Kotaku: I Tried VR Porn, And It Was Weird

What about if the vr girl sucks? Do you feel the ducking action through a wireless dongle?

Can't tell if autocorrect.

I've tried this before and it is pretty good considering the limitations of the screen (dk2 @ 1080). It's definitely a weird feeling when the models get close to you, and sort of intoxicating. As displays get better and the methods for filming get better...yeah we're gonna turn into Japan :p

This is the killer app for VR right here. There's just infinite possibilities for it.

That last quote... It both sounds terrifying and amazing.

Before we put this to market, we should do testing on the psych and look for patterns in brain activity and rewiring of the brain.

If static normal 2D porn fucks so many people, I think it is important to try and figure out if this could do the same, or more.

I love the writers reaction:

"It was too weird for me ewww, but this guy I know, Joey Joe Joe Shabadoo fucking loved it."

Is this a screenshot from Semen Cleanup Detail?

That's what you get when you piss Geordi off.

Piss him off really bad and you get cleanup duty after Barclay's done with it.

VR porn, like traditional film on VR simply sucks when it's not using a 3D engine. My mission right now it seems is to get that out there. Too many people seem to think it must be really cool. Having no translation makes VR not VR, and the field of view warping is never quite right. Once they do start using 3D engines you will probably have a much better experience. The question is can people get off to CGI essentially? It's not impossible. There are incredibly impressive full body scans out there that if animated well might be pretty cool...

The best way to do VR porn, right now, isn't the way that most people picture it. Basically, it isn't as a participant, it's as a voyeur. It's not going to be CGI, it's going to be a real girl putting on a show right in front of you, and talking to you. We don't have the tactile feedback to make being a participant work right now (which is basically why this article says the whole thing felt so weird). I get what you're saying about the ways of filming it not being there yet, but I think it's going to get there really soon, if not within the next couple years.

"At first it felt surreal and disconnected, but I timed myself to get off at the same time she did," said this person, who preferred to remain anonymous. "And suddenly, I came, and we had that moment of [exhausted breathing sounds]. She was breathing at the same time. And then she looked me in the eye and leaned in and said, 'I love you, baby.' I was like, 'Wow, that was amazing.' And then I realized I'd only had that experience with a few girlfriends in my life. That's when I realized this shit is crazy. To connect with a human you need so many things, and this achieved it almost immediately. This girl was there with me, and she recognized me, and she appreciated me."

Fair points, but 3D-Scanned porn is already a thing right now, and produces some amazing results in VR. 3D-filmed static footage is also already being used in VR experiences, and as long as the camera point in VR matches the camera point of the footage, it produces nearly indistinguishable effects of real, living humans in VR worlds. While that is incredibly limiting for video games and other interactive experiences, its perfect for "cinematic" or non-interactive experiences.

If the porn industry runs with this tech, we're facing our extinction event.

The time is finally right for my Ray Stantz's Ghost Buttbuster simulator kickstarter idea. I had but given up all hope this day would come.

What if this somehow has the opposite effect and loads of newly sexually confident introverts emerge from their basements to begin the Great Works?

Who is this person? You just met her. Why is she right in your face? Please step back please step back please step back she's not stepping back. Why can't you step back?" I could count the moments of eye contact in eternities, it felt so awkward.

So it's basically a gafman training program

If they can get the capture equipment cheap enough, the part of the porn world that's going to be revolutionized isn't the world of pre-produced, pre-packaged porn (and the truth of the matter is that tube sites are killing that part of the industry already, and I don't think VR is going to save it because VR will still be a piratable experience), it's cam shows. People are going to go onto some new cam site, and instead of watching it from your room, you're going to be watching it from hers. I can see that turning the cam world right on it's head.
