How does GAF enjoy their steak?

Well done. With a decent amount of char on it. I find both the taste and texture of medium to rare meat utterly repulsive. Rare triggers gag reflex.
Burnt to a crisp.

In before "You're doing it wrong." I don't care :þ

Pretty much this. Looks amazin.

Medium-rare. There seems to be a range you can get and I figure that's safe since I enjoy rare and can tolerate medium, but wouldn't want anything above medium and bleu-rare feels like biting into a blood clot.

I'm fine with people getting medium-well or well-done, but if I'm paying I'm telling you to get the cheapest cut they have. If you're just going to be chewing on seasoned jerky you're wasting money getting a good cut.

Medium, though I could go for one level up (Medium Well) or down (Medium Rare). Growing up, for some reason my family always prepared steak well done. I suppose I was oblivious and assumed that's how it's supposed to be prepared, and I did like at the time. But after trying a medium done steak, now I know what I was missing out on all those years.

Somewhere between Medium and Medium Well.

I like for there to be a bit of red, but not too much.

Having said that though, Medium Rare can sometimes be acceptable, depending on the establishment

Medium rare always. Salt and pepper seared two minutes each side then wrapped in foil and let rest 10 minutes. I used to get well done and drenched it in sauce, I was a kid so it's ok. You well done guys really are wasting money. You're also getting a crappier cut of meat when you order well done. Medium rare and rare will get you better cuts.

As you can see, your attempts to stereotype and discredit people doesn't work.

I should probably specify that I do not enjoy eating it this way. Maybe I've never had a 'good' steak, but they're always too damn gummy and I can't chew them into pieces properly. I've had different cuts and tried as low as medium rare. The fact that I eat steak regularly is a testament to how delicious it is, considering how I loathe actually eating it.

All of y'all that have been posting with your audacious admittance that you ruin your steaks with charring them have been driving me up the wall

UP. THE. FUCKING. WALL

;____;

I just think of all those wasted beautiful meat and my soul cries inside

HEATHENS.

Growing up I hated steak, was so chewy.

I never understood why anyone liked steak.

Until I had medium rare steak.

Been in love ever since

Medium and below. Anything above that is ruining a good piece of meat. I always go for medium rare, but wouldn't mind trying out rare at a good restaurant with chefs that know what their doing.

Serious question, wouldn't cooking the steak make it hard to chew? Is that part of the appeal?

I eat my steak between medium rare and rare. I like to soak my steak in a Worcestershire, soy sauce, lemon combo with a whole garlic clove, adobo seasoning, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, a little sugar, some green onions, and turmeric. I then let it soak for around 1-3 hours. After it is done soaking I will take it out and wait for it to soak up a lot of the liquids so it isn't as drippy, but also not too dry. Then I will add a light layer of salt and pepper to the steak and cook it on the stove (medium heat) for around 5 minutes. After that, I take it outside to the grill and put the grate on the lowest brackets to get the most heat so I can sear the steaks. I let them sit on the grill for 2-4 minutes until they get a nice dark sear around the edges. After that they are ready to eat.

Edit: I also make sure to find a cut with a really really nice layer of fat around the edge for better flavor.

Marinated in beer then cured a bit with montreal steak spice for a few hours, wrapped in bacon and cooked to med rare.

also has to be Bison tenderloin... mmmmm

Anything below medium rare LOOKS appetizing, and I'll even order it sometimes.

And then I take a bite, and it just feels like I'm chewing blood. Not even food. Just blood.

So medium for me.

Prefer Medium on a filet which is obviously the steak of choice. I'll go Medium Rare on like a prime rib. That's my preference but I'll kind of eat whatever, it's all good unless it's actually well done which is ridiculous. Only time I've ever sent a steak back at a restaurant was when I ordered Medium and was given Blue rare.
