So um... Did Lupe just murder the Rap Game in the first month of 2015?

It's ok. I don't really see myself listening to more than a handful of tracks.

Mural is great, but I think I liked Mazinger more than anything on this album.

Mural is a good song, but I don't understand all the praise it's getting.

Not even a top 5 song on the album.

New Lupe album is good but Joey Bada$$'s new album B4.Da.$$ is so much better. Real old school feel to it and his flow is ridiculous

Crazy talk. I'm not even a Lupe fan but that shit slaps. Easily the best on the album and I can see it being in contention for best of the year. What's your top 5, then?

Heh so I read Tetuso isn't actually a nod to Akira. Apparently he just likes the way it sounds. Random as hell.

Chopper, Body of Work, Deliver, Madonna, Prisoner 1&2.

Mural would probably come right after. Being the most overused sample is hip hop right now doesn't help, but I feel like it drags on way too long. Could have been 3-4 minutes shorter.

Thread surprises me, after three full spins think this is in the conversation for his best album.

Dunno, opinions, man

I have a feeling Tech N9ne's album dropping this spring will be album of the year. Rumor has it that Eminem has agreed to be on Worldwide Choppers 2. Can't really beat that.

Laughing at OP abandoning this thread after not being able to deal with others not feeling the album.

lmao bruh.
Honestly the trash talk didn't bother me, or opinions of the albums, because I was just having fun when I made this thread, it was meant to be hyperbolic. But I did get pissed when that one dude called me a hypocrite. Like someone from the internet who doesn't know me trying to make things personal quickly didn't sit right with me, and I had to back away from GAF before I ended up saying some terrible shit, but I'm over it. Apologies to anyone who might've felt dismissed tho. Hope everyone gets to see this reply.

OP what are the best songs?
My personal faves go from Dots & Lines, Prisoner 1&2, Deliver, and Chopper. I like the mix he goes to deliver the narrative. Especially at the beginning of Prisoner 2
So Lupe quit Twitter so he could start posting here under "Arc Christelle" more often.
See this the type of shit I'm cool with lol. It's a funny jab.

I don't know how you found out tho.

Y'all killin me with the Rae posts tho.

I got your back OP. I agree!

I haven't listened to much else that dropped so far this year, but still!
I APPRECIATE THAT! lmao

Why is hiphop the only genre(aside from a small minority of pop fams) that is treated like a game/competion?

Because fans are passionate. Also success breeds more product, ya know? It's the same with video games.

Hip hop origins are kind of based all around competition.

Part of the culture.
This is actually true Rap is pretty aggressive. It's a part of the culture.

Please stop asking questions old man.

Man I'm dying over here.

I get why it is among the artists.

Just seems odd that it is such a large part of the fandom now.

I blame Curtis.

Plenty of rappers beefed before but he made starting ish with people a lifestyle and we ate that shit up.
Then he got crushed by
Graduation
.

Read the comment I quoted of yours. I'm reading it as you seeing this as something new.

Im questioning why fans continue to perpetuate something that is so dated. It seems like fans care about it more than the artists.

See we tried to educate you, and you wanna act ignorant. Bye.

We?

You didnt try and do anything other than act like a jackass immediately.

Something tells me you don't keep up with hip hop music.

I got love for you all but I'm tryin' to murder you niggas / Trying to make sure your core fans never heard of you niggas / They don't want to hear not one more noun or verb from you niggas
Could you tell me where this came from without using Google?

Tetsuo has a few pretty good tracks, but I don't really think it's a great album. More of a 7/10 or something along those lines. The album to me just feels a bit uneven and meandering at times.
I'd say that already this year I enjoyed B4DA$$ more. That one I'd give closer to a 7.5. Doesn't break new ground but it does what it wants to do and is overall quite solid.
And there are some other really promising hip hop albums coming out this year so it's definitely too early to call. I mean it's only January! Personally I'm looking forward to the BBNG/Ghostface collab album. The released tracks for that have been pretty enjoyable.

Ah okay. I really liked Body of Work. Deliver's dope but I could do without the chorus. I'll pay more attention to the others you mentioned.

I'm usually with you on excessively long songs (especially when the beat doesn't switch up) but for some reason this works for me. Like, there's no filler at all. Didn't realize the sample was being heavily passed around now. lol it's always weird when that happens (guess clearance went through for everyone at the same time ). Who else is using it?
