Final Club Nintendo Rewards Catalog out

Startropics 2 and Wonderful 101 get! The site has been surprisingly responsive this morning. Had to bust out an old hard drive I had forgotten I had in order to download W101, but at least now I get to see what all the fuss about.

Only had enough coins for one "good" gift (minus the puzzle and the messenger back) so I got the second Smash poster set. I figured I can buy any of the games they're offering down the line anyway. I already have enough games I'm not playing.

I hope Mario Kart 8 is one of the Platinum reward choices since my disc copy got jacked at a wedding in November :-(

I hope it isn't bad form to see if anyone wants to trade codes here. I am 30 points shy of getting star fox 64 3D. My buddy gave me some of his codes and I got an extra 30 points (from ocarina of time) that I am looking to trade for another game I don't own.

I own a lot of the 1st party games but there are a few gaps in my collection. I don't have
NSMB2, Tomodachi Life, PW vs Prof Layton, obviously starfox, kid icarus, any of the kirby games, any 3DS pokemon games,

Anyway, let me know if you are interested. Again, if this is bad form I am sorry.

Edit: Never mind, someone said I can add a family member and register my extra code to another email address.

One thing I hope they fix with the next iteration is not penalizing digital purchases. It's not that big of a deal to me as I never banked on these rewards, but it's kind of lame going through my to-do list and seeing all these expired registration surveys for games that I bought from the eShop. Like, a year or two ago I went through all my Wii and DS games and I was still able to get full coin value on almost all of those things years after release. But all these Wii U purchases? I can't get points for the following purchases all made in 2014:

And there's more 3DS stuff from 2013 that I'm not listing out. And you might be thinking "Steve, it's your own fault for not taking the survey when you registered the game." And sure is may be my own fault for not remembering to log in and take the surveys, but the games are automatically registered on purchase. I didn't log in, register the pin, and just decide to be lazy and complete the survey later. This is all stuff in my To-Do list log that shows up as expired when I log in every 3 - 6 months.

Again, not a big deal. I just don't like that if I had bought the physical version, I could have registered the PIN at any point in the future and not been penalized for missing a deadline, as the deadline would be based on when I registered the game (which I would be logged into Club Nintendo to do), and not when I bought it.

This happened to me too and I thought it was really unfair. Worse yet, I got Tappingo through the eshop which registered itself automatically and gave me like only a week to do the survey which I missed out on. This happened like two weeks ago btw when I wasn't really paying attention to club nintendo stuff still. I doubt complaining to nintendo would do anything, but I missed 240 coins from all of the stuff that did this kind of thing.

Yeah, I had the same issues at hand. At least with physical games you have to register it yourself and then survey.
I had many digital game expire because "you have a week to answer these questions". I think next time don't give a time limit on surveys if you are going to have them.

Yes, I have had the same thing happen to me, I even tried calling them to possibly restore some of the surveys but no dice.

I suspect the new iteration will be completely different though, some kind of light version of the old club nintendo with no more physical awards is what most people expect I think so having to fill out surveys will probably be a thing of the past.

Just finished my post plays.

Reached Platinum and have a total of 1100 coins. What to get, GAF?

I'm interested in W101 but I think I'd rather have a physical copy.

Not sure how I feel about the physical rewards. (I could go either way on most of them)

Any suggestions?

I think the Wii Mini thing is dead, just tried it jump from 600 (Wonderful 101) to 700 (Kid Icarus) and it went through, but the survey link just takes you back to the account page.

Sigh.

I actually just checked the history and it says that Tappingo expired the same day I bought it. That's just really messed imo. How was I supposed to know that I had to do this on the day I got it otherwise I'd miss out on it forever?

Wow, that sucks. Most of my history has been at least 3 days to a week.
Honestly what is the point of putting a time limit on surveys? They should just let you complete them when you have time to do so. My life doesn't revolve around games.

I lost like 150 coins because I didn't bother to check the site after I registered a few games.

I don't see why they expire either. I wanted to get sakura samurai, which I would be able to do if I still had the coins but nope just a bunch of expired surveys. Most of them from the digital purchases that registered automatically.

