Street Fighter V - Charlie Nash trailer; beta for all pre-orders in NA

So when they say pre ordering gets you in the beta, do they mean pre ordering from any place? It could be Gamestop, Amazon, or straight from Sony Entertainment Network and they will all work the same?

Just wondering because I've been looking all over the place online and I only see it for pre order at Amazon. So I was just wondering if I should go ahead and pre order there to secure a spot in that beta.

Holy fucking SHIT does he look nuts! Psyched as hell to see this myself. I love that he looks so different from Guile but still retains traits. Did not expect this AT ALL.

And plus this means Guile could come back!

with MK X coming out and tremendous amount of hype it has behind it Capcom should be careful. As of now MK X will probably dominate the FG market and if capcom wants to be king of fighters again they gotta really do something to bring in the casuals. I really hope they listen to player feedback and experiment with the games speed. no disk locked DLC i really hope they learned their lesson from SFXTekken. And i really hope they add lots of singleplay content for casuals. Cause so far aside from the speed this game looks amazing to me.

Based on what? It's releasing probably a full year earlier so it will have a head start and people will probably be ready for something new by the time SFV releases. Story content only lasts so long. There is room for both.

What is the release date of Street Fighter? have we got it yet.?
Does the release of beta means that final release is not more than 6 months away.?

Whats with this Guile could come back, he was in SFIV, am I missing something its the game supposed to take after III?

Honestly how many can you squeeze in to a 16 man roster. Out of which only 13 - 12 might be returning. Juri is pretty much on lock for SF4 rep. I really dont see any other SF4 character making it in. SF3 has Urien or Gill more or less on lock too. and yea I think alex has a pretty good chance.
Viper

That redesign got a lot of flack at the time if I'm not mistaken. That's why they went back to her old costume later in the alpha and crossover series.
Eh times have changed in the era of dlc and the internet showing of neichified enthusiasts are. I dont think enough people would actually give any simblance of a shit

We need regional themed stages. And a little plane that sends you to each one.

None of this generic dinosaur bullshit.
Dinosaurs are cool.
Also i like stages of the world more than character specific ones.
How about character specific stages? It's just lazy having these generic stages
How is that lazy?

The current rumor is 2016 before the end of the fiscal year. The end of the fiscal year is March 31st 2016 I believe. So hopefully sometime in March of next year. Which makes sense if we get a beta by this Summer or Fall which is what I'm guessing will happen.

As for the new color pallet, I'm liking it a lot more than the original trailer. I'm seeing plenty of complaints about it as well. But I prefer a brighter more cartoony look compared to whatever the first one was. If they can continue to touch it up to improve it even more then I welcome it, but I'm pretty satisfied with the current look if that's what they want to stick to.

Agreed, the reason why they dropped it was so nonsensical. It's a game, it's about style and fun, some people are too anal about trivial things.

That was a cover answer. I believe Combofiend said it was really dropped because post-KO hits would sometimes freeze the game so removing them altogether was the easy fix.

Why are people acting like theres a beta next week and the game is coming out soon? They announced plans for a beta, could be 6-8 months away for all we know. Game will launch spring 2016 unless it gets delayed.

Man he looks dirty with the Sonic Boom/ teleport cross up potential! I wonder if it's going to play more like 4 or 3 in terms of the way combos and links work. Any insight on gameplay subtleties?

Where did you get this information from?

Actually, out of my ass...

I don't know if Guile won't be in SFV, I just assume, since Charly and Guile have never been in the same SF game as their fighting styles are kind of similar, have they?

(btw, been maining Guile since SF2Turbo, so I guess if that happens, I will kinda miss him.)

For a while, I was really skeptical of the PC version being any good, even with crossplay and all that, but the beta has me hoping that may they won't fuck it up as much as I thought. I guess we'll have to see what the beta's actually for, or if it's just a glorified demo. If they did a Skullgirls style beta, where they constantly add new stuff, make balance patches, and try out experimental changes, then I'll completely wipe Capcom off of my shit list. But chances are they won't do that, since it's going to be on PS4 as well and they can't patch often on that.

Before this, I would have said 3. But now there are tons of links in the trailer: Chun does c.lp > c.mk; Ryu does what looks like s.mp > c.mk; charlie does TONS of links off of his c.lp (into c.mp, c.mk, and what looks like s.hp), but he also looks to have a target combo with s.lp > s.mp.

So maybe a bit of both 3 and 4.

I love links, so this new trailer got me super, duper hype.

I think having the return of both Charlie and Bison pretty much cements a spot for Guile in the roster. There is a story arch for each game afterall... how could they not have Guile being forced into fighting Charlie and trying to snap him out of Bison's brainwashing.

MKX might take some of SF5's mainstream audience away as it looks awesome.

But serious fighting game fans will obviously stay with SF because, well, it looks friggin' awesome so far too.

They're like a year apart. Any "mainstream" people will have moved on and be looking for something new by the time SF5 comes out. I'd understand the argument if they were releasing anywhere close to one another, but with the disparity in release dates, I don't even know why this is a conversation.

Woeful lack of SFIII and SFIV characters.

I think we're going to see Alex at the very least.

Yes, Alex's chance is likely due to a teaser poster in USF4.

I'm pretty sure that they already learned slot from the situation. Take it with grain of salts, rumor implied that they did learned their own lessons and trying to avoid upgrade version path, and possibly going with KI seasons style. We will see in a year or two.

No, this game will happens before SF3.

People keep saying that SFV happens before SF3 because of Bison. Which, to be honest, isn't really making any sense. M. Bison has never truly died and just because he didn't show up in SF3 means nothing.

However, the fact that Ryu has the Denjin Hadouken and that his Gi is practiacally ruined and falling apart, is evidence that SFV takes place at some point after SF3. Now, Capcom could just be adding shit for whatever reason, but it's more likely that SFV takes place after SF3.

Oh ok. That was based off the assumption that they release close together. I see now that that, ahem, probably won't be the case...

Whatever they do with the story, I just hope you don't have to play through it to unlock characters. I'll happily ignore it completely if the game allows me to.

Yes! Street Fighter is at its best when it gives us cartoony cultural stereotypes. it is what made the series good. The developers need to really lay it on thick and not worry about being pc.
I'd have to agree. I've always thought as Tekken as tbe better series for serious or realistic characters, while Street Fighter is best for ones who make no sense. That's obviously not mutually exclusive of course, but still.

Did they ever run with the idea of characters having their own set stages and background music every time you fight them in SFIV? That was always one of my favorite parts of SFII back in the day; every time I saw "Vs Ken", I knew my face was about to be rocked off!

You mean character themes? Yea in SFIV each character has its own music theme (remixes from SF2, 3 and Alpha), but not stages.
This is hidden in sound options, though. By default you will only hear the stage's music...

Its pretty resource consuming having a stage for each character, I'd be happy with stages shared with other characters like Rufus/Ken and the Drive - In At Night stage in SFIV

Yes, and hopefully with new moves, let me sonic boom diagonally while jumping
