Playstation TV Thread: Vita Who?

Just note that Re;Birth 1 does not work on PSTV!

Can't believe they're not even bothering with it. Pretty disappointed with IFI so far.

Anyone here play FFT on this? Is there still frame rate slowdown with spell effects (I have no idea if it was hardware or software related).

I'm going to be buying one soon basically just for FFT and Tactics Ogre, but I had totally forgotten about the slowdown on PSP (and for some reason I thought maybe it was software related so it could still exist on PSTV...). Will probably buy regardless because I never had much problem with the slowdown but still curious because maybe I'll buy TO first if FFT still has the slowdown.

Pretty sure both PS1 and War of the Lions download to Vita no problem, but yes both have slowdown

edit:

It's always best to go after official twitter and FB pages as other consumers can see it which usually forces them to respond in some manner.

I went and pestered @AskPlaystation a bit, not sure who else to bug. IMO #1 priority should be a "no compatability check" "advanced mode", single biggest problem with it. Netflix and crap would be nice but meh. It's a game box.

AskPlaystation pointed me here for feedback on PS TV, looks like you just login with PSN credentials (it auto-logged me in when I upvoted a question, probably because I'm signed in to the PSN store).

So, feel free to post specific complaints, feedback, upvote similar things. They don't seem that active, hopefully if a bunch of gaffers bring up the big issues and upvote them they'll take notice. (I thought this was important enough to bump)

Making a topic right now.

Refresh Live Area (the little refresh icon on the game page) should validate their compatibility. You'd think it'd just do that when it finds a game isn't compatible, but...

Did you turn it all the way off? It doesn't seem to forget compatibility for me unless I delete a game, but maybe it's because I use suspend

Yeesh that's how it updates it's whitelists? Some really boneheaded moves on PSTV. Glad I'm a mostly unaffected by or was aware of some of this foolishness going in. Do kind of wished I hadn't pre-ordered with the current pricing though.

Only problem I have is when remote playing with my PS3 controller. There isn't a button on there that acts like the DS4 touch pad. So I can't really play destiny.

I went and made Please make bypassing the PS TV whitelist an advanced option on the feedback site too, please give an agreeing reply or thumbs up if you like.

Yes, unless a game is already in the list from the start (some games worked day 1), and I at least assume "compatible with PS TV" marked games work out of the box (I'll test that when I get neptunia 2 I guess). Technically live area is supposed to auto-refresh, but it's really dumb that the compatibility checker doesn't pull from the server at all before it errors out.

And I don't mind paying the higher price, I got my extra $40 of use byhaving it a few months early.

I'm trying to think of a good setup to use my Playstation TV on one of my PC monitors. I have a free HDMI port but unfortunately my monitor doesn't have built in speakers. I'm not sure exactly what to do about sound.

Does anyone currently have a setup like this?

Does the screen have an audio output somewhere? Otherwise there's HDMI audio extractors/splitters/breakouts like this one to split audio out of the HDMI signal to usual audio outputs. From there you can hook that up to the speakers directly or passthrough your PC or whatever you want.

You'll have to get an audio splitter or live without the audio.

Can the PSTV do remote play over wifi from another location? Like if I took it to another person's house could I use it to play a PS4 game?

Is there a list that is not the list from the official PS blogcast with compatible games for Playstation TV? I think the official one doesn't get updated as much.

I'm currently enjoying Danganronpa on my Vita TV but has there been any movement on streaming apps. No Youtube or Netflix this far out is getting really annoying. I like my Vita TV but it is frustrating when it has the potential to be so much more.

Getting really hard to find Vita memory cards here in the UK. Most stores have stopped selling them :/

GAME - None
Grainger Games - None
Argos - None
Amazon - None (Third party only)
Tesco - None
ASDA - None

Have these things been discontinued?

If that list is accurate, there are a lot more games compatible than I honestly thought were based on the lack of information. I'm almost a little skeptical to believe it, because I got real excited when I saw Lumines was on there, but I could have swore that I heard that game was not compatible. If it is though, I'm gonna have to pick it up.

Watch out for games that are compatible but only in certain regions.

I do, and use Bluetooth headphones. You may even be able to route the signal through your phone.

