omg guys omg

It took me just over ten hours to finish the game. I'm sure there are some freaks on GAF who'll manage to do a very quick playthrough, but I imagine most of you normal folks are going to fall along where I did.

The tweet in Begaria's post, quoting the lunatic who is actually playing the game and who lives in Denmark apparently, has yet to even finish the game from the looks of it.

Please stop with the mass panic.

So how good was the game? Did it exceed your expectations?

Now where the fun in that!
Is there a difficulty setting?

No it's hidden behind a paywall DLC. But you can earn it for free if you finish the game 3 times, should take no more than 4 hours. It's on a trophy!

Just to add a bit to this whole length thing, the guy who completed the game has some association with playstation and also said that

To clear things up.
A lot of buzz around my completion of the game.
I played the game a lot before earning my frist trophy.

Second, somebody online called "Lord Lichetsten" or something, claims to know me personally and quotes me for saying how long the game took and what score I would give it.
I do not know this person and as I have answered to a lot of messages, I am not talking about game length, score, story or anything other.

Im just clearing up about the first trophy that I did not get before later in the game.

Let's break this down further

If we take the bolded statement at face value:

the first trophy that I did not get before later in the game

He says he did not get the first trophy until "later" in the game.

If we break the game into three parts, early, middle, and late, we can assume that "later" in the game is indicating it does not come "early" stage. It likely falls somewhere in the "middle" portion.

Now, if we ascertain 5 hours from the time of the first trophy that was earned in the "middle", to the trophy for completion at the "end", then we have middle to end, or half the game time of 5 hours. Thus, we can multiply that by 2 for the full game and we get 10 hours, which lines up with what Verendus said.

Mystery solved folks, 10 hours confirmed.

Hey guys how's it goin-

Oh.

hahahaha

I think it was Dishonored, but before it released there was a report from someone who beat it in 5 hours and everyone was freaking out. My first playthrough (I like to take my time and explore) took me over 20.

You can even beat TLoU in 7-8 hours if you wanted to. A lot boils down to play style.

Crisis averted?

I believe so, especially considering what Verendus said and the fact that Neil Druckmann completed the game, but never obtained that same trophy the other guy got.

Also I believe that the scene where Galahad is wearing the white shirt with no Order jacket takes place at the beginning of the game before he even joins the Order. You can also add a bit of time before you get to use blacksight in the first place after you join the Order.

They haven't announced an embargo date yet. Somebody said the 18th earlier in the thread but they saw a tweet from last February where they lifted the preview embargo for the game on Feb 18th, 2014.

Are you sure about that or are you basing it on the tweet that was posted recently? The one that was from Feb 2014.

Oh really? My bad. I wasn't aware that it was an old tweet. No wonder it was eerily similar to what Tanzen had said after that preview event in London.

I doubt that. He is wearing that wireless transmitter, which i think is not used outside of the Order.

So Neil completed the game already and there hasn't been any word from him about how good the game is. Okay then, I will try not to be pessimistic this time and I assume that he just doesn't have time to tweet.

He's probably not allowed to say anything.

He has the Order radio and dagger in that scene. I think he's just in disguise.

Also it doesn't make sense, because it looks like that level takes place during the industrial revolution, the same time frame where the game is set. And galahad is supposed to be centuries old i think, like the order he belongs to.

Now we know for a fact the 6 hour length rumour was nonsense, does anyone know where it originated from? It seems this 'Lord Lichetsten' the original game completer speaks of, was talking utter rubbish, but enough rubbish that even certain GAF'ers picked up on the news. Just curious as to where the rumour originated from, so that in future I can be more wary of the site.

The original player took five hours between the time he got the first trophy to the time he beat the game. Apparently, though, he was playing for a long time before he got that first trophy.

People saw the five hours and ran with it. But to be fair, most games of this type give out trophies pretty early in the game, so the concerns were legitimate.

Yeah, but often those games have chapter trophies, which is not the case for the order 1886 ;)

True. Guess it makes sense that they're following the Naughty Dog model of trophies, since that's who they're taking inspiration from.

Yes, it really remind me of tlou trophies.

By the way, about the topic of ethnic minorities in the game

She is one of the rebels commander (sorry, for the quality, but it's the best shot i could take :P) .

8-10 hours is fine by me. I loved the first Arkham Asylum and I believe it falls between that range for your first playthrough, next playthroughs might even be finished in 6 or less hours since you know what to do. Maybe this is the case too for The Order.

What's the gameplay to movie ratio like? That will determine whether this is worth a full price pick up or not for me if the gameplay is worthwhile itself.

I know they think the black bars at the top and bottom make the experience more cinematic, and it surely helped with performance... but i'd really like it if they dropped that in the upcoming sequel. It's absolutely unnecessary in the eyes of the gamer, the one experiencing it. It's just so much space of the screen that goes to waste.

If they weren't aiming for such superb image quality, they would've dropped them in favor of 1920x1080 and some decent AA. I'm fine with black borders, and even more so if it means for this sort of image quality. :)
