Screamride (360/XB1) demo out today

I'm so torn about this game. I love the creativity and destructible aspects of it, but the concept itself plays upon one of my greatest fears: rollercoaster/amusement park malfunctions resulting in fatal injury. I couldn't even get through the trailer without feeling terrible for the little virtual people on the rides.

Is there a way to download the demo to my console from a web browser so its ready when i get home like I can do on PS4? I am a new Xbone owner. Still need to learn the inns/outs

normally you can, but I am not sure its possible to get demos from the web store for the xbox one, unless someone can educate us both!

Yes, you can "buy" free demos from the web store. Like Fifa 15 for example. Or like E92 said, just use the SmartGlass app.

if i remember correctly ken lobb said its using a toned down version of the crackdown destruction and because the scale is small enough they simply used a few cpu cores to do the computing locally. the destruction in crackdown will be much bigger.

Really? U got a link to him saying that?

The Crackdown engine and the one Screamride is using remain two completely different things. Don't get me wrong, I really like what they did with Screamride especially since it runs locally, but with Crackdown we have very different goals, requirements and also possibilities. However - and I'm repeating myself here - I still think the destruction in Screamride is very well done already and if performed right pretty satisfying.

I hate how the Game Demo Central app doesn't show all of the demos available and the list of demos on it hasn't been updated since the app came out. Is there a better way to look at all of the demos?

I think the old "xbox bing ... demo" trick still works. I keep forgetting about the bing command, but it can be convenient.

It's not technically "malfunctions" though, the crash is part of the ride, and the people in it are safely equipped for it, as can be seen after missions in the recent footage :

It wasn't very clear in the reveal trailer though, which gave the game an air of unsettling/dark humour, especially with the masked and thus emotionless organizers :)

that's what I thought, thanks for clearing that up.

I used to love me some roller coaster tycoon, but I wonder how long I would play this. Probably wouldn't have bought this without a demo, so it's good this game released one. Went from a 25% chance to 50%.

Remember when a demo would sell u on a game? I remember playin the Red Faction Guerilla demo and the Arkham Asylum demo. I was skeptical of both, but replayed their demos so often it reminded me of the demo disk days, when as a broke kid you'd wear the hell out of a disk. Now games rarely launch with demos, I think we need more IMO

Not impressed at all. The framerate stinks. Tried destruction mode and thats some janky shit. Got 4 stars. The mode where ride the coaster is quite fun but even then the payoff is bad framerate. Not tried building yet. Time for bed I think

And just like that, all my interest is dead. If you can't get the framerate right, don't release the game. Hopefully the final fixes that, but you'd think they'd know that most people look at a demo and make a buying decision off of that.

I've only done the rider section so far, but haven't hit any framerate issues yet. Some weird sound glitches from time to time though.

Um the rider parts are super hard? I can't beat the required score after like 10 attempts. Wtf

Finally did it but Jesus like the first level is that hard?

Edit again. There's only one ride track?

I think it's just the learning curve. My best was 1.1 million - still short of the required, but I didn't go for two wheels much. It's incredibly hard to keep that thing on the rails when you're burning a full turbo though.

Tried the demo mode and it's impressive how fast that rebuilds when you screw up and start again. Rubble will still be falling down, bouncing off the building that's going up.

I guess it's safe to say I don't really get the build mechanics yet. Ran out of track, fixed it and did a test run, and threw four riders out...it was upside down for half the ride. There are a bunch of specialty pieces that I should have used, but didn't find until I was already done it.

Not a fan of this at all.

The frame rate isn't crap, it's pretty much a solid 30, but it doesn't look good enough to justify not being 60. Destruction is cool, but pretty much right there with what Red Faction Guerrilla was.

Main problem for me was the ridiculously tiny fonts. Seriously, what the hell? I'm using a 55" TV sitting not too far away and I could barely read them. And then they're even tinier in the mission results screens??

I played the demo, I had this game sort of on my radar since the reveal. Couple thoughts:

- Framerate. It's a game about speed, this should be a 60FPS game. Alas it is not and it hurts the game tremendously. I'm not a programmer but I always felt the tradoff for a lower framerate meant increased graphic quality. This game doesn't push the envelop in either.

-The demolition game is fun but again, this is an XBO game and it just feels like Red Faction Guerilla. There should be epic destruction happening but all it feels like is you're knocking over Lego sets.

-The coaster designer could have been the saving grace but I don't see myself putting much time into it after messing with the demo. It made me chuckle a few times seeing my riders tossed out from what I assumed was a pretty tame coaster so if the game is "play it safe" then what is the point?

-This game has 20 dollar impulse download written all over it, but 40 bucks for a retail disc AND digitally? No way. I can only assume nowadays that there are extensive DLC plans as well (new track pieces, new destruction layouts, new courses, etc), which makes it even less appealing.

This would be a good game to get with Games with Gold. I can't see myself buying it, but I would like to mess with the demolition in small spurts. Other than that I am kind of indifferent to it. It was neat to try, though.

I'll give it this - trying to get the commendations is tricky. I'm maxed out at 1.267 million points, not sure how to eke more out of it.
