Yet unlike many, still stands serving a reminder of Gintoki's failures. A ghost of a past he has not truly beaten. He lost recent battles but can you really say Gintoki won against him? He had gintoki kill his own teacher. Gintoki lost many friends in the war, no doubt some to this very man and his league. Despite Gintoki's efforts, the shogun died anyways. Despite beating him in combat, Oboro still stands and reminds Gintoki that despite all he accomplishes, he can only howl at the heavens because Gintoki may win battles, but loses what he was trying to protect. win the battle but lose the war.

in this regard I think of Oboro as Gintoki's greatest Nemesis.

When Gintoki finally defeats Oboro not only in combat, but win the war and overcoming his past, finally settling all the failures he has went through all this time, it will be his greatest victory imo.

or maybe im overthinking it.

I look forward to his increased involvement.

So the climax will be having Oboro realise that Gintoki can protect who he cares for.... makes sense

up 10 chapters. I like the action but i honestly cant give a shit about the story. the story and its pacing are weakspots in what could be a decent shounen.

Really digging the whole Uncle Shin ain't letting shit happen to Sei's kids and will rouse an entire army to do it (I thought he only had one daughter but I must have missed/forgotten the other). I think the chapter also served to highlight his growth as an instinctual leader and as a potential general, which I imagine he will be after he fells the rebellion.

Can't wait to see him totally wreck the shit out of that father and son duo. That being said, given this is a seinen and I am unfamiliar with the history, I suppose there is a possibility he'll fail to prevent the death of Sei's kids.

I just want to see a happy end. Gintoki is a loser in his past. He couldn't save his teacher. He couldn't save his fallen comrades. What good is it that he can beat Oboro, but lose everything doing so? And worse, Oboro lives on, reminding him that he is a loser. That not only could he not protect what mattered to him, he couldn't even avenge what he cared about. He hasn't won a single battle against his true enemy. He stays losing.

Being a loser was touched upon not too long ago. What can a loser count what he accomplished when said loser loses a war? He can only count the casualties who have fallen in vain, the failures, and the reality that what you fought for was all for nothing. A crushing reality.

Gintoki is a complete, total loser. Oboro and the heavens has won and taken so much from him. I just want to see Gintoki finally redeeming himself and win for once.

Will he finally be able to protect what he cares about this time? Or will Oboro once again remind him that he can't protect anything no matter how hard he tries as Oboro and the ones who command him take away everything Gintoki cares about?

I really like Oboro. He is a proper bastard of a villain. Unlike Takasugi who is a teenage butthurt buttmunch, Oboro is the legit final boss that Gintoki must overcome if he truly wants to settle everything once and for all.

Or maybe im overthinking it again. Who knows.
