DirectX 12 adds a 20% gpu boost to the PC version of Fable

xxracerxx

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
From Xbox Wire:

http://news.xbox.com/2015/03/xbox-gdc-2015

DirectX 12: DirectX 12 enables PC developers to have a new level of power and control and is a single API developers can access across Windows devices. As shown with Fable Legends running on Unreal Engine 4, there has been a 20% improvement in performance. And as announced today, Epic is creating Unreal Tournament using Unreal Engine 4 running on DirectX 12, which sets a new bar for visual fidelity in PC gaming.
So all this is about the PC in the end? No mention of boost in XBO?

Sounds like they botched the message again. Unfortunate. I thought Microsoft had removed the people that screwed up the messaging when the Xbox One launched :/

Playstations run on OpenGL that's the counter part of DX12. So PS4 could get a boost from OpenGL NEXT.

Nope. PS4 runs on two different custom graphics API's, one ultra low level one (closer to what DX12 is hoping for), and one higher level one, as well a custom shader language too.

Pretty interested to see the real world benefits to the Xbox One from DX12.

i knew i was taking a risk clicking on this thread.

At any rate it would have been nice to see them back up those performance improvement numbers with some real world data but I suppose that adds even more fuel to the fanboy fires.

If it can get multi-plats up to 1080p and a stable framerate, good, because I'm running out of hard drive space on my PS4.

Plus, I have every Arkham game on 360 physically whereas the PS3 versions were digital so it'd be nice to get it on the One to have a cohesive collection rather than opt for the PS4 version.

Hyperbole and jokes aside, with the PC being the "lead platform" for development, DX12 will probably be a notable boon for Xbone and a handicap for PS4. Would not be surprised if that's indeed what happened with Revelations 2, Crapcom took their existing DX PC work, ported it to Xbone easily, and it didn't work out so well on the OGL PS4. Lazy devs gonna lazy and the issues are likely going to be amplified with the move to DX12.

Is GFC 2015 being streamed live in its entirety?
The same way they stream E3 for example.

I would love to see some of the presentations going on over at GDC this year.

So, like, should the thread title changed from Xbox One to PC, or more specifically Fable PC?

Additionally, Elite: Dangerous is a pretty nice get. Is it exclusive? Like Wasteland 2 looked like it was yesterday but it turns out its coming to PS4.

Also, 20% on Fable Legends only. It could be more or less in other games (also depending on the hardware, obviously).

Maybe windows central is the one who misquoted Phil Spencer? Maybe that 20% GPU boost is true for both XBO and PC? Let's wait for more details before blaming Phil Spencer.

That 50% CPU boost is still bullshit though, even for PC.
