There was more Blu-Ray porn than HD-DVD, but it wasn't by much. There's actually not that much purchasable Blu-Ray porn out there right now. You can download at 1080p from most major websites, but they don't actually offer Blu-Rays to sell.

Actually the porn industry chose HD-DVD and only switched to blu-ray once the battle had basically been won by Sony.

No. That stuff is, and will continue to be, sold directly from the porn companies' web sites.
There's not going to be hardcore porn sold on Steam anyway.

That's probably for the best, I'd worry that having porn as a "killer app" early in VRs life will just help stigmatize the platform as something for shut-in nerds.

If we're talking VR porn video, they're just MP4's so any PC headset (and probably any mobile headset) will play them as they'll all have VR video players. Heck even Morpheus might if Sony releases a VR video player that'll play any file on a USB drive.

If we're talking 3D porn games, then obviously Sony won't allow that and they won't be on Steam so they'll be sold on developers sites and they'll likely support any PC headset on the market; doesn't make sense to limit their audience to one device.
