Battlefield Hardline |OT| Battlefield FIVE-O

BF is all conquest all the time.

I'd generally agree with you at least for the mainline games. Though the spin-offs are fine to go do something else. Conquest is pretty much the bread and butter of the franchise though. I still think it's weird when people say they like Battlefield but dislike Conquest when Conquest IS pretty much what Battlefield is.

Is it just me or is the reload time onthr sniper rifle quicker than in bf4? Also starting out with the straight pull feels like cheating.

You're talking about the scout elite and it is definitely "special". I expect it to get "fixed" at some point.

Had an awesome ending to a Heist match, no clue why none of them turned around and tried to kill me, lol.

Nice. Heist can get freakin' intense at the end with those all or nothing plays. Here's my YOLO final spawn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCIqjrrvUYo

So what's the deal with the ACW-R... Pre-order bonus? I pre-ordered digital on PS4. I guess I probably need to download an add-on or something? Would hate to miss out on the OP weapon pre-nerf like I always seem to.

Its going to suck when everyone starts wearing gas masks..for now though using the gas grenades as a pseudo motion detector is pretty useful.

Gas masks completely stop gas grenades and sight loss is extremely minimal.

Though if you have a competent hacker on your team, you shouldn't need a motion detector.

That was my point...no one is really using masks now. So the gas grenades serve more than one purpose.

How do you like the Xim and what console do you use it for?

Love it. PS4. Really depends on the game though. I had bought it for Destiny, but, well, Destiny didn't turn out like I had hoped - in many ways - and it also had a "low" turn speed (when maxed), which doesn't translate well for the XIM. CoD and Battlefield work much better, with an almost 1:1 movement.

The translators for Hardline aren't out yet, but the BF4 one works for now.

Here's the lapboard I made for it:

The G13 was pretty terrible, so I recently replaced it with a Tartarus. Much better.

I think I've yet to see a Hacker in any of the games I've played. I know they put a lot of work into it, trying to spice it up a bit, but I wonder if it's going to be as ignored as it was in BF4.

So I had a friend swear up and down he had a gator jump out and eat him while playing the Everglades map. Anyone else see anything like that?

When I was playing during the EA access trial, I saw something jumping out of the water out of the corner of my eye in Everglades. I thought at first it was a player that had gone prone under water then stood to crouch, but there was no player there.

Your friend may not be lying.

Yeah, there are gators on that map though I don't think they can eat you. They just sort of appear near the edges of water then turn around and go under.

I think the block is the most chaotic map. That thing is like a shoebox.

The Block makes Metro and Locker seem like leisurely picnics. Kill, die. Kill, die. Spawn, die. Kill, kill (yay!), die ,die, die.

To those who've played Heist, are the bag spawns and drop off points logically placed around the maps?

I quite liked that the mode spread out the action on Bank Job when I played it during the Beta.

In case anyone's confused over the 10 Gold Battlepacks in the Deluxe edition, they're not all available at once:

Deluxe Edition - 10 Gold Battlepacks and 3 Specialized Battlepacks
  • 5 Gold Battlepacks and 3 Specialized Battlepacks will become available for Deluxe Edition players on March 17th, or upon game activation.
  • The remaining 5 Gold Battlepacks will become available once per week on each Friday starting March 20th and ending on April 17th, 2015.

Not going premium this time because of when the game released, if I go premium again it will be in the new star wars battlefront
I don't see myself playing this a year from now

How does everyone feel about mechanic now having the spawn becon?

Not played the game yet but in theory it makes sense.

Half the time Recon players would use it so they could respawn at a good vantage point which was usually way behind the action, meaning squadmates would ave to hoof it all the way from the edges to get to the objectives.

Engineers will use repair tools a lot more now since vehicles are damaged by small arms fire. Which leaves them with the choice of a grenade launcher or a spawn point, both powerful tools in the right hands.

But I get the impression that a minority of engineers will put down spawn points though.

Spawn beacons can be death traps tho if not decently hidden, some people will just camp in front of them and kill you as you spawn.

BF is all conquest all the time.

I wouldn't give BF a second look if this were the case, so...no thank you.

All those guys and not a single grenade thrown at the motorcycle, haha.

I got the ACW-R out of a Battlepack that was on my Gamestop receipt, I don't know if it was exclusive to them, really the first time in forever I've even bothered redeeming those codes. I haven't unlocked the M16 yet, but the M16 felt a lot better in the beta than the ACW-R does, to me at least.

If I'm playing Hotwire it is grenade launcher, repair tool, and tracking dart.
If i'm playing Blood Money it is grenade launcher, Satphone, and taser. Ballistic insert is an option instead of the gl but I find that with so many operators who forgot how to toss a grenade I often have to kill enemy spawn point/defense vehicles.

