Need 1 more player for the league.
LiveFromKyoto said:Hey, that's on America, that's no excuse. The Japanese owners let their guys go, and all their players had enough pride to show up.

you had Jeter playing Shortstop and Adam Dunn in RF. I repeat you had Jimmy Rollins at DH, Derek Jeter at SS and Adam Dunn in RF/1B.
vas_a_morir said:Yeah. True enough. There needs to be better incentives. Oh well. 2012 here we come.
Do I sense some non-Japanese bandwagoners in this thread? Some of you guys seem a little too happy for Team Japan. Just because you live there doesn't make it okay to turn on the home team! That's like a Yankees fan becoming a Red Sox fan just because he moved to Boston. You see, me? I'm what is known as a "hater." I don't like to see others have joy and success, and thus, I "hate" on them to make me feel better. Some of you guys are "bandwagoners," who see those having joy and success, and say "I will pretend like I'm them because it makes me seem like a winner. Even though, deep down, I know I'm a complete fraud."
Still, I have hope for the future. The talent level was far better this year than last time. I can only hope it gets better next time. Also, do you guys NOW see why I'm glad Adam Dunn is gone? He'll break your heart 10 times for every time he does something good.
Stopped reading after that. Every team has bandwagoners. Your percentage is hilariously wrong though.DevelopmentArrested said:Puhlease. 90% of Red Sox and Yankees fans are bandwagoners...

JP Ricciardi was right. Dunn has no heart.
El Papa said:I was watching the last two innings in Little Tokyo L.A. Everyone at the bar I'm at went crazy when Darvish struck out the last batter. Congratualtions to Japan, they deserved it. I was at the Japan v US game yesterday, and even though Jeter through the game away, Japan was the better team.
Now l'm just waiting for the flood of Japanese from Dodger Stadium to infiltrate the bar I'm at. Should be fun.
wait...I hope you aren't saying that Jeter and Dunn are our best players...DevelopmentArrested said:umad.gif

juicyfruitas said:WTF? Yu Darvish looks like he was designed by Square-Enix
mlb.com said:Darvish became the winner, because Ichiro just wouldn't give in during his climatic at-bat. There was apparently some confusion between the Korean bench, catcher Min-ho Kang and Lim, who was told to pitch carefully to Ichiro before giving up the single, but apparently missed the sign. Kang, 23 years old, had just come into the game an inning earlier.
"They did not convey signals well," Korean manager In-Sik Kim said. "The catcher understood the signs, but the pitcher didn't understand it very well. It was not to try to walk him, but to throw him a ball. If it did not work, then we would walk him. That was the strategy. So the pitcher and catcher did not communicate well. That hurt us in the end."
Mirimar said:Man...it's slowly sinking in that we won't see this again until 2013.

I actually believe the Korean manager on this. The situation was basically "pitch to him, but don't give him a strike, you walk - so be it." But apparently there was something lost in communication and the pitcher actually -pitched- to him. Sad.

I didn't care if USA or Japan won, as long as one of the two didn't let Korea win.

I was vowing for either the U.S. or Japan myself, but for some reason I didn't want Korea to win. And I say that with this insatiable urge to visit Seoul sometime soon because I love that city.

I still hold by my opinion that Koreans are the most graceless winners out there (Roy Jones, Mighty Mo never forget)

When they win they do love to gloat about it. Nothing is wrong with some pride in your country. But you know it can be a little over the top sometimes..
However when Japan loses they just go into pity mode... I would have loved to see them lose just to see how they would spin it. If it were to a western country they would just blame it on the fact that westerns are "strong"...
