Sooo a Skyrim Remaster seems logical to me

I am currently playing Skyrim at 4K downsampled and with a lot of graphical mods and boy does it make that game beautiful - even without ENB. I fell in love with it all over again. So I'd totally be for a Remaster for my console brethren. It would be absolutely worth the double dip. The climb to the Greybeards with weathermods on and improved draw distance is nothing short of mindblowing.

Thank you! Like I said, playing it though again atm I just can't help but imagine how amazing this game would look if given the 'GTA V' levels of remastered treatment.

Considering I see some peoples play times exceeding 500 hours it shows just how much of a following the game has. They could also throw in some next gen snow falling, little things would make such a big difference in this game. Lights blooming out of the windows in the villages at night. Anything that improves the look of some of the NPC's would be great, which again, I think are made worse by lower res textures and resolution.

This could Be cool. I have a friend who only plays sports games who played skyrim because he said something looked special. A remastered version would be dope.

But I wouldn't buy it. After playing with mods I can't go back to the console version.

It's probably the time for posts asking for remasters to stop
This. I'm okay with games like Wind Waker, Majora's Mask, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy X | X2...those are older games. Skyrim is still relatively new. No need to ask for a remaster of it since the PC version can be better than what the PS4 or XBox One could produce.

Please don't start a thread with "I want this game ported to my new console".
There is already a cheap and way better looking/working/modded version of almost all console games on pc but you still decided to buy a console with almost no benefits instead of building a pc with that money.
I'm still amazed how people are buying consoles as their main gaming platform without owning and maining gaming on a decent pc.
It's ok to have a console but if you're interested in more than a few overpriced underwhelming games and want a library of great and cheap games you did the wrong choice.
Look at the pro/contra and think about it.
Did you choose right or just throw money on an already outdated hardware with just few forgettable games?

*I own all last gen consoles and a new XL and VIta but still play on PC.
People I know who already bought a current gen console (mainly PS4) do not play them regularly/are bored of the games and bought it on a promise of games which probably wouldn't be fulfilled until 2017.

Be reasonable with your money folks and don't be afraid of something better just because you think it's complicated.

I would be strongly against a Skyrim remaster for a few of reasons:

  1. Skyrim is the weakest game in the series (my personal opinion, despite the fact that I enjoyed playing it very much).
  2. Bethesda's game design formula is to create huge worlds that offer virtually endless hours of exploration and adventure. Their time and money would be better spent working on sequels to Elder Scrolls/Fallout, or even working on a new IP.
  3. This generation is already being saturated with remastered versions of older games. We don't need more enouragement for this.

The only Elder Scrolls game so far worth getting a remastered version is Morrowind. Thankfully, modders have been working constantly to bring Morrowind to the current generation (first with the Morrowind Graphics and Sound Overhaul mod, then with Morroblivion, and now with Skywind). However, even I would discourage Bethesda from creating an official remastered version of Morrowind. I want them to explore new stories and new places in the Elder Scrolls series.

I, for one, really hope that ES VI takes place in Black Marsh. I think it would be super awesome.

I'd be quite interested to know what sort of PC specs you need to play it at 1080p/45-60fps at max settings, actually.

I'd like to know which console would run the game at those settings, too, because it wouldn't be any of those we currently have

There are a lot of console gamers who who do not PC game, do not have rigs that could run Pac Man, let alone Skyrim and have no interest in committing any money into building one, so telling me to "just play the PC version" is like saying " just use mind powers to fly". Useless.

one of the 2 things is (probably) impossible, one of the 2 things is due to being stubborn. If you want a skyrim remaster, you're only *real* option at this point and realistically speaking is going to be to get it on PC.

Thanks for turning the thread into a PC master race wankfest.

Jesus christ no. Just get the PC version. You can play that shit on a fucking potato. I don't ever want to touch vanilla skyrim again. I don't ever want to touch anything bethesda makes unmodded again.

It may be logical, considering how many copies Skyrim sold, but perhaps Bethesda isn't as eager to jump on that bandwagon because they're too busy creating the next 20+million seller?

Can't we just stop with this crap? There are a lot of people out there who do not want to deal with the usual PC hassle and who do not want to spend hours to mod this game. Let those people have their Remaster if they want it. Playing a TES with 60 fps and high resolution sure is an experience everyone should have.

"Backwards compatibility doesn't effect my purchase decision."

"Remaster everything!"

So true.

And there are people who would rather have fresh new experiences. Remastering takes time.

The thing is, if I was going to spend the time and money to build a gaming PC, I would want to spend more than $500 on it to reap the performance benefits of it. Not to mention that I'd need to buy a new monitor because my last two computers have been laptops
I realize that I can just connect it to my TV, but I would prefer to play PC on a nice monitor with improved refresh rates and resolution
. When the new consoles launched, I already had a decent TV and had the money on hand to buy one and be guaranteed that it would run new games for years to come. When my income is such that I can make a $1000+ investment in a PC purely for playing games, I will make that jump, but for now it just didn't make sense for me. It's not an outright wrong decision to play on consoles, it's a very reasonable one given my present circumstances.

Ah yes the play it ok PC argument. I'd welcome a skyrim remaster. I wouldn't play it but it'd be nice.

It'd be pointless. You'd be paying full price (or close) for a game that is much, much better on PC.

Remasters of newer games is a waste of time.

Remasters give work to third party studios. They wouldn't put Todd Howard to work on it.

Id buy a XBONE version - would have to be around the £20 mark though...

re: the PC argument, not everyone has/wants a big gaming PC, simple as that.

Well if I have zero interest in playing Skyrim on PC, then both are about as likely in my reality. I understand there is a perfectly viable version of Skyrim that looks great and has all these mods on PC. I don't PC game so it may as well not exist as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not even "port begging" for a Skyrim remaster, only that if there was one, I'd buy it and its one of the few last gen games I think that could really benefit from one (RDR is another).

Yes, I would love one as well. I have a laptop that is good for some light gaming and that is about it. Besides that, I just prefer to play on my consoles anyway. Tons of people would happily scoop up a remastered Skyrim Legendary Edition. Or better yet, how about the Elder Scrolls Anthology? I mean, they have a massive console audience, so it only makes sense.

Playing a TES with 60 fps and high resolution sure is an experience everyone should have.

I agree. and you'll only get that with the (current) pc version. I would be fuckin shocked if a hypothetical skyrim console remaster was anything above 1080/30 knowing how these things tend to go

Lets remaster the entire last generation. I think that will fix everything.

Just kidding.....Skyrim was a good game but, I don't need to replay it because better graphics. Plus it won't have mods....

For the 1001 time: A Remaster doesn't have to be done by the core team. Outsource that shit, no problem.
That worked well for MCC

As said above there is no direct need for PS3/X360 generation games to be remastered, these games are still decent.

Lets remaster the entire last generation.
Can't wait for remaster remasters in the next gen
"The last of us remastered : remastered is such a gem of video game and story telling, oh my god"

I'm not good at finding sales figures, but I'd be interested in knowing what the life time sales of Skyrim are. Especially if we could narrow that down to a console only figure.
