BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

Are builds something a new player to the Souls game should worry about or is that something that I should only focus on in the new game Plus (harder difficulty after the first playthrough correct?)
Distribute your points as you will - but make sure not to become the "average Joe" by spreading all your points on everything. Focus on one or two attributes and find the weapon synergy that fits -you-.

Watching the stream and taking in the atmosphere makes me want to get the game immediately but every gameplay impression makes it sound like all the things I didn't like about Demon's jacked up by a thousand. Arrrgggh

No iconic quote for the level up waifu? :/

You're far more negative than I am, haha.

The game looks great, I have no faith that it will be as good as the first Dark Souls, but it's definitely worth it. Bought a PS4 for it and I don't think I'll regret my purchase.

Like all true RPG type stat based games... Min/Maxing is your best friend.

As someone who isn't a fan of the souls games (because I've never played them), this looks utterly gorgeous and very interesting. I just don't think I can get passed the difficulty. I'm not very good at games.

Now now, let's not be black and white about something like skill in video games. More likely you simply take longer to get gud than others might...that's no big deal. It took me and probably 90% of SOuls enthusiasts to get past that hump of learning new controls at least three levels of Demons', and even then it was just turtling behind a shield and poking with a spear (this was a strategy that got me through most of the game.) Because "I am not good at video games" either. If you arent that good, you just upgrade better equipment, hire help, and move cautiously...these games are much mroe accessible than you think.

Someone asked for the Kirkhammer stat-requirement:

I had a dream last night of a friend's copy of bloodborne getting accidentally delivered to me. I was so confused. Should i give it to him or keep it?

I need help

guys, I'm gonna be perfectly honest with ya'll.

I have disturbing-looking-mask-phobia... and plenty of fucking enemies in this game seems to wear one :( I'm afraid...

Actually this is a very good observation.

Souls games are not hard per say. The hardest part of a Souls game for a person not used to them at all is the learning patience.

What I mean by this is quite simple. Many video games since the PS2 days forward have implemented a type of run and gun style that allows for players to make stupid/rash decisions with little impact on overall gameplay as bad situations could easily be turned around.

Souls games do not allow for this. Stupid, fast, irrational game play even at higher levels in a lower level area will end badly for the player.

So one or two of the attributes I should only care about because it will allow me to use certain weapons? You can equip 2 weapons at once right? Will all weapons be allowed to have synergy and combos? Or are they independent of the other weapon you have equipped?

Me too, It is the only concerning game system so far. Need to get a better feel for it and they could still tweak it, but it is a bit worrying amid all the other amazing stuff.

i feel that if it does end up becoming a bit unfair in any way, it will be tweaked in an eventual patch. they always come through with rebalance patches for things that arent working right.

Look at the picture below. Do you see "attribute bonus"? The higher rank of this (S, A, B, C, D, E), the more damage the weapon will do. So if you use a weapon with A on strength attribute bonus, you should spend points on strength in order to increase the max damage of your weapon.

The Kirkhammer below has a STR-C-modifier, which is okay at best. It doesn't benefit from the str-attribute that much, but even the modifier can be increased as you start upgrading your weapons.

In previous Souls games, weapon damage scales based on 4 different stats. Some have only 1 scaler, many have 2 and few have 3 or 4. People focus on Strength or Magic etc, and find weapons that scale most on those based on their playstyle.

Not entirely sure how Bloodborne works yet, but it is probably similar.

my hands are shaking and I have to urinate.

Hah, hah, hah, hah, hah.

Congratulations!