Yeah it really sucks cause they don't tell you about it either. I expected to be able to fill out a shit ton of surveys for digital games before the deadline one year and was really disappointed that they all expired. It just caused me to stop using Club Nintendo till now.

Is there a good way to 20 coins somehow? I'm at 380, just need a bit more to get two 200 coin games.

If you have a 3DS, here's a list of free games/software that you can download that might add up to 20. I can't remember them all off of the top of my head, but some of the games include Rusty's Real Deal Baseball, Steel Diver Sub Wars, Pokemon Bank.

If anyone reading this knows that list of free software, please repost!

Quick question: Is the Mewtwo DLC offer permanently listed on anyone else's "To-Do" list? I've registered both games and that's just posted there and won't go away.

if it's there all the time, it means you're eligible to get Mewtwo for free. that's where you get the code to download him when he comes out.

Speaking of, Mewtwo has to come for sure before the site closes or folks won't get their codes right?

Then again they said Spring, but yeah where's the beef news? :P

Hello easy 40-50 coins. I may actually pull off getting platnium yet.

I think they mentioned the change (of expiration to be shorter), some years ago.

Originally, they gave more time but many were just hoarding surveys to redeem whenever a good reward was posted.

Made sense for us as the customer, but not for what Nintendo wanted which was to survey buyers and reward them for their time and purchase.

Whatever they bring next will probably have this shorter expiration dates, or be automatic like Sony or Xbox Live Rewards...or even Nintendo's own Deluxe Program. You buy a $40 game? There: 40 points, which expire next year. :p

Honestly I don't know. I downloaded Zen Pinball for the coins and haven't really tried it yet. But I will. I tried out Lucadian Chronicles, but it just isn't my thing. It is like a Strategy Card Battle War type game. I just don't really get into those, so I'm not a good judge. It looked pretty good from what I saw but I didn't dig to deeply into it.

Right. If them's the rules then them's the rules. What bothered me though is just that I'm being penalized in a way that is unique to eShop purchases relative to physical. With physical, if I was late I might miss out on 10 "post play" points, but I could still get the full registration value so long as I completed the survey when I entered the pin. If I bought Smash 3DS and Wii U from the store, I'm sure I could still get my 40 and sixty registration points for them if I had the PIN vouchers. But I bought Smash 3DS on launch night and pre-loaded Smash Wii U and those codes automatically registered for me to Club Nintendo. But since I didn't complete the survey within 30 days, I don't get the points.

Most of my concern could be alleviated if more points were given for simply registering the game than taking the surveys. Yes, I understand that they want people to take the surveys, but I think my patronage should be rewarded more than checking boxes on a form. You know, give me fifty points for registering the game and ten points for the registration survey and ten points for the post-play survey. I bought most of these games at full price at launch. That should count for more than 10 points for registering the game.

Waited till the 3rd day and got through with no issue. Just got the Smash posters for now just to be on the safe side just in case they do go out of stock.

Wait a sec, these rewards and this catalog are only for the US CN, right? Because all I see in Europe is the same old things.

right. I assume EU will get their bunch of rewards later? US shop is closing sooner than than the EU one

same here, I'd be at platinum already otherwise :-/

Christ, we're on page 50+ and this is still going?

The European catalogue doesn't close until 3 months after Americas does (Europes closes the end of the last day in september, americas closes last day of june). Even if Europe is going to have a big closing sale like this, it's still months away.
uh, you know, people can arrive late in some threads and still post their complaints/impressions.
didn't know about the 3 months delay, guess we'll have to wait a couple of months to be disappointed yet again. :<

For anyone in need of coins: Amazon has brand new copies of Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge for $11, via 3rd party vendors and shipped by Amazon. The code inside should be worth 60 coins.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0050SVH18/?tag=neogaf0e-20
Regarding third party vendors, beware of GoHastings... I bought a copy of this from them several months back and it wasn't shrink-wrapped and the Club code was missing. I was able to return it and get my money back, but it was still annoying.

What bothered me about some digital purchases is that they gave less coins than the retail version. And I think there are some games where digital doesn't give coins at all vs physical. Doesn't make sense if you ask me.

Just like there are digital games that give you coins, while the physical ones do not.
