Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

Meijer had Sheik, Toon Link, and Bowser. Central Michigan University area. Only one Sheik and I grabbed it along with Toon Link. Picked up Bowser earlier in the day from GameStop. Meijer had one Toon Link left and several Bowser.
 
You guys are making me worry. No make me worry!

I wonder if any of us will run into each other? Guess I have a chance at running into ThisBeJason.

I'm my experience the scalpers RUN and don't follow any order at all. It's pretty messed up but then again if they don't care about ripping people off, they won't care about looking like an idiot. I really don't want to run to beat them....

I heard a story from my cousin of scalping in the 90s....

He waited in his car for some new Star Wars set to come out at a store and once he got out near opening, all the typical people started showing up and ended up running inside. He was surprised, even as a fellow nerd. Saw some scalper come out with a shopping cart FULL oh Hot Wheels, found out they pick through the shipments each time for rares to sell....

Some things don't change...

I'm outside of Cleveland and don't think there will be lines of people, but at the same time it's not the easiest to find Amiibo here and that's considering stores randomly stock stuff. When you factor that this is a planned release, you only need one person to clean them out if they're not imposing a limit.

I'm not sure if that's supposed to be 5 or 8, but either way, I have 17 within 30 miles. :P I'm feelin' good about Rosalina.
 
OMG going to Target for Sheik paid off! Me and a friend went to the Grandville Target. Met another guy there who seemed really cool, and he said when I got there that they had 4 Sheiks in the back. He got two for him and his friend, and me and my friend got the other two. So excited, also heard from the Amiibro I met that they should be getting good stock of Rosalina on Sunday.

Did they hold it for you while you left to go there? Did you have to give them the DCIP over the phone? Thanks! I'm going to try my luck.
 
What's funny is a lot of the people who are going to be there at opening will probably rush to electronics to see that they haven't been stocked yet. But that's a good thing. If they havent put them out yet and people are waiting. Then no one is going to be able to grab them all since they'll hand them out of the box.

I called, and the associate had no idea what I was talking about, except a standard spiel saying they were all street dated, even though I told him Sheik was no longer street dated. So I asked for a manager.

The Manager was nice enough to look up Sheik and discovered that yes indeed she was fair game. He said he would happily hold one for me if I came to get it tonight.

When I got there, It was locked in a drawer, with guess what else? I saw a two Sheiks, Boswer, Toon Link and Two Rosalinas in this hold drawer. Hmm...aside from the extra Shieks, wonder if that's employees trying to keep some aside for themselves.

I don't know why I wasn't grasping that. :P Was just reading it weird I guess. Oh well haha.

And yeah, and I honestly have no idea why. I mean, the Phoenix metro area is pretty big, but I'm not really sure why we need so many haha. I have like 5 within 5 miles too, it's weird.
 
If any of you are bored search the new amiibo on ebay and youll see ridiculousness. Most auctions are 200 and more for rosalina lucario and shulk. I cant imagine if nintendo didnt do one character per person

Sunday will be intrresting or uneventful. My bet is on the latter.

If anyone sees any Rosalina's about in the UK that aren't stupidly priced of course, then let me know. So annoyed my order was cancelled last week. A page or two back, someone suggested they're going at normal price on German eBay.

They're bloody not!

Still ridiculous prices over £40.

If anyone's selling one for up to £15 I'll buy it off you, but anymore is ridiculous.

Would cost more in Gas/food/time to get there than scalper prices by a VERY long shot...

I'm still super salty about no other stores getting the Hyrule Warriors LE... I paid a ridiculous amount for that...
and I would say never again but anything Zelda related and the Wallets coming out.

I went to my EB and the girl said they were all out this Friday 1/30.

I don't 100% believe this but I think for sure Link, Bowser and Sheik are out.
 
Gonna head out to Meijer here shortly. Usually the amiibo go really fast, but will report back. It's pretty late on the east coast here.

I'm mostly going because I'm out of bread. And ice cream. But mostly bread.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Rosalina is in the ad for the first, so she will be there to buy on Sunday. If it makes you feel better, I don't think my intended Target received thier shipment either. Chances are it'll be Thursday or Friday.

If I stand outside for x hours and do not get the product I intend to get I will be very sad. Luckily I have plans do stuff while I wait for it. I'll be replaying golden sun while I wait on my brand new GBA micro :). Or new enough anyway bought it as an extra years ago for when my gba sp started to go and I just opened it :)
