I believe he was the one that originally reviewed demon's souls, if my memory serves me right gamespot also made it their game of the year that year.
Yes he was. Glad Gamespot put him on for this. Dude understands what it's all about.
I think he gave DeS a 9/10

Just so we're clear, since people are struggling with this, I'm issuing a warning well ahead of time that if you act like a child in response to review scores for this game, whatever they end up being, you get to miss the game's launch on this forum. We're tired of the way people behave in review threads.

Glad to hear it, there's ridiculousness on both ends of the spectrum. The press reviews don't influence my own purchasing decisions one way or the other but I do enjoy reading and discussing them. It's hard when the threads get derailed so fast and so bad

Too hard for most of them to beat.

That's unfair because we all played it with community of people learning about as we went. It's a intimidating game, but yeah that's probably why. The game came out at the peek of approachability in game design.

hey I played it for like 20ish hours feel free to ask any questions or anything.

after the initial adjustment phase, I'm totally hooked. it'll be hard to go back to the older games thats for sure.

Can someone explain the difference between Skill and Strength for me?

What effect does it have on your character?

I don't think it's shit, but I think bloodtinge sounds very questionable since it influences gun damage, which is apparently of less consequence. Guns are utility -- for parrying -- and have limited ammo, so who cares what the damage is.. right?

Looks like it also governs whether or not you can use certain firearms, so even if you aren't concerned about damage it still seems potentially useful. I've kept my exposure to Bloodborne minimal, so ultimately I can't say.

Sounds reasonable.

What matters is if you enjoy the game, folks. Don't lose your shit if you disagree with some scores.

Basically decides what weapons you can wield and how much damage you do with said weapon. For example, some weapons do more damage with high skill, some with high strength.

Nice.

I just want a number. What do you rate it on a 10 point scale?

Skill is the equivalent of Dex. It's the skill that scales for the more...elegant weapons. Strength is for the big thingies that go smash into enemies.

Certain trick weapons scale with bloodtinge.

Well had this preordered with Bestbuy from e3 deal but won't deliver till the 25th looks like I'm digital double dipping.. Can't resist this looks way to good.

Prediction: Avelyn-style gun that fires 3-5 shots in rapid succession found late-game, makes everyone regret ignoring Bloodtinge.

What weapons are you enjoying using? Skill or Strength?

Skill is for fast weapons, like the threaded cane, and will you will become more powerful with it as skill increases. Similarly, strength is for weapons like the axe, greatsword and Kirkhammer.

The hype for this is absolutely insane. I don't think anything else released this gen will come close.

I'm skipping it though since I've never been interested in the souls games and the highly challenging affair of them either.

Well said. Reviews for me on this game are irrelevant anyhow. This game will be fantastic.

The Uncharted 4 hype will be pretty insane. But yeah this game is a beast in terms of interest on here
