also personally love the pattern that it's usually black musician/rappers who get slapped with the "no brain cells" label. I mean not only is it presumptuous to assert that kanye is less aware of his image than other artists, it's not like intelligence is a marker of musical talent. so many fantastic musicians are just...dumb
 
I love Kanye. Yes, sometimes he doesn't find the right wording to his train of thoughts and contradicts himself, but, man, is it still entertaining as hell to watch his every next move in the industry.
He has always been genuinely loving making music and being creative, open to pushing boundaries sonically and style-wise. You never know what his next album will sound like. CD and LR are two of my most favorite albums.

Btw, just saw that Kanye once dedicated his won AMA awards to Lil Wayne in '08 on air.

Anyway, I think sonically, Ye is overrated by his stans. But I think it's fair to say he's raised himself above the level of guys like Dre and DJ Premier, who to me, rarely, if ever, leave their musical comfort zones and suffer for it.
I dont think the dude is a some sort of unrivalled rap god at flipping a sample though, and his soul samples being more radio and commercial friendly than the shit than RZA and Pete Rock flipped doesnt make him superior.

I don't see anything in the Grammy Foundation's mission statement that fits your bill as to why Beyonce should have won the Grammy for album of the year over Beck.
