I am currently playing Skyrim at 4K downsampled and with a lot of graphical mods and boy does it make that game beautiful - even without ENB. I fell in love with it all over again. So I'd totally be for a Remaster for my console brethren. It would be absolutely worth the double dip. The climb to the Greybeards with weathermods on and improved draw distance is nothing short of mindblowing.
I think most people on GAF would say just buy the PC version.
You really don't have to build one
This. I'm okay with games like Wind Waker, Majora's Mask, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy X | X2...those are older games. Skyrim is still relatively new. No need to ask for a remaster of it since the PC version can be better than what the PS4 or XBox One could produce. It's probably the time for posts asking for remasters to stop
I dunno. People around here sure love their remasters.
My PC can't run it, certainly not at max settings, which if thats supposed to be the substitute for a next gen remaster, would defeat the whole point.
I think it would be best to leave the old games behind for now and concentrate on new experiences.
I'd be quite interested to know what sort of PC specs you need to play it at 1080p/45-60fps at max settings, actually.
There are a lot of console gamers who who do not PC game, do not have rigs that could run Pac Man, let alone Skyrim and have no interest in committing any money into building one, so telling me to "just play the PC version" is like saying " just use mind powers to fly". Useless.
Please don't start a thread with "I want this game ported to my new console".
There is already a cheap and way better looking/working/modded version of almost all console games on pc but you still decided to buy a console with almost no benefits instead of building a pc with that money.
I'm still amazed how people are buying consoles as their main gaming platform without owning and maining gaming on a decent pc.
It's ok to have a console but if you're interested in more than a few overpriced underwhelming games and want a library of great and cheap games you did the wrong choice.
Look at the pro/contra and think about it.
Did you choose right or just throw money on an already outdated hardware with just few forgettable games?
*I own all last gen consoles and a new XL and VIta but still play on PC.
People I know who already bought a current gen console (mainly PS4) do not play them regularly/are bored of the games and bought it on a promise of games which probably wouldn't be fulfilled until 2017.
Be reasonable with your money folks and don't be afraid of something better just because you think it's complicated.
So a modern CPU and a dedicated GPU. Something most people probably don't have in their computer at home.I have an intel i5 3.2 GHz with a 750ti
1080p 60fps Ultra Settings
Thanks for turning the thread into a PC master race wankfest.
Same for me, and I agree.I think Skyrim is still a beautiful game and I play it on the 360.
Buy the PC version
It's not hard
Can't we just stop with this crap? There are a lot of people out there who do not want to deal with the usual PC hassle and who do not want to spend hours to mod this game. Let those people have their Remaster if they want it. Playing a TES with 60 fps and high resolution sure is an experience everyone should have. Please don't start a thread with "I want this game ported to my new console".

"Backwards compatibility doesn't effect my purchase decision."
"Remaster everything!"

The thing is, if I was going to spend the time and money to build a gaming PC, I would want to spend more than $500 on it to reap the performance benefits of it. Not to mention that I'd need to buy a new monitor because my last two computers have been laptopsPlease don't start a thread with "I want this game ported to my new console".

Ah yes the play it ok PC argument. I'd welcome a skyrim remaster. I wouldn't play it but it'd be nice.
Jesus christ no. Just get the PC version. You can play that shit on a fucking potato. I don't ever want to touch vanilla skyrim again. I don't ever want to touch anything bethesda makes unmodded again.
It may be logical, considering how many copies Skyrim sold, but perhaps Bethesda isn't as eager to jump on that bandwagon because they're too busy creating the next 20+million seller?
For the 1001 time: A Remaster doesn't have to be done by the core team. Outsource that shit, no problem. And there are people who would rather have fresh new experiences. Remastering takes time.
one of the 2 things is (probably) impossible, one of the 2 things is due to being stubborn. If you want a skyrim remaster, you're only *real* option at this point and realistically speaking is going to be to get it on PC.
Id buy a XBONE version - would have to be around the £20 mark though...
re: the PC argument, not everyone has/wants a big gaming PC, simple as that.

Not if you want to reap the true benefits of the PC version... Otherwise OP could just stick to the 360/PS3 version you know....a less "modern" Cpu could run skyrim.
For you.... For OP it seems not. It's still a waste of time and money.
Playing a TES with 60 fps and high resolution sure is an experience everyone should have.

Can't wait for remaster remasters in the next genLets remaster the entire last generation.
Without a dedicated GPU? At 1080p/45-60fps and max settings equivalent?a less "modern" Cpu could run skyrim.
Again, a modern CPU and a dedicated GPU. Not helping the argument here.I had a 3770k and a GTX560ti that ran it like that in 2012
