Btw, am I the only one who got a tiny "John Wick" feeling when Ollie rampaged through the club?
I think that's kinda what they were going for.

I can see that. Definitely feel like they drew from John Wick, and maybe even Collateral for that scene.

Hong Kong stuff has not been completely useless recently. It still isn't that great, but they're using it to expand on some of the relationships, so it doesn't bother me. I wonder if the flashbacks are going to be done after this season or if they are really ging to take us through all 5 years. What's next for Oliver then? Russia? Then back to the island?

It was also the long hair and the beard for me XD

Didn't they say the flashbacks would go till the end of the series and they would end with the scene on the island that the series starts with?

We still have the future (Legion of Superheroes), the past (Oliver guest starring in Gotham), Apokolips, Phantom Zone and an entire season of flashbacks where Oliver becomes a puppet.

Laurel still useless.

She literally just started with the ass kicking. Give her a bit, this is her trial by fire.
I mean, she got cut with a knife, beaten down, jumped through a window to a helicopter and she is STILL going. Hell, she barely even cared about getting thrown around so much and was in her high heels a moment later and took out some dude.

Cut her some slack, she's got a good base to build on.

Also, that suit looks sexy as fuck on Katie Cassidy.

So if Brick was arrested before does that mean his whatever powers are recent? If the dude can take billets and arrows then I don't see how a jail could hold him

What if we find out he literally IS made from brick now (or at least a meta) and instead of Flash saving the day somehow, we get Ray with an unfinished suit but with his "hardlight lasers" take him out?

Magic herbs and his "will to survive"
What bullshit. Such a cop out.

Not magic herbs...penicillin tea...it tastes like penicillin!

When they showed the distance that Oliver fell, and then showed him without a single broken bone, and with just that stab wound that managed to miss every vital organ....yeah, complete bullshit.

Hopefully...hopefully they'll pull a "you were really dead" thing, but they're certainly not setting it up for that.

Also, Laurel pretending to be Sara is a bit too far for me...it's really disgusting what they're doing to Detective Lance. "Yeah, your daughter has been dead and buried for months, but we pretended that she was alive. Not only that, but you know the memories of the last time you saw her? and the last time you spoke with her? Yeah, those are all lies...see, I was pretending to be her to rob you of them!" I'm sorry, you cannot spin this as good intentions, not when four of them are in on the con.

Well to be fair, the show isn't painting her keeping him in the dark as the "right thing" at all. It's basically being called out as shit on every turn, but she is just pulling through with it. I think we all know this will lead to him actually dying and her going crazy over it.

OK episode, although VigiLaurel really sucked. She's better as attorney.

edit - the more and more I think about episode... it was not even "OK". It was passable.

Heh, it was as I said it would be. Oliver STRAIGHT UP survived the stab, fall, and who knows how much time on the snow . But one thing bugged me as hell at the very start of the episode:
di84ywe.jpg

WTF happened? Mistake by CW.... or just a perfect opportunity for Wozly to tell us WHAT REALLY HAPPENED between Oliver and Katana while sad Maseo was pacing outside of that hut in the snow. :D :D :D

I got angry when Laurel didn';t tell him immiedietely. But once that lie happened it's kind of easy to understand why she keeps it up. The more time passess the more difficult coming clean becomes, so she puts it off, while realizing it's only making thing worse. I think most of did experience something like this.

I really liked that fight scene in the club, but aside from that, the episode was really meh. It just breaks my suspension of disbelief that the city leaders would not only meet with Brick, but then also agree to surrender the Glades. No, fuck that. That's approaching Flash VS Cold & Heatwave levels dumb ("YOU GOTTA CROSS THE BEAMS!!!"). Unlike Slade, Brick doesn't have an army of super soldiers to take over the city, just random thugs. Speaking of Slade, it's funny how the appearance of his super soldiers had like no visible effect on the Arrowverse. Nobody is talking about.

I feel like Amell doesn't get enough credit. Dude's definitely got the range; compare Island Ollie to Modern Ollie. They're practically different people. It's just that Modern Ollie is a stoic, kinda stiff dude.

In the flashbacks Amell just acts more clueless and doesn't brood as much. He still has that same lame posture in every scene and does that lip curl whatever when he acts angry or frustrated. It's as annoying as Colton Haynes' wide eyes in every action scene close up.

Roy was actually cool wtf, he looked like the protagonist for a second the, watch out Oliver lol

Also I want Malcolm Merlyn to start kicking ass again.

Need a gif of that triad henchman in the club getting knocked unconscious by getting flipped over a railing onto a couch.... Looked so sloppy.

Other than that, great episode!

We all know how this "pretend to be Sarah" thing will end, right?

S3 finale, end. Daddy Lance dies of heart attack.

Yep. No other way :(

So this lady right here is Kelly Hu who also voiced Lady Shiva in Arkham Origins.

Neat.

vlcsnap-2015-01-29-14vdd1k.png

Well...she did star in multiple episodes already. The only real question is if he had this pretty wig before why did go for the terrible one from S1 :D

We could use Lady Shivs on Arrow. Cast JeeJa Yanin :D

Really liked the episode and especially Laurel. I like her brawling style, her fighting style with the batons gives her weight and makes it a lot more believable that she could beat up a guy who has almost double her weight. Plus of course the fact that she got cut and beaten and was still back in he suit an hour later.