I guess a bluetooth speaker would work, like a Bose Soundlink or something?

How weird... I'm going to hook up a PSTV to my computer monitor and run sound through a bluetooth speaker to stream games from my PS4.

This is so stupid I have to go try it tonight.

What you need is a HDMI audio extractor.

Expect these to get a lot more common as many things are going HDMI-only with no analog or optical outputs at all. Many Blu-ray players, for instance, now have HDMI out and... that's it.

Whoah. That lists Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 and Ys Memories of Celceta as compatible with their physical release in the US. Is that right? I've only heard of both as always being incompatible, and my purchase of the system has hinged on those two games. Does anyone around here have physical copies to confirm?

Problem with this list is apparently EU JP and US are totally separate for the PS TV's list and this isn't reflected. There seem to be many things the EU can't play the US can't.

edit: oh, it does show region exceptions. Maybe it's fine then

I just use a 3.5mm to take the monitor's audio into the PC, works well. Most but not all HDMI monitors should have a 3.5 out. Be warned the 3.5 out might be a bit noisy, I had to tinker a bit with monitor/windows device volume to get a good volume level with no static

I don't know what list you're looking at but YS and Neptunia both say "Japan and Asia only"

Ahh. I was misreading it. I mistook the PSTV column for digital version, and I thought the physical column was for PSTV, rather than Vita only. Thanks.

Got Neptunia Re;Birth 2 and tried it briefly on my Vita TV. Looked great. Then I thought "Hey! Maybe they surprised us and made Re;Birth 1 compatible!"

...Nope. T_T

I checked the PlayStation Store on my US version of PlayStation TV today, and noticed it's now listed there. I just tried my cartridge version of the game, and can confirm that it is compatible!

You have to click the "refresh" icon at the top of the LiveArea screen before you can begin the game. You also need to enable the simulated touch controls (click L3 to activate a pointer for front touch) in order to navigate the menus.

Sweet! Definitely gonna go pick this up after class tomorrow afternoon then, because I know a few places I can find it cheap.

I'm really glad I picked it up during the sale recently then

Every damn time I play Lumines

"One game won't hurt"
/me looks @ timer
80 minutes
God dammit...
Something about this game hooks me in and doesn't let go but then I get pissed at how long I lasted for just a single game and then don't touch it again for months.

Picked one up. RP is working fine for what I've tested. Any way to get Vita games from my download list to the thing in an easier way than scrolling through a 15 pages long download list? Sorry, if that's been asked before.

Don't expect YouTube.

Sony officially deprecated the YT app on the PS Vita.

If it's not supported on the Vita, it is most certainly not going to be supported on the PSTV.

Something that slipped under the radar for me is the Network Media Player!

https://store.sonyentertainmentnetw...ayer/cid=EP9000-PCSF00635_00-NASPOCKET000SCEE

Saw it posted in a thread yesterday, fired it up on the Vita TV and sure enough it recognised my ReadyNAS network drive and I was streaming my stuff from there instantly.

How did I miss this and why didn't Sony make a bigger deal of it? Something I have been complaining about since launch was lack of DLNA which was on the presentation slides.

No such app in NA :(

Sweet. Now I hope they follow suit with Wipeout 2048.

So, I've been going back and forth on this for awhile, and I think I'm going to do so. Never had a PSP or Vita, and I have more or less sold my PS3 to my younger cousin so I don't have access to some of the PS One classics so much anymore. So, I'm thinking of just getting the system, doing mostly physical copies and having one PSP or PS One Classic on there at a time and deleting it as a finish them. Is that plausible or should I at least get a 4 GB stick? Definitely not going to bother with the rest of the sticks, way too expensive.

Get the bundle it comes with an 8GB stick.

The bundle with the Dualshock 3? That's what I was planning to get.

EDIT: Okay, I see now. I was not aware that the $99 bundle on Amazon was the same as the as the $139 one posted in the OP. Awesome, well that solves any space issues, maybe can sell off that Lego game for a few bucks.

Saw the $60 at BestBuy and almost bit. I mean it seems like a must have if you have a PS+ membership but the thing is just so under supported.... Conflicted.

Do you have a PS4? If so then you can just wire this baby in and have remote play in another room. Pretty stable and good enough response times from the controller.
