Persona 5 New Trailer

I kind of want to give this one a go as my first Persona game, but I don't know...the series seems like it might be too out there for me. lol

I wouldn't mind a smaller cast because they never properly use a large cast in gameplay. I wish an RPGS that has like 7 characters but only lets you use 3 or 5 would have a final boss where all 7 fought because the boss was designed in a way to be so challenging that all 7 were needed.

Oh this guy seems powerful.

Lets fight with half our manpower.

It annoys me to death.

Wow, that looks amazing.o.o I hope the PS3 version doesn't suffer, cause I probably won't get the PS4 anytime soon. So it a RPG/stealth game now, and it looks like the characters will turn into the personas or least has some form?
The game is initially a PS3 game, I see no reason for it to not look stellar.

True but Boosting came from Etrian Odyssey right? I think the press turn system will be back in some form.
Oh yes, I just hope some kind of variant since, like I said before, the Press Turn has the great advantage to speed battle so much if you are prepared with the right Personae BUT I was kiiiiind of getting bored with it.

But I guess that could be because I played A LOT of those games (I have two runs of each game and like 100 hours in each game)...

Sweet!! I have SMT IV on 3DS but haven't played it yet (and I loved Persona 4 Golden on Vita). Still stuck playing Pokemon Sapphire. :P
What are you waiting? You are in for a treat =D

A part of me really wants to, because I've matured a bit with all the other SMT games in the last few years, but I have also spoiled myself the ending for DDS and feel somewhat less inclined to try it again now :)
But still, I think the majority of Atlus fans think DDS is way harder than any other Persona game ...

To be honest I played it right after Nocturne, which is notoriously hard. So I might've been way overcautious during DDS1 and got a warped my sense of difficulty. It's kind of a pointless debate anyways, they're all awesome and very enjoyable games, regardless of respective difficulty.

The best solution is for characters not in the party to gain full XP from battles. That way, players will not be tempted to just stick to one set of party members.

I was hoping for fresh, and that was definitely acceptably fresh. I hate stealth stuff, though, so that might bring it down for me. Still, looking good so far.

I've never played a Persona game, is it like Shin Megami Tensei? Only played SMTIV.

The game looks beautiful!

I'm thinking they'll put a slight emphasis on stealth that'll bring down the amount of time needed to grind against enemies perhaps. I think it'd be a good balance.

Dungeon crawling previously didn't offer much of a balance.

Persona is nowhere near as swanky as it visually looks like. Gameplay and plot wise you're looking at pretty traditional stuff.

With this I can totally agree. I loved DDS' style and story-telling, that's why I went and read about that ending on wikipedia :P But it was also my first game in the SMT universe, so maybe we both have a bit of a twisted perception regarding difficulty in this game.

For the record, Persona 1 was the only Persona game that let characters do both Melee and guns. Persona 2 had each character with one weapon type, which may happen to be guns or swords or whatever.

Not a big deal, but I see a lot of people mentioning P2 having dual weapons so I figured it was worth mentioning.

A cat has to be the mascot of this game. They are cat-burglars!

We had a dog and a stuffed animal bear in the last games. It isn't that weird lol.
I haven't played any Persona games so I wouldn't know unfortunately. Batcat just seemed out of nowhere, which isn't a bad thing necessarily since I'm quite accustomed to Randall Keith Orton. I'm in a horror mood these days, so I hope they do a good job of integrating some creepy aspects into this game. A lot of talk of demons in this thread so I imagine that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

This game's trailer kind of reminds me of the cancelled Black Tusk game in a very superficial way. The debut trailer of that a couple years ago also had a bit of a stylised look if i remember right, and it was supposedly about heists. I'd like more games along these lines. A bit more fantastical, but with this kind of big city setting.

With how long this game has been in development at least slightly? You think they have time to greatly enhance the PS4 version?

I mean I hope so, but I don't think so. To me, a nice 60fps @ 1080p would be enough for me... but I'll settle for locked 30fps with no drops and 1080p

Euuhh... I thought you were talking across this gen. On the long term, I could see some japanese games improving on a similar shader. But sure... for this game, should be pretty much on par with what we saw today in the trailer but with smoother framerate and visuals, more refined texture work. Also, depending on the release window they are aiming for this game, I would say yes and especially if they are receiving external help from SCE. What I really expect of Persona 5 on launch is 1080p (downscaled if possible) with a lock 30 fps with all the bell and whistles of current gen visuals.

Even Persona has heists before GTAV.
LOL XD

SMTIV is amazing. What are you waiting for? :(
But Pokeeman!! :(

Technically P3-P4 have "stealth" too, and if I'm gonna guessing despite with these flashy animation the emphasis on that element itself would be as basic as those previous game.

Based on your posts and you not playing any of the previous games, it seems like you're putting too much of an emphasis on the heists for this game.

I see it treading very traditional ground for the most part. Persona just comes across as very confident and different, but the gameplay itself is grounded.

This year, if you're not in Europe.

Wait has it been announced for the US in 2015?
I'm in Europe but in that case there's really no reason to wait considering the game won't be localized.
I'll buy the digital version on the US store or import the retail version.
Great news by the way, an other amazing game to play this year.

I guess we already know this, but this puts the nail in the coffin of a female protagonist?

Persona Q is more canon than P3P FeMC, take that as you will
And P4D could be more canon that FeMC ever was ;__;

You know what's much more annoying than someone going into a thread and saying "this sucks!" without expanding on why? People who endlessly quote the post and replying with their entire collection of gif meme replies which have all been run into the ground years ago.

People should stop being reactionary to one-liner negative opinion. It's not that negative opinion bad per se, but it could derail thread real fast when people started to spam reaction gifs to it, especially when the opinion doesn't make room for debate.

So they are thieves in both real world and other dimension (whatever it'll be)?
Curious to see how they'll influence each other.

Inafune is a businessman who cares about sales. In that sense, he wasn't wrong. Still isn't. At least, in his mind. Remember, he came from Capcom.

Capcom was and still is in bad shape... financially and creatively. So... yeah for Capcom! But not all of them... :P

p.s. I really loved Soul Sacrifice. I would love to see him push the game mechanics and level up its playing field with a proper PS4 port/sequel.

Wow! Just Wow. I just wasn't prepared for that.

Everything looks an improvement over P4. Graphics, menus, cover system, movement, jumping, characters, a cat. I just pray that UK GAF isn't made to wait for this.

Is it only PS3 and PS4 (no vita)?
