Lets gets some Common Core in here.
If moot was 15 when he first started it in 2003 and you have 10 apples.
How many grapes does it take to equal his current age? Count backwards from the number of oranges.

I can't imagine running a site like 4chan... Good luck to Moot in his next life chapter!

Bleh, that leads to arguments being dismissed based on who the person is. Might as well be politics at that point.

Unless the other side of Kinsei's argument is that other aspects inherent to 4chan breed those undesirable elements attributed to anonymity, there's not really a middle ground. The degree to which "regular" usernames function compared to actual identifying information is pretty laughable to then consider 4chan's version of anonymity anything more significantly obfuscating.

Pretty much.

That's kinda the point.

You are completely missing the point of 4chan. 4Chan isn't about being "another" forum on the internet, 4chan is about sharing/arguing with other persons without having to think "who" the other person is and more about "what" the other person is saying. You don't judge someone for their opinions and you only take them as face value since you don't actually know the other person. The discussion is without prejudices but your own, it is a complete different environment for discussion if I want to use a regular forum I would use a regular forum. 4chan is 4chan because of anonymity it is a unique place were things work in a different way than on the rest of the internet.

Moot talking about Gamergate right now. The tl;dr on it getting banned from the board is that a handful of very vocal crusaders don't get to use the site as their own personal soapbox. It was bad for the community as a whole.

The thing is that 4chan works as a different way of communication, if you aren't fit to take some "free" insults at yourself then don't go to 4chan, that is how it goes. That is the downside of 4chan the upside is that you don't get crucified for your opinions in a thread because the only opinions you have is the one you are arguing on the moment.

In a nutshell. Its starting a fresh slate every time you have a discussion. One day you can be arguing about how bad and rehashed Mario, the next you can be talking about how great the games are. Nobody will hold what you said before against you, and you cant hold anything against anyone.

Its the ultimate, most pure form of discussion at 4chans core.

Real bittersweet listening to the Q&A. Its good that moot is moving on to greener pastures, and it's not like he's been active in the community nowadays but...I'll miss him *~*

Yeah, loving listening to this Q&A. Really interesting hearing about how he's changed, his views, past and future of the community. Good stuff.

Yeah, it is incredible to hear him talk about advertising on 4chan, spam, how the community changed based on the various "shitstorms" we all remember, like the first 4chan cup (/a/ rules suck it /sp/ mugi mugi mugi!), the third party extensions, the archives, the old archive, the "no generals" rule before /vg/ was created, shit is like a nostalgia trip.

Six and a half hours. Good lord when he started he said he wasn't going to say much.

Really? The QA video only go backs to 4hs... damn I miss the start. And I can't stop listening, he has always talk about why he was against donations but now it has really reach me why he was so much against it.

Well it started at 2PM EST and I don't think it's a replay yet.

from the sounds of it he really is struggling financially (small new york apartment, being jelly of people with regular furniture)

i wonder how open anon would be to sponsoring him on patreon or whatever, or paying him to stay as admin

(or how much e-drama that would generate)

Moot hates donations.

Stream confirmed what I had suspected. Moot's probably one of the most well balanced people to browse 4chan. Sad to see him go.

Bang.

I think they means, like, in size.

No, I think he means in greatness. If Moot never accepted donations, and he never sold the site or made it for his own profit, then it's probably one of the purest forms of an internet forum where discussion reigns over names and titles.

I never understood the appeal of 4chan.

I used to check it out when I was in high school back in like 2006/2007. It's a disgusting site and I have absolutely nothing positive to say about it.

gore posters, racism, sexism, hackers out to fuck with people, and people into fucking dogs and children is what keeps the site "edgy."

gross site. mostly losers and severely disturbed people post on it. they have a bunch of other boards with other conversations but the most active board is the gross one.

I don't really frequent 4chan anymore, but the QA was great from what I heard. I always enjoyed moot's blog/journal posts and speeches that he's done. Sad to see him go :(

Yeah that's /g/ alright.

this is why you shouldn't visit /an/

Don't see how his successor could possibly do a better job than him, but I don't resent him for leaving at all.

He made it a point to say he wanted an organization or group to take over. He said over and over again how he made the mistake of not colluding with others with regards to administration and ideas. He asked some dude a couple years ago if he was interested and he refused. It seems unclear at this time who the successor(s) will be.

I tell people to stay out of /a/ all the time.

As I posted on his former site, Mr. Poole...

If it takes forever, I will wait for you.
For a thousand summers, I will wait for you.
Till you're back beside me, till I'm holding you, till I hear you sigh here in my arms.

See you, space cowboy. Serving with and under you has been a privilege, and an honor.

; _ ;

Honestly, 4chan's future seems uncertain, but I hope for the best.

The site is pretty self-sustaining anyway. I doubt users would have noticed if he never told them he was leaving.

I agree /po/ is toxic and vile. /po/ mind you.
