How's Japan so far dani-man

Great, different but mostly tiring, spent most of yesterday walking back and forth with my baggage (I bought way too much stuff), today went to update my resident card with the address, the plan was to head down to Akihabara, but by the time we got there the general lack of sleep and jet lag caught up with me and my classmate.

I did get to see some early Sakura blossom at Ueno park, that should look amazing in a couple weeks when the blossom season begins in Tokyo.

Japanese people are way to nice thought, got helped a bunch of times by people that went out of their way to help me out (carrying stuff up/down ladders, directions), one women even insisted to take me all the way to the address I was looking for and then kept apologizing for everything (like when I ended up holding her umbrella cause she had to ask another person about a street location), I was honestly was overwhelmed by it.

I could go on about it, but I think I went off topic enough, I'll probably write down something on one of the Japan dedicated threads soonish.

I'll probably try to pick a Yotsuba volumes to try and practice reading.

Glad to see Paula back!
Lol.

I envy all the cuisine you get to savour on this trip.

First time eating Japanese food, though I'll mostly try to stick to cheap stuff seeing as my monthly budget isn't too high from what I can tell.

hey at least you won't spend 5/7ths of your week eating kyuushoku lol. I mean it's better than US school lunches I presume but it's still SCHOOL LUNCHES know what I'm saying

I did see a Jump on sale, I never quite realized how massive of a magazine it is.

Nisekoi 160

After this arc I want/expect everyone else to move in to Raku house, because why not.

I have no idea what to cook, stores feel like they sell so much different stuff from where I live!

Might stick with premade food from convenience stores, at least for the time being.

Demonizer Zilch 01-02

Mopey guy who lost both imoto and childhood friend meets a demon loli and I guess changes his life around or something.

Besides all the kissing, it's drowning in trying to sound edgy with all these fancy terms or whatever. So pretty meh.

I recognise that artist!

Omamori Himari had big boobs too, lol

Basically, shared house to be exact, I do have access to a kitchen and all the basic tools you'd expect in one though, so I'll have the ability to cook. I am wishing I had manage to get a place with it's own kitchen, but a bit too late for that, at least for the moment.

You should get yourself a rice cooker. Japanese pearl rice is the best. You can even use it to make bread if you really want to.

Get some seaweed, fry some frozen karaage, add some mayo, chilli powder, some teriyaki sauce (heated), and you've got a nice karaage-don. Get some miso soup and learn how to use chopsticks for extra japanese flavour.

and a slow cooker, especially if you have a job/uni classes during the day

Learn how to make tonkotsu soup base

I'll forgive you if you're a shoyu fan, but you're dead to me if you eat your ramen with miso soup

So many words and yet I don't understand any of it :(

I'd be tempted on a slow cooker if the kitchen wasn't shared, and the rice cookers looked pretty expensive, but I'll look around better when I have more time, thanks for the suggestions.

if you're there only half a year/year or so you can just get an el cheapo rice cooker/slow cooker for like 30-40 bucks

mind you I don't do a lot of japanese cooking at home. Since I'm out in the inaka it's not like I have much of a chance to have western food that isn't from joyful or gusto or maccas so I mainly eat out Japanese and make familiar dishes at home

I suggest you learn foodstuff quick. It helps when you're hungry.

also wait a sec you're staying long term? Is the entire mangagaf moving to japan slowly but surely?

Does Japan have a good petrochemical sector I can move to?

not non non biyori inaka. actually fairly big (the district has about 100,000 pop but probably only about 30,000-40,000 in the 'metro area' so to speak) but in terms of convenience and stuff it's far easier to truck out to osaka or nagoya

/edit actually it's probably about Inaba levels of inaka

ehhh that's still kind of okay I guess. most big cities just seem way too crowded for comfortable living

also nukes are a touchy subject in nippon. jintor you still haven't gone full japan yet

I'll try to learn as best as I can!

The plan at the moment is to stay for half a year, going to be doing research at National Institute of Informatics, going there tomorrow to get briefed on how things work.

I'll look around for a cheap one in the weekend, it would be extremely helpful, and 30-40 doesn't sound too bad. I might try looking for a place with it's own kitchen when I'm more settled in as well.

Looking back Gintama got lucky. It had a bad debut (10th spot) and was sitting at the bottom 3 for four weeks in a row in it's early life. Luckily for it the two below it got killed and then it began it's rise. Also my god 2004 was a crazy year for Jump: Death Note, Gintama, JoJo Part 7, Hitman Reborn and D.Grayman.

That may have been the best year in Terms of Newcomers that Jump had in this Century so far.

Sakuranbo Syndrome 70
Uh-oh. I could be reading too much into her reaction here, but it seems like the MC’s noble actions last chapter really have opened up her route. There’re a few obvious problems with this, one of which gave her a good slapping about 10 pages earlier.

phew, I'm in the clear
You did good! As a reward, I’ll mail you some of my best cooking. Though there’s a fair chance it will’ve melted the metal container by the time it arrives.

Why didn't anybody tell me there was a new Hana Yori Dango series??

Right now the first two chapters are free on Shonen Jump +. Are new chapters usually free on there, or will it it eventually be behind a paywall?

Fairy Tail 422

Ahaha Natsu is oblivious to the situation. He is going to give Note a butt kicking round two. Shame though, Note's power should be slapping everyone around.

Everyone is going to Japan!? I can't wait for a study abroad opportunity to go to Japan at my university. I'm gonna jump on that.

Fairy Tail 422

Anyone else feel like Wendy and Chelia being a couple will be strongly suggested next chapter? "Because I Love You" chapter title + recent yuri trend in the industry makes it feel very likely to me.

Yuri smut about a workaholic office lady and her kouhai.

Don't let your self be completely swallowed up by work, folks!
