Man I used to looove this game back in the day. I don't really play these kind of adventures games anymore, but I might just have to replay this one. Never did finish it.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm surprised that people are acting as if the non-tank controls are new. The original Grim supported both character and camera relative controls.

So the countdown timer was bullshit after all, and I have to re-download the game if I want to play it the day it comes out? Great, that's swell, there's that mighty PSN infrastructure on proud display once again.

How challenging are the puzzles? Back in the day I was really bad at point at click adventure games.

They're not as obtuse as a really old school adventure but they are pretty difficult, but really great puzzles which make a lot contextual sense.

I hope the new players are enjoying Grim Fandango, i remember some of the puzzles being kinda of obtuse. Also remember guys it's not about the destination its about the journey.

Does anyone use the gog version and plays it on multiple devices? Can you assign a Dropbox folder for the safegame?

I'm spoiled by steam cloud, wanna play, but don't see the point in paying 5 bucks more for that one feature -_-

So what about the theme that was promised to everyone because pre-ordering didn't work yesterday?

Preorders got it, no preorders did not.

Was told everyone would be getting it but that never panned out yet.

Will be calling Sony today to figure it out. If they lied and aren't giving it to everyone I'll be refunding my PS4 copy and getting it for Steam.

Some of the puzzles are really, really out there.

Petrified forest pumps anyone?

I literally always just solved that one randomly.

Same. I loved the world and characters, but puzzle design seemed bad. I'll give it another try though, maybe the point and click experience I've amassed over the years will make it more enjoyable this time around.

I got mine. It was available on the store to download.

I just bought it and didn't see anything about a theme. And I can't even start the game on PS4, I get an error message: "Cannot find the application. Do you want to look in the Playstation Store?". When I select "OK" it takes me to the product page, where I can click on "Start", and when I do, I get the error message again.

Same here, it took me years and an internet connection to actually figure out how it worked.

The forest area with all those exits that led back into the same area had me stumped for ages too. I thought you had to enter them in a specific order and the arrow sign was supposed to tell you where to go. But those exits were nothing but red herrings, and again, the first time around I only figured out the solution by complete accident.

The new renderer makes the game run like ass on my PC but classic mode works like a charm, I'm so glad to play the game again after so many years.

That's really shitty. I couldn't buy it yesterday because of their mistake and just did because they promised the theme to everyone.
Well, and now I can't even play the game.

Yeah they said the pulled preorder was a mistake and that everyone would get it.

Hasn't happened yet. Will be calling once they are open today.

I found a way to get the game onto my PS4: I went to SEN using a web browser, selected Download List within my account, then selected download to PS4, and the download started on PS4.

Hope this helps others with the same problem.

At midnight or anytime on Wednesday?

Probably tomorrow with the store update although Resident Evil went up earlier after midnight.
Still if someone could confirm that the US version is multi language and not account-locked I might buy the US version today.

That is one of the worst puzzles in the game, easily. Also,
when the can opener gets thrown out the window, and you have to go outside to retrieve it, there's nothing hard about the puzzle but it's one of the few instances that require you to be in an exact super precise location to pick it up.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, since most of you seem to be playing on a Sony console, but on PC... is there any way to have an Xbox layout? By default, the game shows you DS4 button prompts, even though I don't have one connected to my computer at all. It's easy to realize which button corresponds to which button on each controller, but, well, it's a minor annoyance that could be easily solved.

Got this on Vita and PS4. Hmm which platform do I play it on? Btw this is my first time playing.
Manny runs around at 60fps on PS4, but some of the animations run at less to remain original consistency. Also the sound is less compressed on PS4.

^Agreed. I had the saqme problem and fixed it with the same solution. Honestly though, Son'y constant networking bumbling is getting unacceptable considering this is a paid service. If they aren't careful, they're going to start losing customers, the NEED to start dumping money into better online infrastructure for Christ's sake.

That one wasn't so bad for me.
It just requires a bit of experimentation. Glottis keeps talking about needing to unbalance that thing, and when you put that wheelbarrow over one of the lines one of those thingies stops moving, so all you need to do is making sure both thingies on either side are moving at the same time - the tree starts shaking violently after that as a hint you're on the right track. Then you just need to get Glottis on there.

The puzzels that stumped me were the signpost thing in the petrified forest (don't remember why exactly - I think I realized that I needed to bring that sign over there and watch it spin every time, but for some reason I just couldn't figure it out. The other was the puzzle in the beginning of the game where you need to clog the tube system. I didn't make the connection between the cutscene where you put the guy in the coffin and that puzzle, so I was stuck on that one for a long time. I don't remember if there were any other puzzles that were especially hard for me, but I remember those two very well.

That's pretty much what everyone who had the same problem as you did. OP should update the first post with that method.

Morning, real glad I get the chance to play this for the first time this week. I feel a thanks to Sony and Double Fine are in order for making this happen. Shame these PSN license issues are so convoluted. I thought we left that jank behind last gen but apparently not. Cerny don't care.
So who's gonna brave the tank controls? :D
I'm going to give it a try at the very least.
I hope playstation Europe deliver today.
Yeah and hopefully without a repeat of today's issues. Several pages of the OT stunk up by technical issues.

I keep refreshing the page on the SCEE Web store just in case a buy button does pop up. Even though I know the store updates tomorrow normally, even then at around 3:00pm, and even though I have work shortly and wouldn't be able to play it anyway until tonight or tomorrow when I have the day off anyway.

On the other hand *clicks refresh*

It looks like the instructions in the OP have fucked up my copy of the game.

I followed the instructions to the letter, and now after deleting the game to try and re-download it, both the store and my library say "Start" instead of download, even though the game has been deleted, so I'm basically stuck in an infinite loop.

What the flying fuck, Sony.

Yeah, their instructions were not helpful, but a workaround fix has been mentioned previously many times. I'll quote the most recent one for you;

The banner/description has been up for a few days already but you can't buy it. Release date is tomorrow.
Is it so hard to actually be in sync with the US store? Its one day for christ sake surely a simple setting in their database could fix that!

Want to pick this up for Vita in the EU for tomorrow.

Apparently the puzzles are brutal though from watching IGN's review. I hate being frustrated in point and click games and don't want to rely on a video walkthrough.

Just kept myself up until 4 playing this. One of the few games that I always wanted to play as a kid but still haven't gotten my hands on. I love it so far. However, I spent an hour on
the tube system puzzle. How was I supposed to know that there was another lock besides the gigantic lock-looking cog on the door? I had the first part with the balloons and fluid down and spent a good 45 minutes tapping around the room and trying different methods to figure that out. The fact that you can send the bread down the hatch too really threw me off.

I'm getting an Open GL prompt when trying to launch this game... my laptop ain't great, but this game is from 1998, what gives :|

Is there something I'm supposed to have here or am I just boned?

Thanks! I'm having the same issue, except after I chose "DL to all your PS4' the page doesn't want to load the next step (._.) Come on
