Paragon of Decency: So I found some pictures of my boss.....

So many holier-than-thou's. I don't want to or plan to blackmail this dude, but it's just a fucking weird situation now. So very very weird.

Interesting because you did say the following:

So... what do I do now? I make decent money so I don't feel like I should try and blackmail him into a raise or anything, but at the same time these definitely seem like they could possibly be useful some day.

Care to elaborate what you mean when you say "useful"?

The fuck? You just did a full heel turn from stuck in awkward situation to colossal asshole in 5 seconds flat.

Its not even a weird situation. He has nudes of himself and his wife on his cpu and you cover that shit up. You had a good laugh and now you're on to something else, big whoop. Keep it private.

You're not a character in a TV drama, it's not ok to blackmail people.

I want stories. Fuck GlenChivas, this is your thread now.

A particular highlight was an outside sales guy that used his company phone/email to arrange sexy Craigslist meetups in the Texas panhandle while he was on company trips.

I mean, pretty innocuous stuff.

Except he was married, with kids.

And the meetups were with trannies.

A good laugh at the Christmas party? I don't know is my point. You see a ton of pictures of your boss naked and you're not going to feel a little weird afterwards?

Just have your own private laugh (since you've seen them already) and forget you ever saw them.

A good laugh at the Christmas party? I don't know is my point. You see a ton of pictures of your boss naked and you're not going to feel a little weird afterwards?

And you're calling people "holier than thou" when you talk about holding on to pictures to laugh at people.

Amazing.

A good laugh at the Christmas party?

"Hey Boss, you have a really tiny wang."
"How do you know that?"
"Your nudee pictures I found when clearing out your laptop."
"Oh, hahahaha, that's hilarious... Oh, don't come to work tomorrow, you're not getting your Christmas bonus, and I'll see you in court. Thanks for the laugh!"

All they're now good for is as a memory to tell friends (who DO NOT work at the company) the funny story of how you once stumbled upon some nude pics on your boss' laptop.

That's it. As far as you're concerned, when inside that building those photos never existed.

I really do wonder how many of these "I'm considering committing a criminal act. What does GAF think?" threads are for real and how many are some bizarre form of performance art. Seriously, OP, don't fucking blackmail your boss and stop looking at stuff that you have no right to look at.

Damn. It is common to snoop in computers when you want it repaired?

In my very brief experience working for a computer repair shop, yes, yes they go through people's personal stuff. Suffice to say, I quit working there after a week because of that, among many other bad things I witnessed.

I have to say though, it seemed like an extraordinary bad owner that probably doesn't represent the norm... at least, I hope he doesn't represent the norm.

Imagine if your boss was a woman and you found a file called "nudeeee.jpg" and decided WELL BETTER OPEN IT JUST TO MAKE SURE...

...and your first reaction was "should I hold on to these?"

So... what do I do now? I make decent money so I don't feel like I should try and blackmail him into a raise or anything, but at the same time these definitely seem like they could possibly be useful some day.

OP is obviously concerned that his boss might not have a good backup process in place so he could help out by storing them for him, just in case.

So I work for a company doing basic IT and Help Desk types of stuff. And yesterday our CEO asked me if I would mind taking an old laptop that he wanted to give to one of his sons and clean it up a bit. Fresh Windows install, that kind of shit. I told him of course not.
I get to his pictures folder and everything is fine but then something catches my eye. there's our CEO standing base-ass naked in front of a mirror Anthony Weiner style. Then I see ton's of pictures of women's feet and even a folder full of photos of his wife in lingerie.

So... what do I do now? I make decent money so I don't feel like I should try and blackmail him into a raise or anything, but at the same time these definitely seem like they could possibly be useful some day.

That's disgusting OP, do the honorable thing and get rid of those files.

You sure you're not confusing "weird" with "guilt?" Or "shame?" One of those?

Not at all. And again the pics were labeled nude. What young guy is going to see a picture named nude and not click on it? And who the fuck labels stuff like that anyway? If it had been img6484.jpg I couldn't have cared less what it was.

I always respect their privacy and don't go snooping around in their folders.

I get to his pictures folder and everything is fine but then something catches my eye. A file named "nudeee.jpg". Naturally curiosity got the best of me and I couldn't help but click it.

Then I look back at the folder and see that are tons more of these ranging from "nudee.jpg" to "nudee32.jpg". Then I see ton's of pictures of women's feet and even a folder full of photos of his wife in lingerie.

A good laugh at the Christmas party?

Go on.

FFS...

You see a ton of pictures of your boss naked and you're not going to feel a little weird afterwards?

I guess that's the distinction. I wouldn't see them. I'm in IT and have had countless opportunities to see such things, but I make a point not to snoop around people's computers. Sketchy IT guys that rifle through people's personal files and ponder things like blackmail usually go out in a blaze of glory sooner or later.

What young guy?

I'm starting to think this is an elaborate troll thread.

As long as OP viewed them on the computer that was going away, he's good.

He's sounds like an IT newb though, so yeah, he's already dead.

No no, he's done this "countless" times. At the 10 person office in the past 3 months.

COUNTLESS.

He's got it all sewed up.

OP, you should just back off and have a moment of self reflection. Because you were thinking of blackmailing a guy with private pictures that while risque, is not wrong in any way, and they are none of your business.

You know he can check when those pictures were last viewed, right?

Since Windows 7 the Last Accessed date is no longer kept up to date by default to keep drive writes lower, so it's doubtful. Recently opened is still a possibility though.

Yeah it's going to be awkward but that's what you get for snooping. If you value your job you should just pretend you never saw anything.

This is so scummy to even consider jesus...

Act like you never saw them and move on.

It's not even good blackmail material. If you had something on him that hinted toward infidelity or financial malfeasance then your boss might feel beholden to you... but what can you do? "Give me a raise or I release these photos of you being naked that no one cares about?" Anthony Weiner didn't care that he had photos of him leaked, he cared that he was busted for sexting several women. The sex scandal is the leverage. What's the leverage here?

Also blackmail is super illegal and it's more likely it blows back in your face than his.
