How many times has Spiderman been rebooted now?

Its fucking insane, and kinda sad.

Hopefully the crazy number of reboots in such a short time period means that the next Spiderman movie can skip the whole origin bit and get right into the thick of things.

Once. It's been rebooted literally once.

Hulk wasn't rebooted two times, only once. He was recasted for the Avengers, but the Edward Norton film is part of the same cannon.
Changing subject slightly, but if you take the Ed Norton Hulk film away, then the Avengers movie still works perfectly. I know this because I never saw the Ed Norton film and didn't feel like I missed out on anything in the Avengers.

We all know the Hulk story, and if we didn't then we quickly find out everything we need to know in the Avengers between the scene in India and Tony Stark's "giant green rage monster" line. I expect they'll do something similar with Spider-Man. They don't need another reboot.

I thought Marvel wants Spider-man to have been Spider-man for a while now. I mean if that's the case, wouldn't this new spider-man either be in college or out of it now?
Think of how Spectacular Spider-Man started (Peter has been Spidey for a while, but is still in high school) That's what Marvel's going for.

Is that the show? I actually never watched that. Only EMH.
Yes, & you should totally watch it.
They were gonna use the VAs from Spectacular in the Spidey episodes of EMH before Loeb made a last-minute switch to the Ultimate Spider-Man voices.

I can picture the line in Civil War of Stark asking him how he got his powers and finding the idea of a radioactive spider absurd and mocking the whole spider thing. Can't wait.

I get those two dudes confused all the damn time, lol.

Also, Grant Gustin for Spidey, give him all the "awkward young superhero coming into his own roles". He's even got the alliterative name!

heh

I am not sure about "cast".

They probably have a very solid list though.
Which likely how variety heard these two names.

lol at people 'being eyed'. This deal has been in the works for a while and its 99% sure they already have Spidey cast.
If they had it locked down they would have announced it. Things were still up in the air as late as November and the emails made it clear nothing would be final till the summit in January.

I'm going with Lerman

I don't mind both choices but I would love Zac Efron more than both of them. He gets name dropped a lot for spiderman but I don't think he's ever actually being pursued lol

The deal is extremely new. According to the emails, talks between Sony and Marvel were dead as of November. I wouldn't be surprised if that whole incident actually lit a fire under someone's ass at Sony and got the deal going again.

Peter has been fucking supermodels for almost his entire life.

lol to the max at people saying he's unattractive or average
That's the point. He's the nerd that in real life, no attractive women would even consider fucking, yet his ugly mug always manages to get the hotties. An inspiration to all the lonely men out there who've only dated ol' Lefty.
And yes, of course it's fantasy. He also dresses up like a sider and sticks to walls.

I know some people want this to be true but...

But Peter isn't ugly. In fact he's fairly attractive. Don't know where you're getting this from nerd isn't synonymous with ugly.

This is Spider-Man folks
I still stand by my point, he was a great Peter Parker but an okay-at-best Spider-Man. But as the others have said, he's not an option seeing as he's too old for the role.

As for the two candidates for the new Spidey, Logan is probably the better actor of the two (judging by Fury), but Dylan has the charisma & humor needed for the role.

I've always felt that it's much more important for an actor to nail the feel of Peter Parker than Spider-man. The latter relies so heavily on CG and the actor's face is usually obscured. Tobey had his share of shortcomings in the costume but a lot of that was more a problem of scripting. The Spider-man 2 train fight is still the best spidey fight we've seen between 5 movies despite Tobey not being perfect under the mask.

I'm perfectly fine with a teenage Spider-Man, I'd even say that's my preferred route to take. Spider-Man is a huge influential character in the Marvel universe for me, and whilst adult Peter is pretty awesome, him being one of the youngest heroes in a world of adults always made him stand out more for me, and the threats he faces seemed much more intense to me when you gathered the fact that it was a teenager fighting to protect a city of millions, often on his own. Even without the origin story (which you don't need), it would be much better to have the character grow throughout the MCU, for both storytelling and character-development purposes.

Dylan O'Brien all the way for Peter Parker btw. I like Logan Lernman as an actor, but he's outgrown it a bit, and based on O'Brien's work from Teen Wolf and The Maze Runner I can easily see him nailing both the Peter Parker and Spider-Man aspects of the role.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

This x10000

But people will keep saying Maguire.

Andrew Garfield was a perfect Spider-man, and Emma Stone was a great Gwen Stacy.

The supporting cast, script, and a hamfisted Jamie Foxx ruined Spider Man 2, among other things.

Just don't give us a young, inexperienced Spidey. We need a seasoned veteran, one who understands and can approach the situation better than either of these forsaken teenage actors.

Ugh.

Well Marvel needs good young heroes, so....yeah.

Here's the thing - a young Spidey just doesn't help Marvel create its spin on the character. We've gotten two origin stories, one great middle act, and two very overcooked, bloated films featuring younger takes on Spiderman.

Spidey needs to be a little older than these two, even if not by much.

What about a younger Spider-Man that nonetheless skips the origin story?

Or even a little bit younger.

I do not want to see another middle aged (or near) superhero with the Avengers at this point. A young Spider-Man will offer something different in the grand scheme of the MCU.

Well that's not what we're getting. This Spider-Man won't be an origin, & it won't be of an older Spider-Man.

They clearly want someone much younger than the Avengers as contrast to them. Based on who they are talking to + the emails its a young high-school aged spidey, case is pretty closed it looks like.