EDIT: And of course she kicked Brick in the Nads

Didn't like how Oliver lived cause of the snow and cold and his 'will to live' that's just bullshit. Should have went with the full magical explanation instead of the totally stupid unbelievable one. At least with the former we can slightly justify it by saying it's a TV show and not just that but one based on a comic book.

Should've went full on it's been a year or something. From the previews it looked like he'll be back next episode.

or they should've went full on Lazarus pit.

Because the *Giant Pit Of Gloop* Makes more sense then *Magic Herbs*

Seriously re-read that statement. Do it over and over again until you realize that it's absolutely silly and a pointless argument.

Here's the thing. Neither the Pit or the Herbs were ever mentioned in the show before. Allusion, hints, easter eggs, none of that actually means a Lazurus Pit exists until the show says it does. So if they want to say this is herbs, they can because they're literally creating the mythos of the show as they go along.

Now stop with the silly "my preferred made up thing is better than their preferred made up thing."

I love that the next episode is basically The Dark Knight Rises.

AGAIN! Cause they did Dark Knight Rises in Season 2! Though maybe that was more of a The Dark Knight moment where Oliver/Bruce had doubts and then Team Arrow/Alfred convinced him that the city needed him.

But will pushups help heal a massive stab wound in the abdomen? I mean, they did heal Bruce's fucked up vertebrae in TDKR.

Yeah it's weird because the end of S2 was straight up TDKR, and I loved it. But, hey I guess if they want to do it again but even better and bigger I'm all down. TDKR is great, suck it haters.

I'd just like to say that this whole 'hiding Sara is dead from chest hair' plotline is the dumbest attempt at forced drama I've ever seen.

I'm extremely pissed off the dumb ass writers of the show had Oliver fall a ridiculous height on a MOUNTAIN with no substantial injuries like a broken back.

He survives which itself is miraculous and then they expect him to recover after some Penicillin?

This show needs better consultants.

They made a point of showing Oliver in a state of rigor mortis in the episode before this one. Or were they trying to show that he was frozen stiff?

Maybe he's dead and the rest of the show is all a dream.

It really doesn't matter to me how they saved him. He was coming back regardless and there are plenty of things in the show that are unrealistic/ don't make sense
pretty much any God-like thing Felicity does with her computer
. If they say it was magical herbs, fine by me.

But it's fun!

Both the herbs and the Lazurus Pit may not have been stated/shown/existed in the series before, but the very existence of Mirakuru and and Omega serum allows them to be used in the speculation debate.

Personally, I'll judge the show on Oliver's recovery after the season ends instead of judging prematurely since the show's track record has been mostly positive when it comes to twists. But speculation is part of the fun and shouldn't be discredited especially when the show has given us hints to both sides (regardless of which explanation "makes more sense")

In regards to the healing herbs...
All of season 1 was him pulling out herbs from the island that was THE cure-all for any ailment. It wouldn't be farfetched that an ancient group of ninja assassins would have the same herbs or something even more powerful on top of any poisonous or other deadly herbs they may have in their possession. Who's to say they didn't get their hand on some Mirakuru with everyone and their DJ turning up as a spy. I'm still waiting for a scientist in Central City to be revealed as a League member.

In regards to The Lazurus Pit...
Sometimes being subtle is a nice way to foreshadow, than hitting someone over the head with a statement that would be totally obvious. We aren't kids that need everything telegraphed in big bold words. Ra's saying its "been 67 years since a man challenged me" tells us there is something going on with his mortality that is far from the norm. And although this is the Tv-verse, If your familiar with comic/animation cannon, Ra's character and the Lazurus Pit are one in the same (if you are doing it right). If the writers don't explain Ra's longevity than it will be the biggest copout in the series.

The beginning of the season told us one thing only to surprise us later on. Canary's killer, DJ Douche, Ra's, Laurel, etc.. have played with our expectations and have paid off in some way, even when we were expecting the worst. We still don't know the full story of Masao and his wife. Much like Canary's killer, we can pretty much guess what happened, but like everything else that's been setup, the way that it's been or will be revealed may pleasantly surprise us.

Again, I hope they explain Ollie's recovery, rather than it being the typical 80-90's explanation of "walk it off". But I'll wait til the season ends and we find out why Masao needed to call his wife to do something he could have done on his own, before I call Ollie's recovery total BS ( and the second biggest copout in the series)!!

Maybe they drop a giant herbal tea bag in a pool of water and thus Ra's has his Lazarus pit.

:>

The writers literally said "you don't just resolve a thing like your main character dying in one episode, it will be a mystery teased throughout the season" after the episode before last night's so I'm gonna assume there's some shit gonna go down with the way Ollie is alive.

Speculation and theorizing is one thing. When people start arguing that magical thing A makes more sense or is more logical than magical thing B (especially when neither thing has been explained at all in the show) then people are just being silly as hell.

Maybe they drop a giant herbal tea bag in a pool of water and thus Ra's has his Lazarus pit.

:>

I chuckled.
