FINAL FANTASY TYPE-0 - Comparison video

And all of us NA people are thinking how a comparison video for a game we never had only makes the wait that much harder.

Man, this game will be great. I didn't expect the variety of environments the game seems to have.

The only thing that really bothers me with these comparisons are that the gameplay framerate or animations still seem somewhat jerky

But I don't know if that's youtube or just a consequence of porting from the PSP, either way, I'll get over it.

Yeah its not as good as it could be in quite a few areas from teh videos I have seen

Its still a significant upgrade. Just wont compare well with other PS4 games lol

As a side note can anyone clue me in on how the Multiplayer works in this game?

Multiplayer has been cut for the HD release

Graphics are a mixed bag, sometimes the game looks nice, sometimes it's a low poly mess and the industrial/robotic setting doesn't help.
Honestly the Vita would have been the perfect match for this remaster........ :/
But honestly I don't care a lot about graphics, I know it's a PSP game at its root so expectations can't be high, I just want the game not to suck, paying 50€ for a FFXV demo would be too much :P Hopefully it's better than spinoffs like Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core and 3rd Birthday.

Characters look really good!

Some NPC's and Cidler didn't seem to transition too well compared to the playable classmates who seem to have got the biggest overhauls

Straight laziness apparently. They seem to be begrudgingly bringing this over in the cheapest most fail safe way possible
Cheap? This is probably the most effort ever put into a remaster. People are not even thinking that this was a PSP game, they're trying to compare it with other PS4 games.

I guessing they also removed the need to grind then?
You never needed to grind for the main story though, the last mission is like, level 34 or something.

Just do the side missions on NG+, the levels match perfectly.

sorry to ask that, but afaik if I buy the game in japan, I can fully change the language to english right?

my gf wants to play the game too..I would be good with jp only. if not I have to buy it twice ^^"..

I don't think I realised how bad the DOF was until I saw the round of videos this time. Really hope they'll have an option to turn it off, because it is appallingly excessive.

Looks pretty good.

Only thing I wish they kept was that dark-red tone of some scenes that now look more "grey and brown".

Hopefully this gets a pricedrop or sale soon

Damn impressive.

It better be for 70 bucks Canadian lol...I thought this would be like 49 bucks since its a what, 4 year old PSP game...?,thank god it has the FFXV demo and it actually looks like fun ;)

EDIT; Just checked in came out in 2011 so not 8 years lol :P

Not a fan of a lot of the lighting changes in the game. Lots of moody dark lighting changed to bright foggy weirdness. The res bump is of course extremely noticeable but I hate when remasters change the "mood" when messing with lighting. Of course, maybe it wasn't especially intentional in the PSP version.

I actually think the change in mood works very well for the school, since it's supposed to be a place of peace and tranquility, which I think the new lighting conveys very well.

I see. Does the game has extra story post-game/NG+?
NG+, yeah. You can carry over pretty much everything (character levels, quest completion, items, etc.) and you can tackle sidequests that were prolly out of your level range. There are a handful of new scenes too. Dunno if they added anything else to the HD remaster.

Were we watching the same video? The PSP environments looked more bright and distinctive than the dark dull lighting in the remaster. Unless you were just talking about those character shots.

of course they do, just not all as much as some others. Unless you think that jaggies give the game more atmosphere :p

In a lot of the scenes they show I much prefer the colors on the PSP version. Framerate and models are a welcome upgrade in every case, but there's still something about the art style that clicks a bit more for me on the PSP version.

Though it's a bit of a moot point since I have no way of playing the PSP version and I'll get over it.

Yup. A lot of the story missions change (with new scenes too) and there's a new ending too (apparently two new endings in the HD version).

Thanks. Sounds great.

Do I really want to do a ng+? Even the trophies look like you can do it all in one playthrough.

My understanding is that you need to play a NG+ in order to get a full understanding of the story. The extra stuff in it explains parts of the story the first playthrough doesn't. If I'm wrong someone who's played the game can correct me

Not really. But doing a NG+ will let you avoid grinding.

A lot of the side missions (since the beginning of the game) are already much higher level than you. So you will be grinding for quite a while.

And I didn't see the trophy list, but if you have to complete the "super dungeon" of the game, then you will need everyone at level 99, so that will end up taking some grinding.

Actually most scenes you get doesn't add much to the story, they are fairly basic.

But there are some stuff that helps understanding the story, for sure.
