Nuts & Bolts 2
That's pretty much crackdown, no?I'd love a sequel to Blast Corps that uses the destruction tech from Screamride.
They already have a base too, whatever blacktusk had done on shanghai heist.
That's pretty much crackdown, no?
is rare big enough to be working on more than 1 game?
CD is using some cloud powered destruction tech. Not sure why, after playing the demo, I feel the destruction tech in Screamride would be perfect.
I just know that will the tech will be good, it's going to be case of getting the game to work due to downtime or other issues that seem to be hitting XBL with an increasing regularity...
Micorosft seems to be teasing Conker quite a bit lately, even Seavor acknowledges and retweets some of those teases. Between that, being asked to voice the character and the whole Project Spark fiasco I want to assume a new one is being made. Banjo has been endlessly teased as well so I'm expecting one or both of these games.
I think they are using the same tech but screamride is heavily toned down compared to what Crackdown will be like due to not being calculated in the cloud. Crackdowns apparently can't be done using just the hardware on your local machine according to kampfheld.

He didn'say "four games based on Rare IPs", he said "four Rare IPs". Conker is an IP that is currently being worked on.Scratch Conker because that's just assets being used in another game.
Banjo and Battletoads are locks based on the t-shirt Spencer wore and a certain morse code message.
Spencer also tweeted that Rare wasn't working on a Perfect Dark. So my guess is that they would be doing an Xbox IP so another Kameo or Viva Piñata.
Didn't Kampf say their tech was completely different to that in SC? I know their reasons fo why their destruction tech is cloud powered, I'm just not sold on the idea as XBL isn't exactly bullet proof and I hate the idea of a CD being online only.
A much better move would have been to make a different game with their cloud powered tech and give us a traditional CD game that built on CD1 and CD2. I don't feel destruction is necessarily something CD needed.

The Crackdown engine and the one Screamride is using remain two completely different things. Don't get me wrong, I really like what they did with Screamride especially since it runs locally, but with Crackdown we have very different goals, requirements and also possibilities. However - and I'm repeating myself here - I still think the destruction in Screamride is very well done already and if performed right pretty satisfying.if i remember correctly ken lobb said its using a toned down version of the crackdown destruction and because the scale is small enough they simply used a few cpu cores to do the computing locally. the destruction in crackdown will be much bigger.
If the Screamride demo's performance is the same as the retail build then... no. The frame-rate drops constantly and putting that in an open world with NPCs, vehicles, particles, day/night cycle, etc, the game's frame-rate would run in the single digits.
Just looked through kamps post history and you're correct
At least I'm not going crazy if other people thought the same as I did. But I trust Kamp so I'll take Kamps word for it. Maybe we misinterpreted ken lobb or something.
Correct. He didn'say "four games based on Rare IPs", he said "four Rare IPs".
It's completely up to us to prove you otherwise. And I'm very confident we will do so.I don't feel destruction is necessarily something CD needed.
Yeah, the frame-rate isn't great, but I'm sure they could get it performing better with some more time in the oven. After all, it's not doing that much more than RF: Guerilla and that had a much better frame-rate...
Honestly I'm not sure lol. Something in the back of my mind thought they were and after reading big_z's post saying he thought ken lobb saying something along those lines, I figured that's where I got that idea from too since we both thought roughly the same thing. I tried googling a few things and found nothing really hinting as much.. So I don't know where I or big_z got that idea from. Basically it seems like I'm talking nonsense and you haven't missed anything. What did Ken Lobb say?
I feel I missed something. Something about CD and SC using the same engines?
It's completely up to us to prove you otherwise. And I'm very confident we will do so.
Regarding CD/SR tech: there are similarities because both are featuring destruction tech. I think this is what Klobb was talking about. You could argue that this is a sneak-peek at the much larger-scaled destruction in CD. Still, technically, both remain two different things.
I was way more impressed with RF Guerilla's destruction than Screamride's. I really do hope Crackdown is an online-only game so I can see cloud-enabled destruction in real world tests to finally put an end to "teh clowdz" controversy that likes to pop up when it's mentioned.

