Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

I fear for poor Shulk. Maybe I can convince my GS friends to not slap that ugly sticker on mine. Should've done shipping really. ;_;

I figured he would be the easiest of the exclusives to get ahold of. Pokémon is quite popular.
I mean it goes for all the wave 3 stuff. TRU doesn't take a set number of preorders and stop. They tell us to stop and change the prices. My store only has about 3/4 preorders on each fig so getting any of the wave 3 figures so it may or may not be easy to get them if you show up on open on 2/1

Lol what hope does people have for an exclusive, if not even a regular Amiibo sells out in 1 min flat.

Insane.

People without Shulk orders are fuuuuucked.

I bought a bottle of goo gone for that very thing. Works pretty well.

Good to know, thanks, I thought attempting to remove the sticker risked damage.

Also, the in stock alerts reeeeeaaally need to get in sync and stop alerting like 10 minutes after it isn't in stock anymore.

You must be the guy who helped MADGAME earlier!
L is that you? lol

1 minute? lol

I had that shit ready in 10 seconds flat.

Seriously, I won't shit up the thread, but I'm super salty because of Nintendo right now. Don't think me and my fiance want to deal with this much longer.

It's okay to be mad. This shit is ridiculous. Only reason I'm still collecting, I've stopped caring as much. But yeah, it's insane how even pre-orders sell out in 5 min. Like pre-orders montths out. That's how bad this all is.

And you just know, it has to be scalpers that have all these notifications set up and shit, and snagging them instantly.

Oh yeah, TRU has carried all the XL systems so far besides the FE XL and Tomodachi, which I think were store exclusives, we just don't do preorders on systems. Theres a good chance TRU may stock the MM XL, just won't know until the week before. We usually only get a handful of systems tho, once they're gone. They gone.

Yeah, but what else would you expect from most of the human race? Money is everything, passion is not :/

At least we're helping eachother as best we can, but damn... it's demoralizing.

NICE!! Totally keep us updated on this! ...Or at least me! ;]

In a sense, yes. Since GameStop "inside" source said that they are planning to sell second shipments as used product at high price. At least, they still have a chance to buy it.

I know it suck.

I plan on going to GameStop right at 10 am on 2/1 in hopes to grab several Shulks for people in this thread. I already got one on pre order

Its a fairly popular GameStop in the surrounding 4 towns, so I have no doubt there will be some.

Believe.
Edit: hope I didn't tie you up too long in there, but your co-workers seem cool too.

Don't give up hope, we're better than this!

GameStop would never do something so unethical, how dare you!

Oh, wait, you say that they did exactly that with the game Shulk comes from? Huh..

Exactly, and they did the exact same thing with Metroid Prime Trilogy. But we haven't seen pre-owned Amiibo yet, so who knows what will happen.

I don't understand why you guys get so upset and stuff when you can just import and solve all your problems.
Some of us are nitpicky with the packaging.

I'm very nitpicky with it, unless I plan on opening it.

Got my nowinstock notification, put Pit in my cart, and he was gone BEFORE I FINISHED CHECKING OUT.

Either somebody is bulk buying (more likely) or Nintendo is literally making only 10 available at a time. Insane.

Well I hang the boxes on my wall and since the cardboard backing is different for the regions, having one or two different from all the rest would bug me. I am, however, a crazy person so maybe most people don't care.

I. Some want the NA box not the EU/JP box.

II. It cost more to import. While it's not as expensive as scalping prices, some don't want to pay $25-30 for an Amiibo.

Those are my guesses as to why, not everyone imports.

Scalpers also have these notifications running too. All it takes is one of them (or multiple people) checking out before you, and grabbing a handful for each order.

I guess.

I've opened all mine and thrown the packaging away.

I was listening to Pat the NES Punk's podcast and they had a segment where they talked about how resellers are using bots to hit ebay's servers many times per second to search for new game listings that meet whatever criteria and auto buy them mere seconds after the auction goes live. Maybe people have created a similar system for other websites to get all these Nintendo products.

I'm going to be honest and say people are over-invested in these things and they're getting too upset.

Like, it's nothing to get high blood pressure over.

Heh, maybe. Although I think even if you aren't over-invested or obsessed with them, it's still a pretty shit experience. Nintendo not supplying enough. Lack of solid release dates. Poor communication of pre-order dates.

Scalpers buying insane amounts. Pre-orders selling out in 5 min (and pre-orders going up at random times). Not being able to get an amiibo if you didn't pre-order. Amiibos selling out in under 1 min when they go in stock.

Def not a pleasant experience, even for a casual.

Gamestop and other retailers need to learn from BestBuy's Zelda 3DS incident. One per customer plz.

Yeah, kind of surprised this isn't a thing for all retailers at this point.

Gamestop selling new Shulks at inflated prices is not surprising in the least. I wouldn't put it past them if they intentionally kept limited supplies of Shulk at a time to drive up demand. NoA's gives no fucks at all about it since they had to have known going in that this would happen. Might just resort to importing an extra Shulk for my friend rather than run to Gamestops for the one or two extras Shulks they received on release day.

I think GameStop has a 3 order limit on amiibo purchases, so if they're bulk buying, they have a lot of accounts made.

For casuals its WAY WAY worse I mean someone even today is probably thinking oh that Marth looks cool. Wonder where he got that looks up online welp... missed that!
