Review embargo ends tonight at midnight?
Review embargo ends tonight at midnight?
Are the BOSSES in the chalice dungeons different from the main game or can you meet any boss randomly?
You're 100% right.
I am intrigued. VERY intrigued.Do you really want to know? Also that IGN video wasbtw. So not really the location where you fight the boss "in-game."in a chalice dungeon
Depends on the player. There is quite a twist to getting to that boss that I will not mention, other then it has never happened in a souls game thus far. Some players may get there faster then others. First time through players are going to be in for a shock
I can't wait to see/hear the reactions to it.
Edit: Argh bottom of the page.
To your first point, I disagree. Infamous' lack of mission variety was awful and made for a complete bore of a game.
Your second point is spot on though. Embargo dates are not an indicator of quality. I doubt Sony or From are lacking in confidence about the reception this game is going to get.
I don't think the embargo indicates anything. If Dark Souls II managed to be the better reviewed title of the three Souls games, anything they put out will be GOTY, even if it sucks.
I see some people criticizing games journalists for not giving the Souls series enough credit, but if anything, they're too forgiving when it comes to the series.
So what have we learned lore-wise thus far?
I was able to catch the bit wherementioned that they hunt something different than beasts as part of theAlfred. The building of said church seems to be namedChurch of Healing, which is also the building that theByrgenwerthon according to a document the player finds. The building also seems to act as an archive of sorts.giant spider is mounted
What is it that they hunt? Was there anything else we've learned?

OK, this is the nitty gritty I need to pay attention to.As a general principle, it jack-of-all-trades characters don't work well in Souls game, and I assume they won't work well in this one either. Any good build is going to involve sinking some points into Vitality (HPs), a chunk of points into Endurance (probably max out the stamina bar if this is like Souls), and then focus on one damage-dealing stat, just putting enough points elsewhere to be able to equip your weapon of choice.
Again, there may be some twists in this one, but that's how all the Souls games were.
I'd rather not discuss it here in the thread as I feel that everyone should experience it the first time. And even if I were to spoiler it people might still look and the surprise would be ruined. So if I was to discuss it, it would be through PMs, and that is only if you really want to ruin it for yourself.

Not to mention all the 'day before release embargo' nonsense that'll be the next likely round of 'issues' gripping the community.
Anyway, there's probably better threads to speak of the validity of 'concern' discussion and the criticism of it.

Now buy the US digital version so you can play it as soon as it officially releases.![]()
Where's the fun in that? I want to be desesperated while everyone in the US/with a US account play it. And, well, maybe Carrefour breaks the release date like they did with a ton of games before.
You can call me a masochist if you want![]()

Very cool. I bet the twist isyou play as the boss first, and then fight it later.
OK, this is the nitty gritty I need to pay attention to.
Now, I'm very early in the game and only now have the option of buying a weapon after beating the first boss.
What do you mean by damage dealing stat? How are the weapons devided up? Light, medium and heavy? Initially I had an ax that can transform, and I just purchased a hammer thing but can't equip due to low strength. Is there a wikki on this somewhere?
Nah. My guess is that after a certain point theboss shows up in the safe/hub area of the game.

Reading the commentary to the stream a couple pages ago was absolutely hilarious. On one hand I guess I'm upset I missed it, but the reactions were probably better than the stream itself.
Ohh and in the previous souls games is there a max level?
Yeah, I'm not wanting it spoiled at all, you just made my heart race a bit with that postI'd rather not discuss it here in the thread as I feel that everyone should experience it the first time. as others have mentioned, FROM did this on purpose... just think back to when Demons' was released...I signed up to GAF exclusively for Demons' chat..I actually uncovered a few things myself and shared with the community...how unreal a feeel is that? Thanks to FROM for leaving the detective aspect IN their games...its a large part ofthe fun for me to figure out what is what on my own. It would be different if they didnt have a tutorial, and then basically tell the story and all you need ot know through NPCs and item descrip[tions...but they do. I disagree with anyoe that criticises this aspect..it is just how they roll and it is a superior way to have people learn a game imho. This is why games like this should have paper manuals so you have something on hand for quick explanation. Getting rid of them is not such a good idea. Someone who's never played a soul's game (me) could use some tips on how to play.
#manuals.
THere is always a way to go, in fact there are likely a few differnt less travelled paths, and that makes all the difference. Start expolting, figure out a new trick shortcut before anyone spoils it for you...you will feel God tier. Secrets are out there new players....if you have a copy and are playing now before everyone else figures it out you are more privilaged than you realize!im def used to rewarding hard in games, difficulty doesnt really bother me just horror aspect /lack of in game direction thats intimidating mostly, but in a world where most people havent even seen the game, i guess nobody really knows where to go just yet lol
My guess is that they are all cameo appearances from other points in the game, just a guess and could be wrong. Are the BOSSES in the chalice dungeons different from the main game or can you meet any boss randomly?
You got some bad info, you CAN be a jack of all trades if you wish and there is nothing wrong with that. THe only reason in DeS and DS1 it was bad was becuase it took you out of PVP and multiplayer hot spot range if you were too overleveld. IN DS you could level as much as you wanted with stats as the multiplayer was based on a differnt aspect called soul smemory, whcih most people hated. I seem to recall Miyazaki saying we woudl be retuirning to the leveling affecting multiplyer not anythign else, but if you dont care about PVP ad finding co-op at certain poitns in the game than you can level whatever you want. Just level the stats you have equipment for now that you like, but keep in mind that you could fidn a better weapon, generally you can be light and dextrous or go for strength weapons which are slower. THe other stats appear to govern elemental damage like bullets, lightning and fire.OK, this is the nitty gritty I need to pay attention to.

LOL tha's the spirit....you wont be dissapointed if you just take your time and figutre out your own strats as much as possible.....and you can ask for help on any of the multiple threads and get an instant answer....although at launch the thread may move so fast your query might get buried so just PM me or someone else if that happens.FUCK IT

Focus on one weapon. If you like the Kirk's hammer, get the stats needed to use it, then upgrade it so that the weapon you're using will be as strong as possible. Spreading your resources to other weapons will diminish it's strength.

but I need to upgrade my character a certain way to use the hammer, how do I know if I like it or not without wasting quite a bit of blood echos to even try it
and how are the weapon classes set up, most games have it as light, medium heavy weapons....is this the same or ....

Is this part of the 6 weapons that Edge found from their 40 hrs gameplay?

The axe is not a bad choice, it is unlikley that any of the weapons wil be bad choices, you can always upgrade differnet ones. If yo are unsre about leveling, spend your souls on equipment upgrades instead...most people do base stat runs for their subsequent playthroughs so dont feel liek you have to level up too much if you dont want to.

One of us! One of us!
Welcome to the family! In all honesty, people make it sound so much worse than it is. Sure, the game can be challenging but it's FAIR. Yes, you will die but most likely due to you making a mistake. So, next time in, you will approach it differently. The elation you get when you conquer a foe who has been giving you trouble for an hour is so exhilarating.
Also, don't hesitate to ask for help or use the wiki. Purists say the best way is blind, and after you are a veteran, sure, go for it but it can be fun leaning secrets from outer players and bonding with them.
Welcome. Once you enter you never leave.
Woot such warm welcomes
