Sooo a Skyrim Remaster seems logical to me

EDIT: Yes I'm talking about a PS4 and Xbox One Remaster. Can we please keep the "just buy it for PC" out of this discussion I don't want this thread derailed, thanks.

Replaying Skyrim on PS3 and the textures, lighting and resolution really are dragging down what is an otherwise incredible game. It already has amazing vistas and scenery with pretty good draw distance. The res and textures are just so low it kinda destroys the amazing world. Low res textures could easily be fixed with the memory upgrade to next gen. I imagine those epic load screens that happen every time you enter and exit a room could be halved at least, if not eliminated. I think this is one game that has sold enough and still has enough of a following to warrant a HD remaster.

Only thing that needs to happen is a cross save function that would allow everyone to bring over their epic save files from previous gen.

Would you support something like this GAF?

Play it on PC and it's gorgeous especially with the huge amount of mods out there. The PS3 port is a mess.

A remaster would be fine! So they could fix the awful combat, and change the environments so that they're not as desolated as a desert

Why does GAF live in a world where every person has a gaming PC? It trivializes discussions when the only thing that is said is "get the PC version".

Yes, there is a strong mod community there. And no, I am not begging for more ports and remasters. I like new games as well.

he didn't mention he had a PS4 or Xbox One.
If he owned a gaming PC, this wouldn't be a necessity in the first place.

Its pretty clear he's talking about next-gen consoles. Surely I'm not the only one able to make such basic inferences?

If you got one then you wouldn't have to buy games twice.
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into it...

The game's probably too rough looking to just push out the door at 1080p and call it a day. 2011 is a long time ago.

Given the B tier stuff getting remasters I am surprised it hasn't happened but I guess there are a few logical reasons.

They want people to play Elder Scrolls Online and not Skyrim again.
The engine seems like a mess and porting it would be harder then a normal remaster.
"Just get the PC version"

Just got a new graphics card and while running through games to test I tried Skyrim at 1080 and maxed. My old card could only get it running at 720 at low / medium so I guess its kind of like experiencing a remaster/

It looks decent. Not amazing. Not anywhere near Dragon Age Inquisition or Witcher 3 but its not ugly ugly.

The Fallout games though? Those have not aged well at all.

Making new games seems logical to me. Not making this a generation that exists of nothing other than fucking remasters. Enough of this already.

If you want the "proper" versions without all the last-gen console bullshit holding you back just buy the PC versions for 3 bucks during the next Steam sale! And then save the big bucks for actual new games for your new toys.

If every person who made a Skyrim remaster thread bought the potential 're-release, it would outsell the original version 3 to 1. Bethesda would be crazy not to run with those odds.

They would have to make it heavily multi-threaded. Game doesn't run all that well at times on AMD CPUs, I can only imagine what it would be like on some weak sub 2Ghz chip.

You don't even need much of a gaming PC to play the game at better graphics settings than a last gen console.

Also, I think GAF assumes that anyone dedicated enough to the hobby of gmaing to be posting on GAF likely owns more than one gaming platform, and odds aren't bad that that other gaming platform is a PC.

There's is already a remastered version. It's on Steam and requires a bit of modding.

The glory of TES/Fallout community projects...

You don't need a high end gaming PC to run skyrim though.

Yeah, I mean I know everyone doesn't have a gaming PC. However, for a game like this which a dedicated mod community. Any "remaster" is still going to fall short of what the community is already putting out.

You guys realize not everybody has a gaming PC, right? :/

I honestly don't think they do.

Buy the PC version

It's not hard

I think most people on GAF would say just buy the PC version.

This thread finished before it even started.

It's probably time for posts like these to stop. It's like popping in to every thread and saying "Just get the PS4 version."

sorry, I was being a dick

Because that's the only option in this case. Bethesda is too small to dedicate a significant number of its developers away from Fallout 4. Todd Howard has also rebuffed everyone who asked about remastering Morrowind, he wants to keep doing new games.

If they could make one for the PC, more specifically one that doesn't shit the bed over 60fps.
I'd be all over it.

I'm still looking for the ideal settings for my 144hz monitor, but opinions differ and no two people say the same thing.

I'm pretty sure they don't because it happens constantly in every thread that the opportunity presents itself.

That being said, playing on PC is wonderful because of all the mods. I was running around 40-50 mods when I stopped playing.
