So I've been trying to avoid most spoilers outside of the first area, but is it fair to say the general consensus thus far seems to find the game to be easier than Souls games? (Based on not losing humanity, easier bosses, etc. from what I've read).

It varies depending on the player and some of the later bosses have shown some AI...quirks for certain people that I'm not sure what's up with, as others have reported them behaving differently.

Also easy is probably all a matter of perspective depending on how much you've been exposed to the other games.

That said, chalice will probably end up being harder than Souls.

man the level design in this is outstanding. It makes me all the more mad that we got DS2 first. Miyazaki truly was the brains behind everything in Souls. Without him at the helm, we get DS2's poor quality. I loved DS2 but, it feels like a disjointed mess. it doesn't have the same charm or atmosphere as DeS and DS had.

After this, hype level is over 9000.

Fair enough. I've played all of the Souls games and it's hard to ascertain which one is the hardest after beating them all now. My vote would probably go to Dark Souls 1 though.

Come on, Amazon. Be a bro and deliver it one day earlier. Can't hurt.

Did Amazon ever deliver a game earlier for you here in Europe? Waiting till Wednesday will be a pain.

Early game is def not easier. I'm only on the second boss though. It's incredible so far but not easy. Not insanely hard either. Just right, imho.

I'm asking in here as you guys are more likely to know, but I've not read a single post as I'm going in pretty much blind (the only experience I've had is an hour or so on the Alpha, and the original trailer).

Any changes to co-op or multiplayer, in regards to friends? I'm in the UK but thinking about getting the USA PSN version, as I have some credit on there from last time there was a sale, it'd be cheaper (£32 with credit vs £49 in shops), and I'll get it earlier. However, I know that servers are usually region locked.

Any word on if Bloodborne's is and, if so, any downsides?

all I have to do is make sure I don't die before tomorrow night. be extra careful. no driving, no perishable foods, etc.

I agree. Still getting used to its idiosyncratic behavior. It sure seems to grab the farthest away enemy instead of the closest one more often than I'd like.

I've done jump attacks waaaay over the enemy i was locked onto to hit an enemy that was like 10 feet away. I dont like when it sends me sailing into danger for no reason.

So for real is the game good? Is it better than Dark Souls is it worse? etc? Trying not to get too deep into this thread
Planning on getting a PS4 in a month or two primarily for this game.

It's my first Souls game and I'm getting my ass kicked ... But I love it. Right now,
I tried a few times to kill the Vicar boss in the Cathedral, but man, she's tough! So I just went on to the next area with those witches ... I had a lot of problems with the second boss, the third one was okay. I love this game - even after you put the controller down, you want to start again.
It's the best PS4 game for me.

Is the game more linear or can you decide which way to go first like DS 2?

I've only watched the initial area or thereabouts, it seems like there are 2 -- maybe 3 -- bosses you can go to in any order. possibly more but I haven't seen enough to know.

Morning Gaf! So...I've never played a Souls game before. The action games I like are (Legacy) Devil May Cry, God of War (obviously), Legacy of Kain Series. I hated Castlevania LoS. I did like NG Sigma on PS3 but never got into the next installment. Generally I like story driven games with face paced action and puzzles.

What do you think about me getting this?

No its like Dark Souls. Lots of shortcuts, its noted that there are also several places where the off shooting routes from that point match Firelink Shrine in DS (4).

Ok thanks guys! Was curious because I want to find that greatsword asap.

Edit: Thx aswell Revolutionary.

eu gaf downloading the game, can you see it with your eu account? I set the us account as primary but I still can't see the game in my eu account.

It looks better to me. Same sort of framework, only faster combat, sinister as hell and the atmosphere is beyond amazing. A lot better environment variety than I ever imagined as well.

I'd say try it because souls games are truly incredible experiences but it isn't anything like the other games you mentioned.

The battle system is what makes the Souls games so good and Bloodborne's is certainly fast paced. I wouldn't call it a hack and slash game like DMC though. There is an interesting story no doubt but don;t expect cinematics. The story is told in game through character arcs, progression and lore can be derived from items, areas and weapons.

Have you see the latest trailer? What do you think of it?

Ive played a lot of action games of the years on hard difficulties and one of the thing i didnt like about Dark Souls was the patience it required even if you already knew how to take down an enemy which lead to some really unfun repetitiveness when passing through old areas. Does the speed of Bloodborne mitigate this? Or do you basically have to go through the ame motions with each enemy ala Dark Souls?

games are like nothing you played before.

Fuck, still have all of Monday to wait. I'm going to be speeding toward Best Buy come Tuesday morning.

Just curious, have any of you played the Souls games with someone in the same apartment/house/dorm? As in, did co-op together on the same connection. That or are planning to do such a thing with Bloodborne. I'm staying at my girlfriend's place this week and we're both getting Bloodborne. We used to have trouble staying together on the same fire team in Destiny sometimes but that was on the old modem we had.

because that is the copy people are playing for a few days now already.

true, although it's sheer luck in obtaining one of those whereas I simply pre-ordered through a large retailer. Most won't be able to play it until Tuesday (if they got release day delivery / pick it up at the store).

No, you will be going through the same areas at times and it will all eventually link up via the same sort of world design. Which is the the best in the business, in my opinion. There are also plenty of areas, so don't worry about that.

As for the enemies, the variety of the few bosses I have seen has been wonderful. Lots of different regular enemies as well. It just seems like an expansion and improvement of an already brilliant concept to me.

Regarding NPCs and the Cathedral...
where do I find more NPCs? Back in the first area by Cleric Beast and Father Gascgione? Past the gatling gun? I've only got the old lady, and Gascgione's daughter disappeared after I gave her the brooch.

Little help please :)

It's unlike those games. Souls games move at their own pace, they're atmospheric, ambient, and "passive". You have very few cutscenes and very little direction from the game imposed on you as to where to go or what to do. There aren't many things to compare it to, particularly in modern games.

Super hyped.

Just added Bloodborne to my download list. However, I was quite astonished about the day 1 patch being half the size of the full game...

Awesome...this was my favorite aspect of Dark Souls, from the time I put into it

I don't know guys... I feel really lost and pretty terrible.

About 5 hours of game time, and I feel like I've made absolutely no progress at all. I can't even beat the first boss, I'm stuck running around the same area over and over again to get blood echoes to try and level up a bit and then beat the boss.

I feel like I've missed an important piece of gear or something that's not letting me be strong enough to go on. Either that or I'm just completely terrible at this game.

I don't know if I'm doing it right gaf, I'm cold and I'm scared.

Sounds like a souls game to me.

It's not. The 5GB is just the first part. It'll download the other 35GB over time (I had heard that it was 40GB total).
