Don't the arcade versions usually have fewer characters than the console releases? Or did I make this up?
The game will probably support alternate controls like most other Wii U games.

The Gundam Vs. games have a LAN mode, but they also require a connection to the internet before it switches to LAN. It's pretty strange!

Yup, console versions always add more characers. If the Arcade release has 15 characters the Wii U version will have 18-20 probably.

I'm sure you'll be able to play with any controller online. They're going to force one player to use the gamepad in couch multiplayer only, due to the POV the arena is presented from.

No you didn't for console releases of FGs they usually add more characters.
The game got an English trailer for crying out loud. That wouldn't have happened unless they had plans for America, and it's certainly not coming to arcades over here.

kinda wish the stages used already established pokemon locations and remixes of pokemon tunes, but it's not a huge deal
game is looking really fun imo, having it be strictly tekken-esque doesn't make sense for something as projectile-heavy as pokemon

It was mentioned that the pad is still under development. It'll change in the future.

Yeah, my initial disappointment of it not actually being Tekken has faded away pretty quickly since the game fits Pokemon more than Tekken and it looks really fun.

Usually the moves are modified by holding a direction when pressing the button in fighting games so that could be how it works
