New Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae screenshots

This thread is one reason why we cant have nice things like pre release demos anymore and early development screenshots and in progress footage. What an embarrassment.
The opinions shared in this thread reflect a good amount of how actual gamers(not just FF fans) think in general, which is also why we can't have good things. Everybody's too worked up on graphics, graphics, graphics. No wonder game studios feel obligated to pushing graphics to the limit, making the most realistically detailed grains of sand as possible, and blowing their budget in the process(resulting in a sink or swim scenario and lots and LOTS of safe projects that ONLY appeal to the pop demographic). Fuck humanity. Our alien overlords should've taken over our asses decades ago! Praise be to Zemus! I obey thy DARKNESS! .... *don't hurt me, dark one*

This is a game in a modern setting, with cars and mechanics and whatnot. Why would there be random medieval style chests laying around in fields?

I'd honestly be really disappointed if the game went that route.
Ugh, the game's a mix of settings. There ARE some medieval inspired areas(Niflheim is said to be in a state of Medievalism, but with high technology) in this game. Some nations are more progressive than others, and that's said to be one of the reasons of the conflict. The nations with the crystals are modernized, but frown upon war technology(guns are said to be illegal, which is why most of those of Lucis are wielding bladed weapons, while Prompto is said to be a "rebel" against this law). Niflheim, however, instead of focusing on modernizing themselves, chose to focus on excelling their military might through technology, making them one of the strongest nations in the world(which is evident of them being able to conquer many other "modern" nations), despite still keeping many medieval-traits to their society(one of the recent shows the battle with the robots that raise war banners when encountering you). I'll say it again, I think people lump FF into a generalization of two settings, the medieval or modern/futuristic setting, when a LOT of FFs(espeically FFVII and on) kinda establish themselves as being unique by pulls concepts from a LOT of different settings and genres. That one of the strong points of, not only this series, but JRPGs in general.

Is it really excessive though? Two pieces of string?

It's not a Nintendo game aimed at young children, nor has any mainline Final Fantasy been aimed at a young market.

In less than 15 seconds you can find the weirdest, most fucked up, explicit porn in existence thanks to the Internet, I hardly think a bit of skin, a glance of boob and partly visible underwear will be getting anyones heart racing.

Beside the fact there are several almost naked characters throughout the Final Fantasy series, this is very tame and nothing new.

Was it necessary? I don't think I have the right to debate that because I'd rather leave a creative mind to create what they envision, not moan about what they have created or how they should follow some set rule book of how to attempt to please everyone.

I don't know how game developers who read forums and fan sites aren't on suicide watch with the things people complain about, it's literally never ending.

Opinions obviously differ, but I think a creative project should be allowed to be created without restrictions and to the original vision, not designed by committee.

Especially in a fantasy genre, and especially in a medium such as games where 99% of what you do, is something you cannot do in life for various reasons.
They can create their vision. They are not free from criticism about it. The design sucks. Modern female fashion is so wide and varied, and they came up with that garbage. Don't complain about how the complainers are complaining; try to consider what is objectionable about that design, and then consider whether or not the objections have merit. I think they do.

Also, Final Fantasy actually traditionally targets the middle school/high school demographic (from the words of Yoshinori Kitase). For Versus they bent towards an older age, but with the switch to mainline title the demographic target has probably gone down again. What is obvious from the design then is that its sole purpose is to titillate hormonal boys in puberty. It's indecent not because of her manner of dress, but rather that this is what a female character is created for. "Pretty tame and nothing new" are mere excuses for poor designs.

It looks a little rough, but whatever AA solution they're using seems to be working better for them than Bloodborne at least. Good for them. I hope they can polish it a little more though, it's still looking a bit bleh compared to the trailer with Leviathan in it. I know that was a target render but they should be working to get just a little bit closer to that.

I think you're misremembering how the E3 2013 trailer really was. That was clearly using PS3 assets and it looked pretty bad compared to what we have now.

It's not just today, it's GAF in general. "Downgrade" talk is the norm, it's fairly disgusting. In the last month I think I've seen downgrade threads about Uncharted, The Witcher 3, Bloodborne, The Order, Persona 5, Rise of the Tomb Raider, MGS5 and now FFXV. It's only getting worse.

Yep I've noticed that too. It's getting really tiring and derails so many threads.

That being said I'm withholding any judgement about FFXV until I've played it. I don't trust SE and I'm not the biggest fan of the way they seem to be trying to turn everything into action RPGs. I think the character models are great though. Everyone is so pretty :p

Yep. On one hand it's easy to blame the studios for this happening with "AAA" projects, on the other it's easy to see how they're being spooked into going that route. I like for games to look good, but I think there's some ridiculous obsession and expectation out there.

Interesting. Your response headed down a very different route than I thought it would.

I think I've found the root of the issue. Clearly, you dislike me. This is why your emotions override your logical train of thought, and you're unable to gather a clear picture since your mind has become muddied. In essence, we've hit a tipping point in the equilibrium since you expose yourself to be no less mindless than these imaginary followers who seem to have upset you. This would mean I misread you, and your previous post wasn't you engaging me in jest, but was you seething under the surface and only holding back because you didn't know how else to respond.

Poor show. You have much growing up to do. Like Justin Bieber.

Edit:

.

Fixed your error. You disappoint me.

Nice performance.

It's pronounced Duhsky. :p

That's right.

Funny enough, we were talking about what we think the threads will look like in the office earlier this week. Really looking forward to seeing what everyone thinks about both Type-0 HD and the Final Fantasy XV Demo. :)

God I need this game. I'm fortunate enough to get the 17th and 18th off work because I still have extra Christmas leave that I didn't use up. I just hope my Type-0 HD collectors edition arrives on the 17th!

Maybe I am? I won't lie, the character models look damn good. The hair in particular bothers me though.

It's all about the waku waku and doki doki. XD

Witcher 3 complaints? The game looks phenomenal. Is such a complaint even possible?

The game is looking really great. I have confidence that the most glaring of the graphical shortcomings will be fixed before release- goodness knows they aren't near completion. Unfinished towns, magic not fully implemented, it should be clear to anyone that this isn't representative of the final build. It may not get leaps and bounds better, but it doesn't need to. It's already lovely!

Can't wait to tangle with that Behemoth and presumably claim the sword in his back for myself. And summoning will finally be revealed! My favorite aspect of any Final Fantasy's combat, you just know it's going to be STUNNING in next gen.

Hmm, I never considered that the sword in the Behemoth's back could be an obtainable item. I had taken it as confirmation that the embedded sword mechanic from E3 2013 was confirmed in the game.

Why do these screenshots look like they've been smeared with vaseline and sand? This game needs a little bit of PC sprinkled on it, because good lord is this game's assets being hurt by consoles.

Oh that's very possibly the case! My assumption comes from Tabata saying that weapon collecting is a huge part of XV and that you get them in various ways. Final Fantasy has done the legendary weapon embedded in a powerful monster before, after all. But if weapon embedding is still in, that would be even better! I wonder if Noctis still casts magic through his weapons? Seems like they ditched it, but it could make for interesting gameplay.