I really hope you can. I want to believe that such a decision wouldn't have been made unless it really made sense and brought something new to the table.
I'm still cautious/worried though. I'd still much rather not see too big of a focus on destruction in CD and rather see a game that builds upon what came before. More transforming vehicles, kingpins with super powers, city wide lieutenant battles, reinforcements when you attack lieutenants, etc.
Yeah, Guerilla tech still remains very impressive. Really not sure why SC seems to struggle so much when it's not doing that much more.
I'm definitely interested to see what the cloud brings to gaming beyond dedicated servers, but I maintain I would have preferred it was introduced with a different game. To have waited so long for a new CD only to have it be online only and with some newly developed cloud tech is worrying.
It's not about replacing fundamental game features that are connected to the Crackdowns identity anyway but adding another dynamical layer of possible satisfication moments. Crackdowns unique identity first. Everything else (tech etc.) second.
It's not like "okay, we got this cool tech - which IP would fit to it?". It was more like "Okay, Crackdown needs to return - but what can we do to take it one step further". You pretty much already had the same Crackdown experience in two titles. So why not try something new here.
Not the Kampfheld we deserved but the Kampfheld we neededI believe in Kampfheld!
We need to get badges or something, perhaps a hashtag?

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. But we also know that if the new Crackdown was the same old as CD 1&2 -- just in 900p-1080p with better graphics -- it would get trashed by some, and the "that's not next-gen gameplay" would get thrown around. Something fresh added to Crackdown could be a great thing... if it works. Bringing down half of a building to get to some previously unreachable orbs could be very cool. If the online stumbles like TMCC or Driveclub then it could be a disaster. Having trouble connecting or some other unseen issue that rears its ugly head once tens-to-hundreds of thousands are playing -- with no offline mode to fall back on -- could lose some people their jobs. Hopefully, the Crackdown devs are allowed the necessary time to get it running near-perfect before release. That's the thing, I guess. Worth risking the Crackdown IP on unproven cloud destruction?
I can not confirm things like this right here, I'm sorry. Are we going to see it at E3 this year? Sorry if you have already confirmed this. I don't follow your posts
It's a joke based on something some suits said upon buying rare.Donkey Kong? Nintendo still owns that IP (which is why Nintendo has been releasing Donkey Kong Country titles on Wii U), Microsoft got Banjo Kazooie.

You don't concentrate on risks. You concentrate on results. No risk is too great to prevent the necessary job from getting done. (Chuck Yeager).
If a new IP would've been created just to show the tech ... Do you really think this IP would've ever had the chance to create its own identity? The game would've probably being overshadowed by the tech itself. And that's about it. This is exactly what we don't want. It's okay if Crackdown will be a kind of flagship-title for clod computing. We understand that and this is fine. In the end tho it's the game and its unique identity that matters the most. Not the tech. Every single decision is being made in favor of the Crackdown identity.
If the rumor holds true, it's a 2016 title. So it could show up at E3. *crosses fingers*Ok mate. I had to ask!!! I want to see this...
I need some CD lol

Microsoft got Donkey Kong when they bought Rare right? Hopefully we get a new DKC game.
They got Mario too, can't wait.
Perfect Dark is probably the one Rare IP that could easily be rebooted into something else without people objecting to it.I could see PD coming back as a stealth action game.
Far from it. They have roughly 140 employees according to Linkedin. While there probably are some employees without Linkedin accounts, I doubt the number is very high. The studio is quite large. The last time I checked, the figure was around 300 employees...If I remember correctly, that is!
If they're doing a Banjo sequel then what's up with former Rare devs making a spiritual successor?
So, I don't think a Banjo sequel is actually happening. They're most likely doing a new Battletoads and maybe Perfect Dark/Conker.
Why do MS insist in tarnishing Rare IPS... They have so much other IPS in the vault from other dead studios they killed...
Delicious its not...The salt in this post is delicious.
The new studio working on the Banjo like game is way more exciting.
