Life is Strange | Spoiler Thread

I use the thumb rule of just thinking of anyone being the opposite alignment from what they are being presented in episode 1. Except Max and maybe Chloe, but including the plant.

What if the plant is an alien tho?

That be hella weird.

So according to 9gag there is a collectible mode in this game. What is this sorcery and how does it work?
How does that site still exist

Anyway, once you've finished the episode when you select "start game" you can enter collectible mode which is based on your completed save. You're able to jump into any location to look for photographs and interactions you missed or play around trying out different choices, but only collectibles progress will be saved.

Is it just me or were some of the licence plates references to old scifi shows. It kinda looked like warrens said 'The X files' and Chloe's said 'Twin Peaks'. Or maybe im just going crazy :-/

Also love the name Warren G :P ----Regulators---

Eh, at least he got
that creepster off you.
Yes, that was really sweet. I understand he likes Max and wants her attention, but when playing Max, the last thing I wanted to do was give him attention.

You are not, there are more references in the game, like Redrum (The Shinning).

God damnit why the hell didn't they mention that after I finished episode 1? I missed a picture and actually started a second playthrough and had to sit through every dialogue again.
Well, at least I have a second save file with alternative choices for fun...

The one line that made my purchase worth it.

Victoria is gonna be my Paris Geller. I will wage war on her on my second file though.

Lol Paris... that's actually a great way of looking at her. I dunno, she feels highly transparent to me. Definitely puttin on airs. I feel like a few of the characters are purposefully tropey so that they could subvert them later on

Great thread people. You're really opening my eyes to the countless possibilities in this game. I love how almost every character can be interpreted as both bad and good. From the creepy janitor, vile campus security guard, troubled sociopath teenage boy and everyone in between. While playing episode 1 through with my wife she kept saying: "he's the killer" or "Oh no wait it's him". At this point we're not even sure if anyone has been killed.

One thing I noticed is during the final scenes before you talk to Chloe on the bench you can go behind the cabin next to the lighthouse and there's some strange symbols drawn there. Max remarks that they "remind her of the storm". Not sure if they're connected. I'm at work and can't seem to find an image of them online. Can someone confirm they're there and that I'm not going mad?

You're totally
not
going mad. She said that these symbols remind her of the wind. Not sure if it's a reference to something that I don't know of or of something a bit more mystical.

Also, does anybody think that the tornado could be metaphorical?

Maybe those symbols are actually Unowns and the game ends up being re-revealed as a Pokémon spin off game, no?

Yeah, she said they remind her of the wind. I assumed they were vortex club related. They give off a really cult vibe and it seems people from the school go up here and get drunk. They might have rituals or something weird there.

Wait, when Max gets into the pickup with Chloe and they drive off you see a security guard(?) run up to Warren and Nathan, this could be Chloe's dad and if so then he would have surely noticed Chloe's pickup driving off from the school parking lot?

I thought that was supposed her step-dad too. Is there anything wrong with her being on campus? I personally thought he was paying too much attention to the fight.

She no longer goes there from what I gathered. The stepfuhrer seems to really hate rule breakers, so seeing her on school property must have riled him up good.

Ew why would you pick that up?

Thanks again btw! :)
Was testing something
if you pick it up before the usb stick you are forced to rewind it. Then I was trying to get a good screen shot of Dana till she teleported to her bed during the cutscene and got to the point of retrying it to where the test vanished from Max's hands and Dana refused to get up from her bed.

Is anyone thinking Kate is part of some religious cult that had something to do with Rachel's disappearance? That's why David is mad on keeping an eye on her? Maybe the surveillance round the home will capture her spying on Chloe and Rachel - also sort of loosely ties in the end game theme of 'rapture' or armageddon as well..

I think Kate was date raped by Nathan like he attempted to do to Chloe (she mentions a camera, Kate's gossip involves a sex tape). I'd say David's probably looking into Nathan (probably the Vortex Club) and is trying to get information out of her because of all the rumors about her.

If there's any cult it's going to be the Vortex Club (not a coincidence the town is being consumed by a giant vortex), and some of the posters you find for the club look a lot like the tornado.

I think that's what happened to Kate myself which would explain why her depression has skyrocketed in recent weeks and why she probably didn't want to talk about it. I also think that intervening when David is harassing her could allow her to open up to Max since she seemed so grateful.

I was thinking earlier that the tornado could be metaphorical, never thought that the vortex club could be related, which now seems like a fairly obvious step to take with that theory

It could still be metaphorical, telling Max to look in that general direction. Like the Vortex Club, whatever it is, is destroying the town in a more figurative sense. But I think they're connected to the overall plot for sure.

I wish the plot wouldn't involve rape, but I admit that sounds like a very likely possibility.

I don't know, the game didn't seem like something that would deal with something that heavy. People more familiar with the dev, did Remember Me or whatever else do that?

Well I mean attempted date rape is pretty heavy already and that's already in the first episode. And I mean this is also ground covered by Veronica Mars, which feels like it might be an influence here.

I haven't seen much of VM, but my sister watched me play LiS and she kept mentioning how similar that plot point was to VM.

I don't even really mean the plot (though there are certain striking similarities) as much as it was a CW show aimed at late teens / early twenty somethings involving high school kids, and it dealt with it, so I would not be surprised to see it here.

I wonder if I'm the only one who got scared when I watered the plant. That damn things going to be a boss fight I hope

Yep, this is exactly what I think, though I hadn't thought about Madsen that way. Poor Kate. :(

Nope, I totally pictured walking in to the room later and it's just vines everywhere. Jumanji style.

the plant is probably just going to whiter and die if you don't water it, just like all other "decisions" that can be missed, it probably will not feature heavily in the main plot

Ill go out on a limb here and say that Rachel is time hoping around the town. Theres a lot of people who like her, in many different circles, which makes me think she was doing just like Max does, talked to people, found out what they liked, rewinded and now are best friends. Nathans family being so old must have something to do with the power, maybe from the native Americans who "bonded" with the colonizers? That doe, tho.

I think its pretty obvious that the next 4 episodes will take place in a day each, since the Tornado will hit the town in four days.

Guys, you know how
-The camera broke again after being fixed by the reversal of time
-We see Chloe obviously in danger of being hit by a train despite us saving her from the rich douche
-Stuff falls every time even if Max knows it's happening.
etc

What if it's like Lost where certain things have to happen at some point even if we prevent them from happening initially...? ._.
