They are not going to cast Andrew Garfield's less attractive twin in a reboot designed to expunge all memory of him and his Spiderman movies from audiences collective memories. Shit would just confuse people.

Could you have picked a worse picture of him? :(
Jesus. That pic just screams "Addict!"

I'd like to throw Mr. Jonathan Groff's name into consideration, although I think he's slightly too old for what they're going for now.

I would love for them to throw us all sorts of red herrings until Civil War is actually completed and released so that they can unveil the actor in a post-credits stinger.

While my personal preference is an older Peter Parker who is still getting fucked over by life but is still snarkily fighting the good fight, if they go with a young Peter, it's gotta be Dylan O'Brien. He's perfect.

I'd totes nominate Adam Scott for an older Spider-Man. If Paul Rudd can turn into a semi-serious criminal superhero, Scott can play a perpetually down on his luck nerdy superhero.

Probably would be pretty cheap too if he was game for it.

But honestly, I'd love if they just rebooted it and kept Garfield and Stone. Such phenomenal chemistry. And Garfield is a great Parker, just had a shit direction and writer.

I think he would have to be older to play the role needed in civil war. Needs to have the family and experience in order to make the choice hard. As I wasn't a huge fan of civil war I am not overly concerned. I may have missed previous thread posts about casting, I wonder if Sony or Marvel gets the final say on casting.

It would be very cool if Dylan O'Brien were the next Spider-Man, but it will probably be another actor.

Yeah I'm preparing myself for massive disappointment. I'm so set on the idea of Dylan being Spidey but it probably won't happen. He's pretty busy with both Teen Wolf and The Maze Runner series.

It would be soooo good though

I think he's got makeup on from the play he was doing because he didn't look like that last I saw unless he's been on drugs lately.

yeah I feel for the guy. But you know what they say, out with the old, in with the nucleus

I dont understand what is the big deal in retaining him. Why was that a problem? All this continuity nonsense wont hold because I am willing to bet apart from hardcore fans the general public already forgot almost everything that tie's all these various universes supposedly together and just go to see the movies because they are fun and have all super heroes coming together with crazy action sequences. So pissed of about Garfield being dropped.

Anyways I am sure he will move on to better things in the future. Hope the new guy who comes in at least gets a decent director and script writer and not get screwed over for no fault of his.

This. He may not be the greatest Parker but he is a damn good Spiderman. Absolutely nailed his character in AS2.

how they gonna explain spiderman not showing up in the new york invasion if he's older spiderman

I'm fine with an older Parker. Don't expect him to be too old, but at least be spiderman before the movie starts. Maybe he became active after the new york invasion.

I don't really want to see uncle ben recast for another 10 minutes.

Seeing Garfield's twitter pic makes me so sad. Guy was a damn good spiderman that got fked over by a poor director and a poor script

dude pushed for his own firing. damn

Damn. The amazing Spider Man movies sucked but I really liked Garfield as Peter Parker.

Next best option is obviously Nicolas Cage:

It bums me out too but it's likely more a consequence of the studios wanting to start completely fresh. Garfield is great but there are other great actors out there that can take the role.

I'd love it if they kept Stone and Garfield and had Emma recast as MJ with red hair. Imagine the mind fuck that'd be for the general audience.

If they are rebooting Spider man they need to get someone that is at least a teenager.

Yeah, I feel like some of you are thinking way too old. A Spider-Man that hasn't even been mentioned this far in to the MCU will probably be just starting out. Granted, he's usually been seen as B-tier within the context of the universe but still. Dude is usually plastered all over newspapers being smeared. People have heard of him. An adult man Spider-Man will have been active and sure as hell well known for a long time. He needs to be a kid.

Dylan could be good. He did that teen movie with Victoria Justice and the Brit Robertson that was just hot and he felt Peter Parker-ish to me.

A guy that would have made a great Eddie Brock back in he day is Craig Sheffer.

This posted here yet? From Variety

A number of actors already have been mentioned as being considered for the role, including “The Maze Runner” and “Teen Wolf’s” Dylan O’Brien and the “Percy Jackson” franchise’s Logan Lerman. Lerman most recently co-starred in Sony’s “Fury.”

Actors have yet to be approached, and sources say Sony is looking to hire a new director to replace “The Amazing Spider-Man” films’ Marc Webb before tapping a new Spidey. The studio also needs to figure out whether it wants to go with another Peter Parker or introduce another character that suits up as Spider-Man, including Miles Morales, whose father is African American and mother is Puerto Rican

But the press release specifically mentions Peter Parker

exactly. It's Peter Parker. You see how america acted with a black annie you really trying to make the middle states cause an uproar with a black peter parker.

if he wasn't cast in fantastic four this would honestly be the ONLY choice for a high school grad/early college spiderman right now imo.

too bad about f4.

No.

Teller has the douchiest, most punchable face ever. Perfect for Reed Richards, but Parker is a loveable dork <3
