Super Bowl XLIX |OT| The Butler Did It

I get the "if he caught it we wouldn't be having this conversation" but if they ran it they wouldn't need to be having to have that conversation. Still can't believe it. Right after that crazy catch too. Was 07 and 11 all over again. Brain couldn't take it. Gave up like a defeated bad fan. Was shocked right after butler caught it. Happened so fast it didn't even register right away. Still can't believe we won. Think pats really deserved it more since they hadn't won for a while and Seattle just got one last year. Here's to Revis re structuring his contract for a long term deal

I don't know shit about football, and only caught the last couple of minutes of the game, but I see people posting that the Hawks would have had three tries if they didn't lose the ball at that last part (1 yard line)? Is that for real? They gave up three tries to try some glory pass?

Kind of amazed Pete is falling on the sword the way he is.

Defense choked the game. Russell threw the interception. Bevell called the play. Lynch is not a good goal line back. But Pete is the one taking the blame, truly a great HC.

The HC has the authority to change the play call. It's ultimately on him for letting that play go through. Good on him for taking the blame, but it is on his shoulders.

What a game. Still floored by that glorious last reception. Still ashamed of that fight. Always heartbroken by that interception.

Go Hawks.

Maybe they should have coaxed him off the field the way Lions coaches get Stafford to come out - with the promise of free tacos.

Not sure if this is supposed to be a shot at me, as I am always criticizing Stafford's conditioning.

2nd down Run
3rd down Run
4th down Run

They would've had a couple of shots at scoring if it wasn't for that interception. That's the part that's baffling EVERYONE. Like, why the fuck do you not hand over the ball to Beast Mode and let him run 5 feet?

It was probably the worst call in history.

Yup. They through on 2nd down. Starting on 2nd down they had 3 shots at scoring. One could argue that if they ran twice and failed to get it in the end zone (most likely losing yards on the plays) then they should have thrown it.

Not a good goal back, 2nd and 1. I mean...wilson could have ran it in.

Lynch is supposedly 1 and 5 this season for TD's on the 1 yard line.

Also, Pete said they didn't have the right personnel that he should just call a timeout.

Than what happens if Lynch gets stopped, could they even run another play with no more timeouts?

Kind of amazed Pete is falling on the sword the way he is.

Defense choked the game. Russell threw the interception and was generally terrible. Bevell called the play. Lynch is not a good goal line back. But Pete is the one taking the blame, truly a great HC.

In this instance he couldn't quit and leave for the NFL to avoid the blame.

Seahawks are going to enter a dark era. I doubt they get into the playoffs for the next 3 years.

I would be happy about this if if it weren't for the fact that the 49ers are facing an even darker era now with the forced departure of Jim Harbaugh and the hiring of yes-men who will do what the awful ownership tells them to in his place.

There was a very very small chance the running back wouldn't have got to the end zone In 3 plays. They made a weird call and threw it and Thats how the pats won

It was probably the worst call in history.

The Pats allowed opponents to score 81% of the time in power situations (runs on 3rd/4th & <2, or w/i 2 yds of goalline). Dead last in NFL.

Let's throw it on 2nd down.

Wow, that's just bananas. I see what people are saying about them throwing away the win.

There's no chance in hell that one of those dudes couldn't have closed the gap by clutching the ball and blasting their way through.

Wilson is taking up like 30% of your salary cap once that season starts.

So i turned off the tv and staying away from social media but for those of you that watched can you tell me did anyone admit to that play call yet? Was it darrell bevell or pete caroll? Or did russell audible into it?

Second, third, and fourth down. Yep, three tries.
