Persona 5 New Trailer

None of the stuff the P4 cast faces is even close in magnitude to what the P3 cast faces either, story-wise or personally, IMO.

What about when
Nanako dies
?

Deep end to them. P3 team have it way worse overall but is not like P4 was safe of traumatic events.

P5 coming out early in the PS4's life bodes really well. I'm guessing the reason why P5 features traditional SMT demons instead of shadows is because they intend to reuse those assets for future games like they did with SMT: Nocturne & the PS2. Whether those future games are P6, SMT5, or all-new spin-offs like DDS & Raidou were, who knows?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the cover based stealth will normally only function as a way to get a pre-emptive strike against enemies that are far more aware of your presence than persona 4(whose enemies were already harder to sneak up on than persona 3). There will probably be sections in which it actually matters beyond that, but I don't think it's gonna be a huge absolutely necessary thing for the most part.

That makes sense, actually. I would be totally ok with that.

So the Gamexplain video has been removed do to copyright claim by atlustube? Weird. And wow there's so much that's been talked about since I went to bed it seems. We already had tons of speculation and interesting findings, like the cat in the bag, the 4th person during the intro, etc. and I'm sure it'll just keep on growing.

Wow this trailer is just too good man. I keep watching it over and over. The red color scheme which I thought would be too jarring and loud blends in perfectly with the way the game presents it.

Best trailer I've seen in such a long time.

At first I figured that the building plans they are looking at here was the dungeon we see the MC in here but actually comparing the two from what we've seen I'm not so sure anymore. Both look to be big palatial homes or venues, but that big hall with the chandeliers doesn't exactly fit the floor plans we see. It's somewhat circular with the double staircase but not like any of the circular areas on the floor plan.

Either way the idea of planning ahead and scoping out dungeons for heist or something of the like really excites me, as well as the fact that we'll be getting actually crafted and realistic looking dungeons as opposed to the procedural crap from P3/P4.

I know man, I 've been listening to the trailer song all day and all the characters are so stylish.

The stakes in P3 were unavoidable, permanent, and had a lasting effect on the cast. Not counting P3P since it's not-canon. =P

Also to everyone complaining about Mitsuru's AI and her not healing you when you desperately needed it - Mitsuru isn't supposed to be a healer. She's the offensive mage of the party & just has a couple healing spells on the side. If you want an actual healer, you should be using Yukari, Ken, or the MC.

I really, really hope so. A crop of SMT games comparable to their PS2 output would be a dream come true.

That's what I'm hoping for too (SMT5 specificaly), but I don't have high hopes. I guess they'll do some more Persona spin off.

Team Maniax has been working on a project for a while now. Since Persona 5 is using an internally developed engine made specifically for it, I wonder if their game could also be using it, as well as sharing the new assets made for the demons/Personas.

Either way, it's not like that engine they made will be used for Persona 5 and only for Persona 5, especially since we're talking about Atlus. That's a good sign, maybe even for more home console RPGs developed by Atlus in the near future.

Am I the only one who like demon negotiations? I played Nocturne and SMT4 and I've never really had a problem with it. 90% of the time I got the demon I wanted just by giving them what they wanted, and the 10% of the time I didn't I just chalked that up as being part of the risk/reward of trying to get a demon this way. Also you get most of your demons from fusions so it's not like you spend all that much time negotiating anyways. Plus I liked how it gave you a peak into the demons personalities.

I'm not saying I want it back for P5, I'd prefer if they came up with a new system, but if they were going to bring back a system from past games I'd rather it be negotiating. The card shuffling was boring and don't even get me started on the demon auctions.

I have no interest in anime but this game looks very stylish. I've also never played a Persona game but have heard they're good.

Is this an RPG? I'm trying to find more reasons to buy a PS4 so I can play Bloodborne. I'm not usually interested these sort of (for lack of a better term) 'very Japanese' anime games but I might take the plunge and try something new.

Yeah, it is in this thread somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

Edit:

Dat physics defying Jojo posing.

You have no idea how badly I want that to be the case!!

It's definitely an RPG. And before you ask, no there's no continuity in the storylines of persona games beyond cameos.

Assuming it plays like the previous games, it's a turn-based RPG with a heavy story component.

Well, it ran with the themes of each game. P4 was much more bright a game than P3 ever was.

True. Scooby was always fun and P4 being the Scobby Gang should make it fun, lol

It's just The Answer (and P3 in general) gets knocked on for some of this stuff when it makes total sense.

She revives, I know. But after they seriously discussed in killing Namatame

They didn't expect that
Nanako would revive in the end
Just saying that was not as easy for the P4 team

That situation is never easy for anyone but the discussion was about The Answer which is far after such an event so the permanence is really important in it. Plus it happens twice to the P3 cast. :_;

Yup, it's an RPG. Previous entries in the series had turn based combat, and I'm very certain P5 will also be turn based.

No need for them to reach PS2-level of output (that was like, 7.8 games lol), bud i'd gladly take a P6 and a SMTV/NewIP on the same console very gladly.

it was interesting as well, because P4 started off far darker than P3.

I really liked how in 4 though you got to watch the characters grow past the early game pains.
also doing yosuke's social link showed he wasnt handling Saki's death quite as well as he was letting on.

3 was the reverse, starts out pretty simple, and just gets darker as it goes

I don't have a problem with the negotiations, but if it does come back I'd want it to be a mix of negotiating and the mini game in P4. For example: You can try to negotiate with them during battle or you can just kill them and get the mini game instead, and you would get more exp. if you successfully convince them.

Is there an action RPG spinoff that I Dont know about? Because an Ys style game in smt world would be sweeeeet

P3 starts up dark and only gets darker, especially if you're playing the game the first time lol

You mean three times,
I will miss Ikutski's bad jokes.

10 bucks we'll get our Persona Musou game.
But no, SMT have only been Turn based or Tactical rpgs.
An action one would be nice.
Although we still don't know how P5 actually plays.

edit: totally forgot about the Raidou

it has a dark atmosphere, but nothing with the characters and situation is particularly dark, as opposed to the early events of P4

The progression of P3 is much darker than the opening of P4

Need some help here. Anyone got a high-quality still image of the P5MC doing the skating thing on the highroad in the jojo-isitc pose? Thanks.
