These are still gold

Maybe it's just how this season went for me so far, but I feel like this show is getting more and more Soap Opera-ish. The dialogue, the reactions, the drama. This episode even looked as bland. All it needs now is that 60 fps look.

No, it's not. It's really not. The soap opera elements have been strong since day one. I mean, Ollie was cheating on Laurel with her sister when his boat blew up. You don't get more soap opera than that. Each season has had huge soap opera elements at play. This season is no different.

Okay then. I guess it was just this episode, where it felt like everyone was about to cry.

Maybe I can't take it anymore. I have nothing against a serious tone and some brooding characters, but this show needs to lighten the fuck up every now and then. And not only by having Roy do unintentionally hilarious shit. Everyone is so mopey and whiney and always complaining and crying and whatnot. I get that the story leaves them no choice, but these characters need some bright spots in their lives, otherwise they're just insufferable pricks. People who can't seem to catch a break and are always in a shitty mood because of it, are just not great to have around.

hate how they ruined malcolm merlyn's character. like it gets harder and harder to root for him.

i mean first the whole undertaking nonsense but i was like malcolm's cool so whatever.

then he killed tommy but you know, it had to come to that. sorry tommy.

and then he just had to get thea to kill sarah (for some reason) which honestly is a step too far on the evil spectrum

i want to root for merlyn but its getting kinda hard

Im really feeling the Shado thing is going to be nothing(sister, lookalike, or some other crap) and when it is im writing this show off completely.
If she was somehow alive again we would have some reference to that in the current scenes.

Yeah are we ever going to find out why Malcolm wanted Sarah dead so badly and why he had to use Thea to do so?

Will we ever find out where Oliver flies off to in the sky?

The Arrow Files! Weekdays at 9!

One of the worst written shows of all time. I dont follow the Arrow comics but I think one of the reasons Flash is infinitely better is because Flash seems to inherently be so much cooler as a character. Arrow seems to be a poor man's batman.I hope ra's al ghul kicks the shit out of all of these morons in the end.

This season has been ass. The last episode was the worst.

Choreography has gotten worse. Characters are making dumb ass choices. Its just stupid.

I agree and this is coming from someone who LOVED season 2. Bought the Blu-Ray set day one because how good it was. Now it doesn't even feel like the same show. Everything is written so poorly now. :/

lmao my sister said that exact same thing during that scene.

worst actor ever btw. he makes stephen amell look like daniel day lewis in the flashbacks.

This was my 2nd favorite show on tv during season 1 & 2(POI #1).
but man it has fallen far for me. All the other shows are getting better and better but Arrow got kicked off that cliff with Oliver and is still falling.

I dont get why ollie took him back to his place. Drop him off in an alley with a cell im sure he has people to help him. Lets keep the guy who brainwashed the person I love the most and turned her into a killer around her cause thats smart. I know the writers wanna keep merlyn around but I wish they could do it in a better more logical way.

With her sister played by the soap opera actress!

It was a complete dick move by Ollie to just dump Merlyn on Thea. Merlyn is no longer being hunted by the league, has tons of resources and must have a place in Starling where he stayed before but no lets dump him on Thea. He could dump him in the Arrow hideout if he had no other options, anything would be better than dumping him on Thea.

Season 3 is a definite step down, but if you really think this is true you need to reevaluate some shit.

Finally saw the episide.

Half the character decisions are still dumb, but that's an improvement. And it was a lot more fun, too. I think Arrow is slowly dragging its way out of its slump.

I love the ridiculousness of people complaining so much about how S3 is the worst show ever that, by proxy, this thread is nowhere near as enjoyable as the Season 2 thread. Every criticism they make of Arrow S3 is also true of the Arrow S3 thread.

That's because he's a villain. You shouldn't be rooting for him, unless it's because you want him to kill more people.

Yeah are we ever going to find out why Malcolm wanted Sarah dead so badly and why he had to use Thea to do so?

We found out several months ago.

You were never supposed to like him or root for him. You're supposed to root against him, if anything at all. Don't know how this is a complaint. Malcolm is at rock bottom, where he fucking should be.

That has never been, and will never be, true.
Hey now don't complain, we could always have a worse child actor on Arrow.
latest
I'll be honest: I've never thought he was that bad.

Watched the episode, was all right.

This seasons been pretty crap tbh, even worse when you compare it to Flash.

I've always rooted for Malcolm though. He's always sat in that place between not so evil and not so good for me. I mean sure there's the whole Undertaking nonsense but the show tried to make us sympathize with him a bit there cause of the whole his wife getting killed and everything. He was never 100% a bad guy. Not to mention as a character he's always seemed pretty cool so it wasn't hard to like him.

The whole Sarah/Thea thing though, yeah that kinda makes him a bad guy and harder to root for. That was a dumb plot point that the writers just threw in out of nowhere.

He was always a bad guy. Just because a show tries to get some empathy for the villain doesn't make him not a villain. Like, that's an incredibly common thing. Supervillains doing something awful because they think they are doing right especially (see Magneto, Ra's al Ghul in this and Batman Begins, etc).

Malcolm's motivation is "All the dirty poors need to die because one person who was poor killed my wife. Maybe. I don't know if the killer really was poor. I didn't really check. Bootstraps."

Class based genocide typically doesn't lead to a redemption arc.

So I've been marathoning this show since last week, just got to the Slade reveal. Just wanted to say that this show is awesome. Admittedly I've spoiled a lot for myself but it just makes me excited for future events :o

Laurel sucks though and her face looks reaallly weird, like she has an elongated chin or something. I read the actress lost a lot of weight to reflect her substance abuse but still... ew.