The satphone is great in Blood Money, the team always needs to get somewhere quickly and that shifts as the round progresses. I'll drop one near the money pile at the start and then move it to their vault or ours later on depending on how things go. Dropping it at their vault and raising hell there will pull a lot of their team off the center allowing your team to loot and scoot.

I think it is a good move to have it on mechanic. A majority of recon didn't use them for the team, if they used them at all.

I decided last minute to jump in and pre-order this game with my best buy gamers club discount thing on Monday just before it came out. I've only dabbled a bit in single player so far but it seems pretty decent. I'm looking forward to giving multiplayer a shot. Glad to hear things seem to be working well right off the bat.

so guys, I have this game unopened sitting here and I want to return it cause NONE of my friends are getting it and as much as I really really wanna play it I don't think I could always just play alone.

Any GAF buds open to making squads and playing on XBO?

If so, I may consider keeping this game.

I'm in the same boat, only for PS4.

Yeah, it's my first time actually filing a Paypal claim, and I've always been afraid of this stuff. Welp, guess it happens to everyone at least once. Hopefully it gets resolved in some shape or form.

I also found out that when my Origin account got hacked, as a safeguard Origin flagged one of my credit cards and I can't use it. So... Welp. Hasn't been a good morning so far. Gonna have to use my other card then... To get a game on Mexican VPN'd Origin =/

EDIT: Well Origin refuses to take Paypal or my other credit card for whatever reason. I guess EA doesn't want my money.
If you're US based, you can buy through Gamestop website with Paypal I think. You just get the code and enter it in Origin. Works great.

Really loving this game. I like it more than BF4. Just need them to bring in the color customization options that the last BF4 patch brought in.

I played 2 rounds as a Hacker last night. Not sure how I feel about it... I racked up a decent number of points (about halfway up the team list), but it's kind of unrewarding. You just spot people, hack stuff, and watch little dots move around the map. I guess if you didn't like FPS action it would be a good role, but if you're playing BF you probably like digging in and shooting people.

I'm not sure if Hacker mode supports second screen play (iPad, etc) like BF4 and PvZ:GW, but that would be the ideal way to use it. That would let me put my wife on that role or something, somebody who would enjoy that style of play.

Game looks pretty good so far, might pick it up if people stay into it. I do have one issue, while they seem to be trying to limit explosion spamming, that trunk spawning rocket launcher seems way OP and everyone is going to use it. I hope they get rid of that one.

How does everyone feel about mechanic now having the spawn becon?

I like it quite a bit actually, I pretty much never used it in BF4 as Im a pretty horrible sniper. Mechanic is probably my favorite class atm and the spawn beacon really comes in handy for pretty much every mode except maybe Hotwire.

They need to give hacker/commander more active means to engage the enemy. Like in BF2.

Yeah. When they reintroduced it in BF4 I was excited. Then it ended up just becoming some way to get iPad and other tablet users involved and not much else. It was really half baked. Hacker is obviously more of the same.

I really doubt they'll incorporate a lot of the commander stuff from BF2 though. Especially the things like being able to disable enemy artillery and UAV's by destroying the respective buildings/assets near the home base. Maybe the commander should be an actual player character in the battle and has to use radios at any flag point. In between ability cool-downs he can actually fight. He should probably be able spawn on any squad leader as well. Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm does this to some extent.

Also I accidentally left the chat box on. Oh boy. Never turning that thing on again. Still gonna have to wait till the game releases in Europe to play with friends. My experiences playing on EU servers have generally been more positive than playing on NA servers.

Playing Hardline got me thinking about the future of the franchise though. Since there are a lot of Bad Company players that prefer Bad Company over the traditional Battlefield conquest style, maybe they should look into game mode-specific maps, or bringing back conquest-assault where you can't cap other points unless you cap specific points. For example maybe something like Iwo Jima and Wake Island would be traditional Battlefield conquest maps. But something like Omaha Beach or Guadalcanal would be a conquest-assault map

BF is all conquest all the time.

Good man. People who started the series on the Bad Company 1/2 spin-off game will try to tell you otherwise, but Conquest is the core of the Battlefield experience.

Other modes can be fun, but they are like side dishes to the main course of Conquest.

If any of y'all know anyone that wants an Origin key for Hardline on the cheap, hit me up. I've got an extra one after buying two.

How's the aim assist on PS4? It's more like GTAish lock & shoot than aim assist in the beta...I love police theme games but that aim assist...

The aiming in the Hardline Beta and release (and every single console BF ever released) has never resembled GTA's lock, stick and shoot mechanic.

Enjoying the Campaign more than I thought I would. Trying to take criminals with warrants alive at all costs. Trying to get all the evidence for the case files 100% through each chapter (the scanners helps with that in wonders, the swamp was a pain for the errant ones though lol). If I don't 100% the level, I redo it (really wish we could skip cutscenes but they are well acted)

I'm enjoying multiplayer as well, I'm fond of hotwire mostly personally (maps could be better) but overall, this wasn't a bad purchase for $48 bucks (GCU member).
