JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders |OT| ATTEMPT NO MANGA SPOILERS HERE

I feel Stardust Crusaders tells you just enough about Part 1 that you don't necessarily need to have seen it already.

Also, assuming Viz wants JoJo on Toonami, dubbing Part 3 first is the best move because let's be honest here, Part 1 has almost zero action for like 3 episodes.

Yeah but then they make it to part 2 and the hype will be real.

But episode 3 is AMAZING.

Really I don't care since nearly every part brings the hype in some ways even the weaker part 1.

Part one is very easy to get into after the first ep. After seeing Dio burn the dog you know shit's just going to go down Eventually. Toonami's target audience can't follow a plot? I mean they put up with Naruto for all those years. They can't stick it out for a better show?

"Update: Viz confirmed that the agreement covers the merchandise based on the anime, not the anime itself."

Welp, back to waiting to see who'll license the damn thing.

The fact they made that logo, shows they are going for it. I bet you we will see the announcement soon at whatever the next big anime con for annoucements is.

I need that English dub! I really did enjoy those 3 episodes English dubbed when crunchyroll streamed it. I will buy the series to support it! I've already got all of the Stardust Crusaders manga and I'm eagerly waiting for the physical Phantom Blood Manga release.

I'm hoping/imagining they probably teamed with Funimation or another company for the dub. At the very least, they could work on dubbing the first half of Part 3 since it's already done, then that way, once they finish, the 2nd half will probably be done or close to it.

Anime is totally coming out in America

Logo's a bit lacking, but if it means we can get non expensive JoJo import figures then I'm all for it.

I just started watching this series, starting from the beginning of the reboot.

I loved the first season with Jonathan and Dio. It felt fresh yet classic at the same time, with a perfect pinch of horror on the side. The second season wasn't as good, but Joseph and Stroheim were awesome.

I'm about 10 episodes into Stardust Crusaders and what the hell happened? The show has devolved into cheesy one-liners, monster-of-the-week, and even dragged Dio back from a nicely concluded Season 1. The censorship is annoying too, but that's not the studio's fault. There's no nostalgia goggling here since I watched it all in the course of a week.

Does it get better from here? What happened that shifted the theme so much from season 1+2 to this?

Part 3 gets good on the 2nd half and then Part 4 is when shit gets really cool again and Stands become super cool.

Part 7 is the best though

Dat Stroheim Nazi engineering speech...too good. Part 3 has it's moments though. Kakyoin's a bro though.

Yeah I'm hoping it ditches the monster-of-the-week format after they dispose of all 7 dudes that were chasing them or whatever.

Part 3's most egregious crime was making Joseph pretty lame.

It never does throughout the entire JoJo series. And that's a good thing because it's the best way to get creative with the concept of stands.

I wouldnt want it any other way tbh. Normally I hate villain of the week stuff but for Jojo its different. These crazy, creative Stands and fights are what keeps me reading/watching.

He has his moments. Younger Joseph wasn't that sane so him turning into a crazy old guy makes sense.

1. It's not a reboot, it's an adaptation of all the manga chapters.
2. Wait, you really preferred Jonathan to Battle Tendency's awesome Pillar Men and crazy mofo Joseph?
3. It's Stand of the Week from here on out, so either get used to it or quit while you're ahead.

But still, I don't get what you mean by "shift in theme", apart from going to a single threat to monsters of the week. Jojo is still a crazy awesome battle series focusing more on creativity and manliness as it always was.

GWAAAANG

Some really good action in this ep.

Poor Anubis though, lol.

I love that part near the 'This is an Indian, who has nothing to do with this'

...and I'm starting to notice a pattern
we get one serious action packed encounter, then a comical encounter. My memory's a bit hazy on the order of enemies but I think after this is D'arby followed by Alessi/Alessy right?
EDIT: ...and why is Bast encounter a parter O_o They better not pad it out...

Bast is six chapters long, just like Anubis. That's about 1 episode and a half of content so I assume they're going to add more scenes like they did with Anubis.

It's not really the "stand of the week" format the problem in Stardust Crusader but more like the this concept was not completely mastered by Araki back there. The more you go further in the series, the more the stands and the fights go crazy (and they generally are way longer).

I finished Diamond is Unbreakable, Vento Aureo and almost Stone Ocean and I must say that it would be really sad if these three parts don't get a anime, there are so many chapters I would love to see in a anime version

Episode 29

Haha, this series has finally confused me regarding its tone shifts. There've always been lighthearted moments mixed with serious ones, but the conclusion to that fight was a total whiplash moment. It was a tense and cool fight until that point, though.

Polnareff smacking Iggy in the head just for contemplating a sunset? He's just asking for farts in his face at this point.

I think that was a visual gag implying Iggy's face is morphing into his more human looking appearance he takes later on.

What I really like about this episode is that felt like the first proper, real stand vs stand fight and not just whatever gimmick the protagonist has to figure out.

Stardust Crusaders (Egypt Arc) 29

Tense episode, but Jotaro solves it again by, er, punching really fast and hard. Disappointing ending to an otherwise fun fight, though I wasn't sold on "he gets faster every time", felt like a cheap gimmick.

Funny how it didn't occur to Polnareff that he basically murdered an innocent person last episode.

It's not so much that "he gets faster every time" but that he adapts and reacts faster because he already knows what they'll do.

Also pretty sure Polnareff did say that Chaka was just out cold so no murder there :v

Next episode is Bastet! Yesssss. I'm kinda worried though since I'm pretty sure that fight doesn't need to be two episodes. And what's with the episode title? It's called Bastet's Mariah when it should be Mariah's Bastet. Mariah is the user. They did that with Oingo Boingo too.

They seemed it imply he was literally getting faster, but I suppose I can go with that.

Something I really liked in this episode was seeing Jotaro sweat for once.

I think they mean Mariah of Bastet as in the god not the stand. Weird but w/e.

How do you adapt six chapters into a single episode though, spoilers
the "fight" against Bast is first an accumulation of gags and a fight second, it's similar to the Lovers fight in that respect (except I'd say it's funnier. Removing gags to make space for the fight is just missing the point of the fight, imo.

No, it adapts itself to the strenght and speed of Jotaro and Polnareff.

Oh was it that long? I forgot. In that case bring it. I've been waiting for this episode since the beginning.

Pretty much every defeated Stand user is just "out of commission" unless explicitly stated otherwise. Jojo's body count is surprisingly low.

Next episode is going to be fantastic. There's one scene in particular that I think somebody posted in the spoiler Jojo thread that I'm looking forward to. Going to be funny as hell.

EDIT: You know that makes me wonder which jojo has the highest body count.

Giorno definitely

Don't know what convinced me to look up the ending credits on youtube. Didn't even have to scroll to hit spoilers

Youtube Stardust Crusaders, music or otherwise, videos are pretty much a spoiler pool. By which I mean it's a bunch of bitter folks on a mission to ruin the fun.

I don't think anyone can say David Production lacks directorial talent after this episode.

That fucking transition from behind Jotaro to behind the Stand user, GAT DAMN. This was a fantastic episode.
