Pokken Fighters on the 23rd and whatever APEX is supposed to announce.
I feel like after the last two years there's no way Melee wouldn't be the main smash event
It doesn't matter how much Nintendo wants to moneyhat Sm4sh, I don't think the community would accept not having Melee at EVO.
SFV exhibition is on the 31st so Daigo will fly back to Japan as soon as that is done.
Nice! There's also that 2x2 event isn't there?? Lot's of good stuff to come. BTW whens that SFV exhibition between Daigo and Gamerbee?
If I'm not mistaken, its not want the community wants, its what Wizard says at the end of the day (or what was relayed to him since he's the face of EVO). There has to be a lot that goes into deciding the lineup for the games like sponsors, popularity and the nature of the community itself. If it really was what the community wanted, wouldn't there be a voting system implemented for the lineup of games? If Melee is removed from the EVO lineup, not saying that it will be and we'll figure that out tonight, there will be an uproar, and a huge one at that.Unless I'm talking nonsense again, also that's how we would get Mario Kart Wii U on the lineup lol.

That last page...
Also, apparently the hotel deal is up for Evo but as always, the hotel doesn't really give them a deal. >_>
Did anyone go to Evo 2013 and book the hotel through their deal? I'm trying to figure out if you have to pay the resort fee through that or not.
Get Guilty GearIt's super easy to learn
It would just be an unwise business decision to not have Melee. It brings in entrants and it brings in viewers. Evo should want the biggest communities to make them money at the venue and also land them sponsors. Sponsors want viewership #s so their product gets seen by more people.
Without taking money into account, I feel like the biggest communities deserve to be at EVO.
Not really an apt comparison. It's not like Mario Kart is going to pull 1k+ entrants. If Melee isn't featured it's just Wizard being stubborn. But it's not like that hasn't happened before...

Baileys is way cheaper but Paris has better rooms.
Honestly, if you don't mind the walk or paying for a taxi, I'd just check out a room at Luxor or Excalibur and do the half hour walk.
Is it stupid like 2 years ago where the deal was for the Paris even though the actual event was held at Bally?
Or are the deal rate rooms in the right hotel this time?
Yes, and I did. I was jealous of your free wifi, remember.
I mean Splatoon should be good, but I don't see how that's supposed to be related to fighting games![]()
It plays almost nothing like GG outside of air dashing and having burst.
Edit: I really wish Splatoon was out already

Is this after EVO?
If you think Paris was average, than I don't know what to say about Baileys. There is a reason why Baily charges $30-40 a night less. They have better rooms? Paris rooms (well, the group EVO deal rooms, anyway) were pretty average looking.
Half hour walk? No thanks. Going down the elevator and right to the venue can't be beat. Especially when you wake up late for your pools... >.>
I'm not saying that Wizard/EVO couldn't do it, or if Nintendo wouldn't pay to have it removed to make room for the game they want to push, but it just wouldn't make sense for EVO to do it. It's one thing for a company to moneyhat a game into the lineup like MS or NRS did, but it's another thing to moneyhat a game out.
Nintendo would have to put up an ungodly sum in order for EVO to want to kill all the momentum they've built up over the last 2 years, and it's different from Nintendo not wanting to have people run an unofficial mod at an event they sponsor.

Also, I should say the last time I stayed at Paris, it was in one of their suites, so it was pretty nice.

I'm garbage at fighting games and i've been to evo 3 times. it's awesome. plus it being at bally's puts you in the thick of the strip which is waaaay better than last year.I might go to evo just to support and crowd monster it.
Gotta check prices.
One of these years I really need to head to EVO. Maybe when I stop being a cheapass because of student loans lol. I never justify much in terms of vacation when I see those bills.
Wish I still had a local scene here in WV now that I moved up North. It was cool having Injustice locals. Especially since all of us mained different folks. We had a Superman, a Doomsday/Flash, an Aquaman/Batgirl, and I was Bane/Hawkgirl. Great sets.
I've just beat Persona 4 Golden and apparently the plot more or less is followed up in some form in P4 Arena.
I've been thinking of picking up P4 Arena Ultimax and getting the story DLC for the original Arena to catch up.
I'm guessing based on Arc System's Involvement with the game it has similar gameplay mechanics as Guilty Gear, based on Bursting and IK's and whatnot.
I'm sure there is some Persona related mechanics thrown in as well.
Now I generally don't care much for the story for a fighting game and I'm all about the actual gameplay mechanics, but considering this IS Persona, my interest is piqued in that regard.
aren't you working on a fighting game in your spare time? you could consider evo a business trip for networking purposes
Anyway, SCR is looking like May 1-3 this year according to Valle. That's the weekend we wanted for NWM but couldn't because of the venue, heh. That's a really good weekend for me overall which is a shame we couldn't set it there.

I've never been to EVO. I'd like to go but I just can't afford it. I've also never been on a plane. :/
are you going again?Planes are not too bad, it's sorta similar to riding a train. You sit down and mind yourself while you feel shaking every now and then.
Last year was the first time I rode one too.
are you going again?
Oh whaaaat. So when do you think is PNWM going to happen? I know a bunch of my local guys wanted to come down for that.
Looking at the calendar, SCR is in such a weird place as far as events go. If it sticks to that day, it'll be 3 weekends in a row of tournaments. That's going to be some serious tourney fatigue.

What's the other tournament besides NWM?
SC, BB which also had a packed in DVD tutorial on the collector's edition for CT are the ones that I can think off the top of my head.
