So I just got back from my hunt, landed a single Toon Link and Lucario. The Toys r Us in Madison Heights had a decent amount behind the counter actually. I got there at 10 and the store was already open, a line at the counter. I got in line expecting it was pre-orders only, but I was able to get a Lucario without any trouble. They didn't say there was a restriction on how many one person could buy, but there was a few people behind me and I know their stock was getting low so I didn't want to screw those people over. I headed to the one in Southfield after and when I was walking over to where the Amiibos were, I saw a lady with a Lucario in hand. Turns out it was the last one they had. I ended up checking out a couple other locations and calling around, but everyone was already sold out by 11 in the area.

I really tried to get two, one for each of you, but alas I only have one. Considering your gents' offers, I'm willing to trade for your Little Mac superNESjoe if that's still on the table. Gurrey, I hate to let you down, but as of now I'm more inclined with superNESjoe's offer to be honest. If he doesn't get back to me I'll definitely hold on to Lucario for you. I'd say give your local TrUs a call if you have the time to pick one up soon, but they probably won't hold be able to one for you. Every one I've called though was in the know about the situation and had no problem checking stock for me.

When I worked at GameStop and Skylanders was huge, we had scalpers coming in right as UPS would deliver. They were looking to buy them all up. We would just tell them we had none and would wait about an hour to put them out. We would also call all the local GameStops to tell them to hold their figures. I didn't want a kid's Christmas to be ruined because their parent couldn't afford a $12 figure.
 
There was some funny business going on at my TRU. The guy in the front of the line bought 4 amiibos, Falcon, Lucario, Shulk and Pit. I Falcon and put weren't there earlier in the week.

Yes. In fact, I just checked, all of the Super Mario line are gone from Amazon NA and not just "Currently Unavailable" but the listings are gone.

Toad is currently not available anywhere else for preorder on NA sites. However, you might still be able to import from other sites.

Wave 4 Pre-orders haven't been posted anywhere yet in NA, right?
No Wave 4 preorders have been posted anywhere in NA in-store or online, yet. However, newegg.com is the only NA site that has the listings for all of Wave 4 and Super Mario series but only for "Auto-Notify". No preorder yet.

Wait, so Toad is sold out everywhere, or he hasn't been listed anywhere other than Amazon?

Importing really isn't going to be an option for me as I currently have all North American Amiibos and want to continue with the full set from North America.
 
Welp, just finished driving a friend to work who broke his leg and thought I would go out amiibo hunting now. After reading these stories it seems to not be worth the time.

The only thing I hate more then this situation is scalpers who profit from it.

Unless you're keeping them unopened, you're missing out for no reason. The figures themselves are identical across all regions. The only difference is the packaging.
 
For all the shit scalpers (deservedly) get, taking them out of the equation wouldn't change the fact that a lot of people won't be getting these characters. Buying an entire stores stock is still scummy as hell though.

Not getting them would be an easier pill to swallow, for me at least, if I didn't know that it was because of someone else causing it just to make a profit for themselves.

Got to TRU about a half hour after opening because I had a few other stops on my way over.

Woman told me Lucario sold out 3 minutes before I got there. Thanks Obama. Good thing my friend had preordered some extras so me and my buddy can get those at least.

Target dcpi for Rosie didn't work, doesn't look like they'd even have the space for her, and that alludes to that rumor I heard about the second half of the wave not being in stores.

Wasn't a total wash: I got Love Potion Pop Fizz lol
 
At our TRU there were 2 other guys and a grandma. They had 2 that weren't preorder so we gave one up to the grandma who was getting it as a birthday gift. The other 3 of us had the cashier pick a number 1 to 100 and each guessed. I was closest so I got it. As we were doing this 5 others walked up but the cashier told them they were out unless they had preorders. Its nuts man.

damn it had to come down to the pick a numbers game, i would have walked out and sent a corporate email. Its getting ridiculous, these things should have more shelf space.

That was a great way to handle the situation, especially letting that grandma get it for her grandchild. Good on you & the other people. A shame more stories couldn't be handled this way.

Oh don't get me wrong the situation even now sucks. But them being region free has at least cracked open a window for many. If these things were region locked. Oh man things would be absolutely more horrible than they are now and it's already pretty bad.

I guess, but why should I have to pay extra for over seas amiibos because Nintendo wants to torture it's fans?
 
Called tru to ask when I can expect to receive my wave 3 Pre-orders. Rep sighed, said, "we don't know" and then insisted I cancel the order and just try to find them in store. I refused, asked for a manager. They told me shit was fucked, comp'd my lucario /bowser then emailed me a $100 voucher to ease the pain of the hunt till my online order shows up. I just wanted to know an ETA, but okay. What a mess.

You shouldn't at all. I'm not saying this makes up for it. Just for people who absolutely want one and can't find one due to NoAs shitty handling of the situation there's still a option.

Went to TRU a little early. Three other guys showed up. Target employees ask what we're waiting for. We say "Lucario". They enter the building. Half an hour later the manager tells us that there's only one left as the rest were pre-orders. Two of the guys leave in disappointment while one stays to back up my story in case other people barge in.

Seven more people show up five minutes before opening (again, no tickets were handed).

They open the doors and we powerwalk to the Amiibo isle in the back. No Lucario. People are upset. Electronics desk lady sternly informs that there are only pre-orders left. I keep my cool and go to the manager I spoke to before. She thankfully kept the Lucario in the back stock. An employee gets it for me and I pay for it.

I thank her and get it while thanking the guy that stuck around. (If the Lucario was loose, I would have lost it anyways, but it was great to see someone do that.) I found out he was a fellow Gaffer earlier as well. If you're reading this dude, thanks again.

Now for the twist (which I told him before):

I don't even want Lucario. I was thiiis close to letting one of the other guys take it when we heard there was one left, but I worked for it so I stuck with it. Now that I have it, I'm expectantly indifferent. I would have been much happier if I found a Toon Link (but won't trade Lucario for Toon Link, obviously). I'll probably sell this Lucario very soon for non-scalper price. Welp, one way to spend a morning!

Managed to get a Lucario thanks to some inside help.

Also, it appears I will have doubles of Sheik and Megaman if anyone is interested in working out a trade for a US Little Mac, WFT or Villager
 
Has anyone had a good experience receiving any of the rarer Amiibos from newegg.com? Gearing up for Wave 4 pre-orders I'm mainly watching the bigger stores: Gamestop, Amazon, Best Buy, etc. I didn't realize newegg sold amiibos, but I don't want to potentially jump in there (should the opportunity arise) only to later have pre-orders canceled or something.
 
Also I want to give props to my local Game Stop. Say what you will about their brick and mortar stores but they let me know what I can reserve as soon as I can and call me as soon as the new ones trickle in to pick them up. My Game Stop is great,
