These are pretty funny:

Press F to Bloodborne.

Demon's Souls - 89
Dark Souls - 89
Dark Souls 2 - 91
Bloodborne - 93

Not that metascores are the end all be all - far from it - but there's something to be said for a studio that not only maintains a level of quality between its games, but consistently improves in quality with each game.

Tell that to a lot of souls fans. Dark Souls II is met with general ambivalence when I bring it up to my hardcore souls friends.

Right that's a fair point. I also consider DS2 to be not as good as Dark Souls 1, but to a general audience it might've been the opposite. DS2 is certainly less obtuse

Sadly, From isn't as consistent outside the Souls games.

This game is the truth guys. I'm in the second area, and it just gets better and better. I had an epic battle with the second boss, beat him on my first try, and of course my PS4 didn't record it until the boss was dead. Fuck; that fight was tense as hell; I just zoned out with the evasive maneuvers. GOTY contender for sure.

Sony has been hammering me with Bloodborne TV ads. Yesterday every other commercial seemed like a Bloodborne ad.

They are already advertising it heavily. It was the sponsored product for Sportscenter recently, so they'd come back from break with their announcing describing the game.

Oh, I know, it's also been advertised heavily on Walking Dead and Better Call Saul, the last few weeks.. And The Following tonight...

I'm saying I would love to see Sony embrace these review scores and plaster them all over a new commercial or the current ones... Games with much lower praise do it...

I don't know if being upset by 40 second load times is unreasonable. I sure hope that patch gets out quickly.

Especially since in some cases the load times are longer. For the boss fight I was watching on Twitch last night, the load times were as long a 1'30".

It was a fine game, but it messed with some of the finer points of DS (mainly hitboxes and enemy attacks not homing). I'd rank it last of the 4, but still a solid 8.5/10.

So it's like Dark Souls 2 with level interweaving?

Not necessarily, do you remember the teleportation selection in dark souls 1 after you acquired the gold thing(forgive me I can't remember the name). It's like that, you must unlock said areas and light the "bonfire" before you're allowed to go there by teleport.

I think it has to due with the way that game is rendering the areas because it is definitely dependent on which zones are being loaded.

Why did they do it?

I guess because they felt that estus flasks were too much of a crutch.

I didn't say I agreed with it, just that I get it. It was one of the sticking points for me in my short time with the game. That, and the load times. So really, half of what Dan is talking about is on point.

It's especially funny because Souls games are not even that hard. In any event, these games are not for everyone.

This sentiment has always been BS. I was around when Dark Souls 2 launched and people got stuck on a few bosses for a while, same with Dark Souls 1 looking back. The thing that makes or breaks the game's difficulty is knowing what you're fighting and how you built your character. A bad character build in a Souls game can make progress grueling.

Once you know every enemy in the game and can build your character correctly? Yeah, the difficulty is alleviated.

Not because scores, I don't care about them, but I like what I'm reading from the reviews. I'm kind of hyped and I only played Demon's Souls :P

I'll give him the loadtime complaints. That's about it. Everything else seems like your standard Soul game.

I don't remember boss checkpoints in the first two. My memory sucks though.

I figured it was because it was having to load a complicated area with an enormous boss. Most of the other load times I noted were in the 30-40sec range. That's why this one stood out.
