I like UI, its quick and simple, while there is stuff I'd like to be rid of but it isn't exactly terrible. Favorite UI is still the First pre-avatar 360 UI
Vita has hardware flash memory specifically to store the entirety of the ram.
XB1 also has 8GB of flash memory for this purpose.
PS4 doesn't, and would need a different, more complex solution.
If a game or app gets updated, this does seem to bump it to the front of the list. So likely, one of the many apps under TV were updated recently.
What does this have to do with anything?
I like the PS4's UI, but you can tell it wasn't made in the U.S.
EDIT-
Compared to XB1's UI.
Well I'm glad it wasn't done in the US then. Seems way less ad-free than my X1's UIunless there's a remove-ad option I missed somewhere
Having an understanding of UI needs and likes, how things function, in the U.S.? Better communication with consumers?

M'lud, I present to you Windows 8 Metro interface as an example of how the above mentioned point about the US making better UIs is horsehit. If that is indeed the point my esteemed fellow poster was making. Which if it wasn't I apologise.
lol. Well i mean they seem to have a better grasp on how to do things and what the console needs, the monthly updates and all. I don't know.
Somebody help.

I find it funny when people say the Xbox One UI is atrocious when its the most organized one. Just go to games and apps, and you have all your games and app organized into different sections. Then you can pin anything you want on the main dash. With that said the Xbox One UI could use some stability..
I agree, it feels like Sony has been sitting on their hands. I just don't know what the hell they're doing over there and why they're so slow to do it. It irks me, but as long as they start developing some strong first party software, I'll be alright for now.

It's lacking features but "clunky?" Mine is quick and snappy, every time.
The fact the OP says its slow and clunky is a straight up lie.
Most responsive and intuitive OS this gen without a doubt.
Title smells like clickbait.
Here's the wiki page with a complete summary of the updates so far.
I'd be interested to see what your definition of productivity is if this is 'sitting on their hands'.
So just "stability", am I'm correct?
just jk guys
Is it wrong of me to not expect anything better from Sony on PS4? I mean, did they ever change the (in my opinion, slow and awful looking) UI on the PS3? My Xbox 360 and Xbox One have always received awsome UI updates and new features, and I have always been looking forward to updates from Microsoft. The PS3 and PS4 on the other hand, not so much.
I was always under the impression that they made it worse and more ad filled with each revision on X360. Isn't it always about the Blades?
I know I'm in a minority here but I couldn't give a hoot about the UI... It's serviceable, fast and it gets me to games.
I bought the console for games.
On the Xbox 360? Yeah, they probably made it worse, but still way better than the first PS3 UI that never changed.
The UI could use some organizational options but it's fast and responsive, which I love. Considering how far Sony has come with XMB, I'm not too worried about the PS4 UI.
Man, that really puts things in perspective. Thanks for opening my eyes, friend.

This is incorrect. The 8GB of flash does not store a copy of the ram for suspend. In fact its purpose is to help boot time when NOT in suspend by caching the OS there. When you are in suspend the RAM maintains its power and data, it is not copied to the NAND.
But the PS4 UI is a lot faster than the PS3 UI, I have to give them that. It`s like they switched place with Xbox this generation.
Do you have/remember a source for this? I'd be interested to read the details.
We use it as a cache system-side to improve system response and again not disturb system performance on the titles running underneath. So what it does is that it makes our boot times faster when you're not coming out of the sleep modeif you're doing the cold boot. It caches the operating system on there. It also caches system data on there while you're actually running the titles and when you have the snap applications running concurrently. It's so that we're not going and hitting the hard disk at the same time that the title is. All the game data is on the HDD. We wanted to be moving that head around and not worrying about the system coming in and monkeying with the head at an inopportune time.
I don't mind the UI but the lack of features is pretty bad.
The fact that I can't see when my friends get online is ridiculous.
