Dead or Alive 5: LR PC delayed to March 30. Online modes coming within 3 months.

So I just had a disturbing thought as to why the game might be delayed. What if they're taking the extra month and a half to implement some kind of anti-mod system? Change up to a new encryption... put in some kind of verification, etc.

Naturally, modded costumes are going to cannibalize DLC sales... and remember the lawsuits and attack against ninjahacker.net back in the 90's.

Would they really risk pissing off people that badly? Probably not... but still a disturbing thought...

To be completely honest, I think you should relax a bit. Just in general.

lol. Talk about jumping to conclusions.

Just for the record since it's hard to read emotion through words on a monitor... I'm not angry or upset- so nothing to calm down about.

It was just a thought I had since they have a record of being anti-mod and PC is obviously the easiest platform to mod on. I know I'm probably dead wrong... but it's not totally out of the realm of possibility.

Well that's interesting but we sill don't know if the PC version will include the 2 stages and soft engine update

If they keep avoiding the question i'm going to guess it won't

That just means it's not a straight port. So I'm pretty sure it has those features, but they had to do it differently (for example no post-fight scenes at 30fps and with different features).

Yeah I honestly don't care when this game comes out as long as I know that I'm getting the proper version of it. I can wait, I have a loooooot of games to play.

I got a prompt response from Tecmo Koei.

Guess that could mean they are using the arcade build as a base... since the RingEdge 2 is basically a PC.

But what's with all the vague answers? All people want to know is if PC gets softengine, stages, hair, etc... they have to know by now if that content is on the table or not.

I already bought DoA 5 twice as it is and a bunch of costumes to boot, when I still had my PS3. I was already annoyed it was coming out in February and netplay being implemented in May with KT distracting people with weak preorder incentives on Steam but, this hilarious. I don't think I'll be buying this a 3rd time at all now.

Yep, it's making me leery about this being a shit port.

That is confirmation of a shit port. You guys seem to be new to Team Ninja's dev speak. They master not saying anything in a lot of words.

After all these evasive answers I'm fully expecting the PC version will be significantly inferior to the current gen release.

Go on KT surprise me, I dare you.

Is the irony here supposed to be that you've somehow managed to explain even less in more words? You don't even have a twitter limit to hide behind.

Are you telling me I need to work for them. :p

Really though this is gonna be rough. There are all the warning signs.

Definitely just gonna get it on PS4 at this point. I figured that with the online mode pending development this wouldn't turn out great.

Another half-baked PC port, didn't know so many devs were allergic to money.

We'll see if Namco can do it right if that rumor is true; it might make me feel better about TK7.

so what does the pc version... have?

is it just a barebones arcade port like blazeblue?
Yep that's my guess.

The wait for a decent 3d fighter on the PC continues.

Christ, what is the point then?

"DOA5, finally on PC* (years late), preorder now to unlock a few of the thousand costumes available!"
"Oh btw, no multiplayer for 3 months lol"
"Actually, the whole thing's delayed, still no multiplayer at launch lol"
"*based on the PS360 version no one wants and doesn't include all Last Round content"
"...10% off."
"Preorder now, dickheads! :D"

Vote with your wallets guys. Support this and you're showing these clueless developers it's ok to make horrible PC ports.

It's a shitty situation that seems to come up more and more these days, where Japanese devs put half-hearted attempts up and use it to gauge whether or not they should pursue the PC more aggressively. If it doesn't sell then it hurts the chances of more stuff, but if we all buy in then we're supporting lazy ports.

Fuck that.
If T/K wants to pull this shit, I hope DoA PC bombs totally to hell.
They can pull every other game they have planned for PC if it bothers them that much.

Just burn it all down.

/facepalm

Seems like I was expecting too much from KT. And by "too much" I mean a standard PC port with zero extra content/options compared to the console version.

Support this and show there's a market for these games.
History have shown that Japanese devs gets better if their game sell well.

Dark Souls was a shitty port, Dark Souls II was a great port.
Metal Gear Rising was lackluster and locked to 1080p, Ground Zeroes was a great port.

I vote with my wallet. I want Dead or Alive on PC.

Also Tecmo Koei Europe looks as clueless as we are on this matter. Basically redirecting us to what has been said on the site.

Well I don't know about you, but I'd rather not get something at all then get a completely shit, no effort product.

Obviously everyone is free to buy what they want, but anyone who buys this can't really complain about shitty PC ports.

Yea you totally have a point

...wait this is their second effort. Just as horrible as the first one. Dynasty Warriors came out on Steam missing a whole mode (online co-op). Dead or Alive now coming out on Steam missing a whole mode (online).

Keep supporting shit and you get shit on. I'd rather not get shit on by TK.

Personally I have no problem with not investing in a product that isn't worth it. But yeah, it is an aggravating pinch.

Shame that the only fighter that gets decent treatment on PC is a game incapable of holding my interest for very long.

The only thing to complain right now is about the delay and the online mode. For now, I don't see how this is a shitty port at all.

Also, I rather have something than nothing. As I said, it's easy to improve something that exist.

If you ignore the extra stages, customization and hairstyles I guess.

I wonder if they ever improved that Dynasty Warriors game on Steam. They've had months to patch that so I'm sure they did, right?

There's a little difference between a bad game and a good game without some bells&whistles. Lacking some hairstyles and stages doesn't suddenly turn DoA5 into a crappy fighting game. It's still excellent. However, I wouldn't preorder the game and I'd wait for some impression on the netcode, because that could really make a big difference in gameplay.
