if you were fighting the shadows in P4G you were doing it wrong anyways.

the only enemies worth fighting:

Pffft.

I hope that this investment into one PS4 game leads to many using the same engine like what happened on PS2. This should set them up for the whole generation and if we get a console RPG a year then skipping PS3 was more than worth it.

I think it would be really, really cool to see the MC be locked up in the velvet prison for breaking some sort of velvet law. At first they are against you but realize you can use persona or something. That would be neat.

lol wat. We haven't even seen a P5 scene with strong lighting like that yet. It's a bit hasty to judge P5's engine based on a few seconds of footage.

Also, technical quibbles aside, from an artistic perspective they've really nailed it with P5.

I think the gap is big enough to definitively say Catherine has better lighting, but I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree!

so you want the anime equivalent of the western cop media

"DAMMIT DETECTIVE, YOU'RE OFF THE WALL! BUT DAMN DO YOU GET RESULTS!!!"

I think because of the internally developed engine that was developed for Persona 5, the likelihood of other Megaten, console games using it is very high. I'm sure Atlus knows the value in diversifying their IP, and they won't just ditch the others for Persona.

Oh I don't doubt the diversification of their line up. We've gotten plenty of great titles in various series the past 5 years, many of which I've enjoyed.

It's just a question of handheld vs console, and while I believe your musings of their engine are spot on, I just like to keep my expectations in check. Especially with the state of Japan's market right now.

I hope you're right!

Speaking of shared engines, did P3 and P4 use SMT Nocturne's engine? I always felt like Nocturne looked a bit crisper, with better effects, but perhaps that was just the art style.

Looks terrific. Loving the aesthetic and the idea of heists as some of the justification for the missions in a Persona game.

Persona 6 will probably use the same engine.
Now that they're done developing the engine, getting more Persona games out on it will be quicker.

Yeah, Atlus' pattern with Persona games for most of the series seems to be releasing two games on the same engine in rapid succession and then waiting another six years or so to release anything else, so Persona 6 in 2017 is a very real possibility. Hopefully we won't have to wait until 2024 for Persona 7.
