Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

Hello there, Fellow AmiiboGaffers! Just posting to say hello- I've been a fairly long-time lurker of Gaf and my account finally got approved so now I can post here with you guys!
Here's to hoping that I fit in and have a good time here. So far I love the sense of community and stick-togetherness that you guys have as fellow Amiibo collectors/fans, so hopefully I can help out as well! ^-^

On that note, I've been aiming to get myself a WFT recently as it's the only one besides Pikachu I'm currently missing of Wave 1. I'm really hoping to avoid crazy scalper prices, so does anyone have a suggestion of where I could snatch up a decently priced one?

I really want to try the hairdryer + cold water trick on my Link, but I'm too afraid I'll damage him. I don't want to have to buy a 2nd one (also Link was my first amiibo and the only one I bought on launch day so he's like my first child).

Does anyone else have "dumb" amiibos? I mean ones that you've trained to level 50 and they still don't seem to be all that good. I trained all my amiibos exactly the same way, yet my Fox and Donkey Kong amiibos consistenly lose, both to other amiibos and to me. It's just weird.

I have done the same training strategy with every one for the record. Levels 1-10, I play against them in a 1v1 using the same character. Then for levels 10-30 I put 4 amiibos against each other in a 4v4. Then after level 30 I just kinda wing it, mixing opponents and match types. Don't know if that's the best way to go about it but it seems to create really tough amiibos most of the time.

Honestly I ripped Link off the stand and took the yellow part off and the figure is still fine, they're pretty durable and I don't think it would break if you just tried to fix the head. There's always superglue anyways.

Hello and welcome! I also started out as a lurker (man the approval process just takes forever)! Rosalina fan I see, were you lucky enough to get her preordered?

As for WFT I think a couple people here had her for trade otherwise someone else can probably tell you a lot more about ordering from other countries.

I don't know if you care about which region your amiibos come from, but halfway decent deals from third-party foreign sellers pop up on Amazon US from time to time. I managed to nab a Japanese-version WFT and Little Mac this way for $23 each, which I thought was a good deal (that was the total price including tax and shipping fees). I'm still waiting for them to arrive.

If you specifically want the US versions it's a lot trickier.

Welcome! WiiFit Trainr, will take patience, but less than required for Villager. You're best bet is indeed shipping from Europe, I was lucky and got Marth and WiiFit trainer from Japan on sale for $9 each.

If it makes you feel any better, at no point did it ever feel even close to breaking. I probably could have angled his head to look up even further and he still would have been fine. I still would have had to pull and twist his head A LOT to even start to break it off (I'm sorry Link, that was dark).

I've also been wanting to do something with his stand. Do you have pics of link without the yellow pole? How did you fill in the hole in the smash symbol?

As soon as Wave 4 is available for preorder in the US we will be on OT3 cause a TON of ppl will be saying Preordered till hit we eventually hit the wall of wave 4 being unavailable anywhere then we'll be on OT4 lol

Please let me give my moneys so I can preorder Lucian Nintendo!! I'm waving it in your faces and you keep on saying "not yet". Geez this is killing me here! Day after day and still nothing? *Sigh*
 
Went to the gaming convention MAGFest this weekend and one vendor ( Video Games New York) had 2-3 boxes of Rosalina amiibo (technically, Rosetta and Chiko since they we Japanese imports, but minor details lol). Needless to say, she sold out on day one which was Friday and I was lucky to snag the last one along with Sheik

Yes actually, I got extremely lucky that I happened to be awake during one of those short Pre-order bursts that Target was dong at like 5AM (I actually think it was the last one before they announced that online pre-orders for her were over), and I managed to snag two copies of her. So I'm just crossing my fingers that they don't get cancelled or anything. Not much longer to wait! >.<

I was considering perhaps importing WFT since thats what I ended up doing for Marth and Villager but it was funny because it was right after my imported Marth shipped that the Nintendo Direct happened saying that there would be a restock of Marth later this year. XP

So part of me kind of wants to hold out hope that there will maaaaayyyybe be a restock of WTF and some of the other rares, but I don't know how much should hold my breath on that... @_@

Soooooooo never is what you saying? NOA is one, break my heart for the miss handling of amiibos in America and Canada. And two, also under estimating the demand! It's drive me bonkers and to order more than I need because who freaking know anymore with all the canceled orders!!! GAAAAAAAH!!!!!!

I'm tempted to go early just to make sure I get one.

But I'm tempted to go in late, because I don't really wanna watch the Super Bowl because I want both teams to lose and it's really neat to leave during the game and see how empty the roads and stores are. I could always do both if I don't find one in the morning.

If were making lines your all behind me. lol I havent shut off firefox or chrome with refreshes every 10 seconds since they were shown during the direct On GS., Target, Tru, BB, Newegg, or walmart.

Ack, your poor computer. lol

Not a bad idea though, the thirst seems so real for these in the US at least, I could see them selling out in minutes on all the major sites. Hope not though.

Its really the only way I can think of then scalpers wont be able to get any and the stores cant do anything about it! Lets all do this! Nobody gets Rosalina without going through GAF!
