PS5 Pro Runs Max PC Settings in Lords of the Fallen, Says Dev; ‘A Comparable PC Would Be More Costly’

Interesting that he uses "custom machine learning hardware" twice for the PSSR enabler component, exact words from Cerny in PS5 PRO presentation. As if there is a specific terminology to refer to the feature required by Sony (with the emphasis on "custom").
Especially as they aren't using it.

PSSR is an impressive technology, offering quality comparable to DLSS and Unreal Engine 5’s built-in upscaling, with the added benefit of being embedded directly in the console, making it compatible with any engine: PSSR is undeniably a valuable addition. After extensive testing, we found no visual differences compared to our custom version of UE5's upscaling, which is also highly robust. Therefore, we decided to continue using our own upscaling method.

I like this fragment, so much praise for PSSR and it ends up with “Therefore, we decided to continue using our own upscaling method.”

Yeah ignore "actual" devs and believe Bojji from his mom's basement? Lol

LotF developers are not known for their technical capabilities, this game was stuttering on PS5 and Xbox (even had few seconds "pauses") and drops to like ~500p. Developers are hyping their games, this is normal PR. Problen is, many people believe this 1:1 because they hype Pro in the meantime.

Yeah, this is funny.

I didn’t enjoy fighting the same 5 enemies over and over again.

Yeah Im a big souls fans and this is hyperbole bullshit ... you didnt like the game ok ... but theres no need to lie or be hyperbolic.

Its not Dark Souls but its a prety close experience with twists of their own ... I enjoyed more than lies of pi and enjoyed both much more than elden ring to be honest.

If miyazaki stops making dark souls to make more bullshit elden ring Im happy that someone can make something close to the games I loved.

So you’re one of those people who struggle to differentiate between 30 and 60 fps. Cool.
No one is struggling to differentiate between anything.

It's very easy to see how much uglier 60fps makes a game look. lmao

The new Pro console makes it even more evident.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

You wanna show this to James in the other thread where he's arguing with you about all the different type of up-scalers, while a developer here is claiming that they found no difference in the UE5 built-in upscaler (assuming they mean TSR) and PSSR?

Of course, but most people simply prefer 60fps vs a rather small difference in visuals. On PC the difference between 30 and 60 fps in terms of graphics will be non-existent, assuming your PC is powerful enough.

I doubt this will change his mind in any way, haha.

TSR is better than most people think, better than fsr and the best non ML upscaler.

Of course developers are talking bullshit all the time, they probably didn't want to do all the work required or performance cost of pssr is too high.

Show, don't tell.

Sounds like they just want to peddle their average game.

But sure, you can do a lot, settings wise, when you cut your frame rate down to an abysmal 30 fps. I played this maxed out at 120 fps. You don't need to be a math nerd to see the rendering budget deficit here.
