You can't get a 21:9 FOV picture on a 16:9 screen without black bars.
How? Doesn't that crop the picture?

If it is someone big it's really cool that the marketing isn't revolving around them and that they were cast just because they fit the role well.
Agreed
280/1080 = ~26%.
Nowhere near 'almost half the screen'.
Or they have a lower bar on what constitutes as major talent. I mean, some people consider certain (popular as they are) YouTube celebrities to be stars.
Lol. I immediately thought "jim sterling"!![]()
Jim would be beyond my wildest expectations.Lol. I immediately thought "jim sterling"!![]()

Buy a 21:9 TV if you don't want to have black bars in The Order.
At first, I thought you meant Mr. Bean. Then I realized you meant Ned Stark.Just got out of Jupiter Ascending and Sean Bean was in it. Didn't know that going in and he seems like he'd be a perfect fit for this game. Seems the right level of known as well to not be a major marketing focus and willing to do a game but still be a pleasent surprise.

If he was in it, his character would probably die horribly.
The image being sent by the PS4 is still 1080p(16x9). It's just that 280 lines of that are black pixels... This has been explained many times.
I'm half expecting Timothy Dalton to voice the main villain. It just seems ... appropriate ...somehow. I don't know how to explain but in my head it fits perfectly. I just wish Sir Sean Connery wasn't out of the business. Could you imagine him voicing Percival? Game of the forever.
Yeah I'm sure he is not the one being teased. Must be someone bigger. Could be a debut as well
Might seem strangely obvious what with him being in Penny Dreadful but, that would be awesome sauce right there.
Ive been gettingvibes off Sir GallahadClive Owen
Add to that: Patrick Stewart and John Hurt.Timothy Dalton, Clive Owen, Eva Green, Charles Dance, Bob Peck, Lena Headey, Ian Holm, Ian McKellan and Brian Blessed.
C'Mon ... Give it to me in my veins ... NAOW!!!!!!
Does anyone know when the review embargo is for this game?
I don't think we have any information about review embargo. At this rate, I guess it will be lifted on release day.Does anyone know when the review embargo is for this game?
Well, you can call me old-fashioned but I really don't understand why RaD developers have to go around the world to advertise their game. Why don't they just send them preview build of this game and have some interviews via online? Or is it a way to appeal the audience in those countries?I don't think even the press knows, given that none of them have received a review copy.
What we know :
- Sony and several RAD folk have been travelling for a press tour of the game
- What's been shown at the press tour stuff is supposed to have the embargo lift on the 10th of Feb (not review event)
- RAD/Sony has an event at East London on the 12th Feb to showcase the game ( since there's a gameplay demo being shown on a cinema screen and it's after the 10th embargo... potentially new?)
We'll probably get an idea of when the game's review embargo details will be after the event.

Not a fan of the aspect ratio either. Personally, I think it's beyond stupid and shouldn't exist in any video game. It's a video game that's being played, not a movie that's being watched. Just hoping that unlike so much other crap in gaming, this doesn't become a trend.
With that said, im assuming that the aspect ratio of The Order is the same as The Evil Within which means that I'll be doing what I did with The Evil Within - lower the PS4 resolution to 480p which eliminates the black bars to the size of a millimeter on the top and bottom. Granted, it won't look as good but it will still look good enough and I personally rather have the majority of my HDTV screen.
True story.
Pretty sure all 21:9 TVs will have a mode to expand the picture to crop out the black bars though.
<edit> of course, having a 21:9 TV means watching letterbox blu rays and The Order will be sized to fit the screen - but all the standard 1080p 16:9 games will have black borders down the side instead.
Cropping and zooming will destroy image quality.

No it won't. That's the sort of thing that gets repeated often but simply isn't true.
I have a high end 65" 4k TV so everything except 4k stuff off Amazon Video gets 'zoomed' on my TV.
Everything (including the PS4 output) looks fantastic on it.
I'm pretty sure any scaling on a 21:9 TV will be high in quality as pretty much all 21:9 TVs at the moment are high end models as far as I'm aware.

Of all games, you're going to play this at 480p when you don't have to? I can't...my god...Not a fan of the aspect ratio either.
